I absolutely agree on all of this, I quit Instagram three years ago and I certainly don`t miss it. I`m only on RUclips and Pinterest for inspiration now, and some days I feel it`s too much of that too. My goal is to live like your mom, in the moment and with peace in my heart. Anxiety gets in the way sometimes, but I´m getting better and better. Drawing/painting and being outdoors is really helpful to me. I think there are many people who feel this way about social media, hopefully it will loose it`s thight grip on most people as time goes.

Well done you've cracked the code. The system we live in is totally designed to keep us searching for more and never be satisfied with what we've got. Simplicity is the way forward, and remember never grow up, it's a con!

Absolutely relatable. I deleted my socials a couple of years ago and the urge to update them does diminish as time goes by. A good way I found to mitigate the urge was to take a photo of something and send it to one friend. This worked well because the friend would usually then have a conversation about the photo - more rewarding than likes. It’s a good middle ground. Some amazing reflections in this video. Take care. 💚

I absolutely agree about sending pics to friends or family instead of posting. I deleted my social media about 2yrs ago. It was like I died to many people. That made me sad but then I started sending them pics and made more of an effort to interact and things came back around. I do not miss social media at all.

May I recommend the book 'Amusing Ourselves to Death'? It is right up the alley of what you are talking about. It was life changing for me with just television watching. I'm incredibly leary of social media. I feel a bad spirit is lurking in the shadows, causing folks to lose all care and concern for others and instead act out of narcissistic impulses. And we can do so largely anonymously.
This is the best inspiring video I believe I've seen. Because I feel like you are presenting yourself and your views authentically. Very good job!

I completely agree with you about social media. It’s so much healthier to engage in our own life. It’s just better all the way around.
I find that if I am on social media looking at reels over and over, my mind turns to mush.
Thank you for putting this out there. We all need to get back to our hobbies that help us grow and make us happy. Loving your content on RUclips.

I've also given up social media. RUclips is about all I can handle! It is so sad that what could have been a wonderful learning and connecting platform has just turned into a commercialized, negative environment. Thanks for your uplifting videos!

I totally agree with what you said. The pace of life seems to have become faster over the last decade or so, making it expedient for one to get off the grid now and then. Not having any form of social media has its advantages, helps me to keep from worrying about the tension in today's world and gives me time to practice my magick. Many thanks, blessings to you and yours.

Thinking about the topic you present here, I would agree that the world has become too fast. One of the things I get a great deal of satisfaction from is also where I have slowed down the most, my garden. I have slowed down to observe everything. I talk through what I am doing, to no one in particular, I'm usually alone, from starting the seeds, to setting the light timers, potting up or planting out, feeding, harvesting, processing, etc. Every plant gets a label or "it's name". If it doesn't get a name, how will it know what it is when it grows up? The attention, intention, and deliberate energy put into it has yielded amazing plants and amazing harvests. I hope I can find more areas of my life to apply this slowing down and paying attention philosophy as you are also working on doing. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Blessed be.

I thought your comments on social media, slow living, etc. were right on and very insightful. I hate doing chores but lately I have come to appreciate doing smaller chores (e.g. washing dishes, not scrubbing down the bathroom) and even cooking sometimes as opportunities to do something on my feet (I sit most of the time) and it actually helps me get going a bit in the morning to get a series of small chores done while my brain is still waking up and the coffee is the still brewing. It can help you feel more productive/organized to take a few minutes to tidy up the kitchen counter, put away the clean dishes, etc. It's really part of self-care. Of course I still often don't feel like doing anything but this attitude helps me to feel motivated at least more of the time to cook and clean, which are daily necessities for most of us to live well.

Your talking about social media so resonated with me. I came off Facebook nearly 3 years ago and after the first week (did have huge withdrawal symptoms 😃) have never looked back. I'm only on Instagram ( and RUclips) now and honestly do spend too much time on Insta and hopefully I will be weaning myself off soon! Totally agree with you in that I often come off feeling anxious and out of sorts, which is such a waste of time!

I love having breakfast in bed with a cup of tea in silence, although sometimes I watch some RUclips. I don't really go on walks since I live in a big city where all the busy people stress me out and the nearest place is a 30 min walk from home already, but I like to go to the forest once a month.

