I bought a Steam Deck a few days ago and can't wait for it to arrive. So I can (unironically) play Wind Waker again, a Game I bought probably around 2 decades ago on my Gamecube which is broken. And maybe also try playing some switch games I own but am unable to play anymore because Nintendo Hardware is not only underperforming, but also of suspiciously bad and unsustainable quality; so much so that they didn't even fix their stick issues before releasing a version of their console which has their controllers *BUILT IN* - yeah, Im not regretting buying this console at all (sarcasm, by the way). This is not at all about 'emulation-people' or 'emulation-fanbois' or whatever he's calling them. HE on the other hand though is an obvious I-dont-care-what-nintendo-does-I-will-always-defend-and-never-critizie-them person. and that, in my opinion, is honestly one of the reasons why Nintendo keeps disappointing more and more. they just *know* that people like him will buy their stuff regardless. I don't know who this dude is but I bet he also bought the 100 bucks Nintendo Alarm clock they released INSTEAD of a new switch (which by the way, according to the hardware specs leaks will *still be weaker* than a Steam Deck, funnily enough with around 12 Gigs of Ram while the Steam Deck has 16). and it's also so sad really, I mean just take Pokemon for example. this is the biggest franchise *on the planet* - how come the biggest franchise, the ones who have *all possibilities at the palm of their hand* basically, how come they keep releasing games that are almost of worse quality than some single indie developers who just started coding? I mean how can a game like BoTW be played on the same console? because it actually *has some* potential. just like back in the days, developers had to be more creative to make the best of the hardware they had at that time, spawning some of the best and most timeless games ever made. Pokemon (and Nintendo) though? naww, why doing more when you can also do less and still earn the same results in terms of money. and I didn't even go over how Nintendo was always this kind of 'family friendly' company and how their (buggy and slow) eshop is basically infested with hentai shovelware left right and center. Nintendo isn't even trying anymore and releasing another unoriginal 2d platformer every now and then won't change that either. Nintendo should reap what they sow honestly. I was an OG NIntendo fan and I always tried to look at the bright side and try to keep seeing the good in them. but the negative *faaaar outweighs* the positive at this point so I won't even try anymore. for what reason anyway? just wild, man. people are really allergic towards logic sometimes, it seems.

I don't think it was just because that person pirated. It sounds like they pirated and streamed a leaked copy, then spat in Nintendo's face when they wanted it shut down while waving a giant neon arrow pointing at themselves. The only way emulation dies is when decompilations start becoming easier to do.
My main problem with emulation is the experience you get. And this goes for outside of Nintendo, extending to all consoles. There’s no feeling quite like sitting on the couch, maybe surrounded by a couple of friends, with a controller comfortably in the palm of your hands, ready to play some of whatever you’re feeling that day. If you really want to play a console game hunched over at a computer screen by yourself, that’s kind of depressing. You could do this at an office job and it’d be the same experience.
You can simply link your laptop or mini-PC to your TV screen. Street Fighter and Def Jam nights among others with friends is easier than ever. Hell, you can even do it remotely.
I mainly don’t like emulation because it screws over the talented individuals over the big corporations, but I’ll end it at that rather than making a whole video unless I’m talking about the issues involved with it not including Nintendo.
I didnt expect another harman video cause talking about this dude is like beating a dead horse at this point. He kinda makes the same content over and over again
I know it makes no sense. Harman acts like its okay for Nintendo to emulate because "Its their property" but yet when WE emulate its bad even though we are using open source emulators made by the community and not Nintendo. Shouldn't third party emulators be are property therefore we are allowed to use them by Harmans logic?😂

@@ProjectionProjects2.7182you’re talking about 2 different things. When he says “it’s their property”, he’s talking about the games being their property, and not the emulators
In many countries in Europe you can download pirated content if you own a licence. So if you bought a Game for the Switch you can download a pirated copy for emulation on PC for example

I think some people don't realize that piracy is a form of civil disobedience that can, in turn, help lead to legal revision. There's old stuff out there that has no hope of ever being re-released due to liscensing issues. Plus, videogames need public domain laws that reflect the inherent technology instead of piggybacking off of film.