Social media - I've never heard anyone express feelings about this as similar to mine!
I have been on a...I don't know, I am on another journey in my life, & I suppose it really wasn't helping me at all!
Recently, I have been in the midst of one of many spiritual awakenings! 🥴 - I am so grateful for it, though, because I am seeing things in a brand new way! I don't even think I am bringing the "old me" back - I feel like it's so new!
And amongst many wow moments, I am appreciating taking things at a pace that really makes me happy 😊
Down to a pot of tea, washing hands or just picking up books again!
Go with the flow of what makes you & your loved ones happy & peaceful! You be you! It's a gift 😉 x BB

Always lovely to have a cozy video of yours on. Thank you! Also, I agree wholeheartedly about Instagram. I have a small business, and when I started I was able to grow pretty quickly, but that has since completely stagnated and yes, I'm lucky if my posts are shown to about 10% of my "followers." Blargh. But putting less effort into social media now does allow for more time to actually work on the things I love, so that's nice.

I feel ya about the reels. Tjeyve taken over facebook to which is the only platform i ise beside watching RUclips. They make me feel very anxious and I can feel that I need to stop watching them, knowing that it's giving me anxiety by feeling rushed...and then I eventually just have to pull the cord and step away or else I'll just keep watching.
I want to slow down too

I think a simple life and a boring day are under appreciated. IG had something to do with making everyone think they need an adventurous picture worthy life but that seems exhausting. A boring day means you didn’t lose anyone you loved. The two should become more cherished by all of us.

I'm glad you mentioned washing up - I moved house recently and since then I've just tried to be in the moment when doing the dishes or hanging out laundry, and almost enjoy that time. The same with sweeping the floor (which already seems like a sort of positive ritual!), and generally trying to take time to sit and drink my coffee and just exist peacefully!

wow that was amazing timing as you walked out of the hobbit hole and lightening lit the sky🙀 my socials are email, snail mail, FB(at home on computer) and youtube as I haven't had a tv for years and while at work I don't get, and get frustrated with staff that are always on their phones -- I just like to take it easy and therefore be present at work in case something happens -- talking is quite nice 😺thank you for sharing and enjoy the little things and the re-connecting with things you love

It would be so interesting to learn how you got on. It's still early days, just three weeks but how do you feel, did you manage to stay off the app?
You are super self aware and articulate. Your perspective will certainly be relatable and helpful for others.
I agree staying present in one's life and fostering a real gratitude for the abundance we have is really important. It's the real stuff, the ordinary and boring even, that brings the health and harmony to life. Not the photoshopped images and footage of the perfectly baked cake in the designer kitchen!!
New sub who is very impressed with your channel.
Enjoying your video's, sending best wishes from down the road in Cumbria. 😊

Found your RUclips vids today. Live in Cornwall right down in the depths. I was wondering would Pagan meetings be held in castles and if so is there any particular icons that would need to be present?. I am prating to be a stone header (Cornish walls) and also a stone mason. As my plan to build a castle one day.
As for your media part, cannot really say much about it as I don't have a social account to any of the media. Last thing I wanna do is spend time online fingers hurt to much after a full day of chiselling. But I do hope you find time to slow down and see beauty in taking time with jobs.

Sounds like you are on the right path. Your videos are lovely, but I also think some people are craving a less curated product, more honest, open, and spontaneous. I think you could spend less time on video production and your followers would still love you and what you have to share. Just my opinion ❤

This is an odd comment... thank you I guess, though my videos are very relaxed and I don't spend a ton of time on video production. Variety is important :)

I think Instagram is always gonna be a hard one for you because you’ve associated it with stress for some time now. If your goal is just to grow on there, then it isn’t worth the hassle. If you like the app for the sake of posting pictures and checking in with other people, then maybe give yourself 30 mins one day a week to post and scroll? You also have a demanding job so don’t feel bad about using your leisure time to scroll on your phone. Especially when you have little energy to do more! Social media is neither good or bad, it’s a neutral tool that we can harness for whatever we want. Short form content is awful for my attention span but I can’t deny myself the fun of it because all the silly cat videos bring me joy at the same time 😂
Staying at the Shire during the thunder storm looks like perfection 😍