Even downloading the games is a legal grey area and not outright illegal. What's considered illegal is distributing those roms and even then it's only ever taken action against sites that paywall their roms.
@@VILMERTHERAWEGGDRINKERWhy would you give that much money to a guy who didn't even make the game? The publishers and developers aren't getting any of the money from them and you'd just be giving it to something who did nothing but put the game up on a website.
Good god this man's bootlicking. Always remember: Emulation is legal, Nintendo does it... they even charge you 50 dollars a year to do it on their console.
I recently decided to try emulating switch games, playing MHGU in 4k and 120fps with zero drops was a blast. I actually dumped the entirety of my switch library on my pc, and probably 70% of games i own, plays much better on PC than on Switch. It is so much more pleasant experience.
Fun fact emulation is perfectly legal a judge ruled during the ps1 emulation law suite that it was legal. UNDER THE CONDITION it's not for profit, thus not making an illegal market alternative.
Emulation per se isnt illegal. But emulators circumventing crytographic keys (as mentioned in DMCA laws) implemented in wii onwards is. Which is how Nintendo was able to remove Dolphin in Steam.
thats just not true, dolphin got removed by Valve after they asked Nintendo if theyre okay with it being there Switch emulators and iirc CEMU dont give you the keys, you have to dump or download them by yourself
Valve required Dolphin to make an agreement with Nintendo to be published onto Steam. No one knows if Dolphins ability to circumvent Wii encryption is illegal since there are many exemptions in the DMCA that could and could not apply to Dolphin. And Dolphin doesn't really need keys because almost all ways to dump Wii discs make decrypted backups.
17:10 Nintendo is actually going after channels just because of emulation. Retro Game Corps received two copyright strikes from Nintendo in quick succession. The first one was for the Mig Switch dumper showcasing how you can back up your own games. Nintendo struck it even though backing up what you own is perfectly legal. The only thing that's up in the air is the idea of circumventing their copy protection. It's basically Nintendo's legal loophole to prevent backups of copy protected software. Really shitty situation. The other was for him showcasing the Wii U emulator Cemu on a handheld PC. I know this is only my opinion, but Nintendo had absolutely no right to strike that video. It was for emulation of a legacy console not sold anymore. As mentioned in the community post, Wii U games are not being sold anymore either. The eshop is closed, meaning Nintendo literally has no means of earning revenue from Wii U software anymore. All because Nintendo thinks community-made emulation and backing up your own games equals piracy. An even shittier situation.
11:03 I actually want to answer this because I've played Ocarina of Time on Original hardware and I've also played it in 200fps on ship of harkinian, and I prefer original hardware. Sure the framerate is objectively worse and so is the resolution, but the game just looks more natural on an older television. Other people who have played both versions prefer the emulated version though and that is fine.
Bro doesn't even realize you can pirate without emulating. I used to use an R4, and my Wii U/Wii were softmodded to play their games on their own hardware. No emulation. I played an ISO of Asura's Wrath on my real PS3
Tears of the kingdom ran fine on my switch but my issue is that there’s a limit on how many zonites you can build with. If you emulate it. You can mod it so the zonite cap is much higher
11:26 I don't agree with Harman Smith's takes at all but I felt the need to challenge this point a bit: Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure you can't upscale from 240p to 4k without using texture packs (You could however likely reach 1440p with just upscaling) and I honestly think most UHD texture packs for N64 games just look ugly, I'd probably prefer playing it on an N64 or at the very least on an emulator without texture packs which means no 4k. Is it technically superior? Sure, but some people just prefer the original as intended experience and that's perfectly fine too
For disc based console emulators (a real mouthful) like the ps2 or ps1 you can boot from the disc if you have the physical game. So you don’t even need to download a rom. Now for cartridge based systems like nes, snes etc is probably harder, but I bet you can find adapters online to dump the files on your pc and use that to play the game on an emulator. So theoretically you don’t need to pirate anything if you already have the original game.
Tbh, i don’t even think Harman Smith is serious about anything he says, it feels like he’s just being satirical and trying to ragebait for the lolz and if that’s true then I have to respect that ngl, but if he’s being serious then Christ he really is a sad soul.
Who's gonna tell him about the Nintendo museum or hell the online expansions not to even mention a good chunk of the gba titles. Dude knows zero about emulators -_-
That reminds me, I was in the middle of a Metroid Prime playthrough before I downloaded Sleeping Dogs and Skate 3. Might play some of that today. Or Eternal Darkness.
Does he know that Nintendo have actually pirated emulators in the past? As in actually ripping off devs work. Also they have used ROMs that were dumped by others, so, y'know, *actual* game preservation.
Retroarch is available on the steam store for free, and its a famous emulator that can do NES, SNES, N64, PS1, PSP, Dreamcast, genesis and so much more. Valve just didnt want nintendos headache with dolphin thats all.
Nintendo broke the law then. Emulation is not illegal. Most old games are emulated on newer consoles. Any PS1, PS2 and PS3 can be played on an emulator that you can play on PC with the actual physical game. You can play any physical Nintendo Switch game on PC with the help with an emulator. Playing Dot Hack Infection on a PS2 emulator is way better than playing on a PS2 system. I can have a higher resolution and a clear picture than the blurry PS2 system.
Ah yes, corporate bootlicking, as if corporations need your protection lmao, also nintendo emulating their own shit in the museum is hilarious

Never change Harman...never change...
No please fucking change!
if Harman glaze was on a donut, if you take a bite of him, you became diabetic
(this is coming from a diabetic)
That's a mental image I didn't need in my head
Like Wario Land 3 where eating a donut makes Wario gain 100 pounds lol
@@megaman37456 exactly
Did you know that for testing video games and apps for mobile, developers use emulators for Android.
Harman literally sources himself...a while ago he was talking about Moist Critical being a "paid shill" and when someone asked for proof Harman posted a link to his own video calling out Critical over him positively reviewing Final Fantasy XVI
I don't think it was just because that person pirated. It sounds like they pirated and streamed a leaked copy, then spat in Nintendo's face when they wanted it shut down while waving a giant neon arrow pointing at themselves.
The only way emulation dies is when decompilations start becoming easier to do.
Every time he regurgitates coping and seething is tangible projection
You could also emulate old consoles on a Wii
Also forgetting the fact that portable computers exist
When I'm in a beefing with Nintendo fanboys competition and my opponent is Sneakycacti :
I stared playing elden ring because of your elden ring videos with harman in it 💀 thanks cactus man! :)
Ive said it many times, ima say it again. Nintendo hardware is the worst way to experience Nintendo games.
My PC is infinity worse
Let's gooo, more Harman salt!
What a Sheeptendo ~
I mainly don’t like emulation because it screws over the talented individuals over the big corporations, but I’ll end it at that rather than making a whole video unless I’m talking about the issues involved with it not including Nintendo.
I didnt expect another harman video cause talking about this dude is like beating a dead horse at this point. He kinda makes the same content over and over again
Dude im starved for content because the gaming community as a whole is a little dry atm 😭😭😭😭😭
@sneakycacti oh not spreading hate, I still find it enjoyable
i pirate old games cause Nintendo is too stupid to sell them on the e-shop
Why does Harman always look like he’s staring into a bright light but only with one eye?
That streamer is an undercover ninja. He may be doing the leg work for Nintendo to end emulation
These people think all emulation is pirating for some reason makes no sense😂😂😂
I know it makes no sense. Harman acts like its okay for Nintendo to emulate because "Its their property" but yet when WE emulate its bad even though we are using open source emulators made by the community and not Nintendo. Shouldn't third party emulators be are property therefore we are allowed to use them by Harmans logic?😂
@ProjectionProjects2.7182 exactly bro 🤣😂🤣😂
@@natejoe9924 Hey bro there is some guy who is arguing with me about emulation under my comment on this video. I want you to see this as they are comparing video games to kids lol.
@@ProjectionProjects2.7182 okay I want to look for your comment
@@ProjectionProjects2.7182you’re talking about 2 different things. When he says “it’s their property”, he’s talking about the games being their property, and not the emulators
This man said a toaster isn't obsolete in a world where Steam Deck exists. 🤡
Emulation is the only way I play anything from Nintendo anymore. Yup, emulation is totally over. Over the experience the Switch gives that is...
Joke's on him, I play ROMs and ISOs on modded original hardware.
Pro Gamer Move.
2:45 the only reason I didn’t redump was because I didn’t and still don’t know how to
In many countries in Europe you can download pirated content if you own a licence. So if you bought a Game for the Switch you can download a pirated copy for emulation on PC for example
Take a shot every time Harman scratches his ear
What harman is to nintendo is what JayTechTv is to playstation.
If this guy met Bowser, he’d go full simp mode
This is why you need to do risky and illegal stuff as a a teenager. This is what no freinds, no girls, and no weed or anything just plain boring nerd that never got passed that phase
I've finally noticed his eyes are open I assumed his eyes were closed the entire video due to the angle
As if he can't process visuals and his full brain power at the same time
harmon's camera is so bad that it crackles at 17:05
Man looks like white bowser
I think some people don't realize that piracy is a form of civil disobedience that can, in turn, help lead to legal revision. There's old stuff out there that has no hope of ever being re-released due to liscensing issues. Plus, videogames need public domain laws that reflect the inherent technology instead of piggybacking off of film.
we need to summon kabullo, for more content
I'm surprised PaperBanjo hasn't gone after anyone's video for criticizing Harman like Tanna May and Houra Agent have.
who the hell is paperbanjo? does he make videos on harmans critics?
@sneakycacti No, he just regularly comments on Harman's videos and streams blindly agreeing with everything the dude says and is completely devoid of criticism towards him. He only attacked one user in one of Harman's more recent community posts, but that's about it.
@sneakycacti And his full username is PaperBanjo64.
Is he that guy who bragged about false flagging ACrabNamedHeller's videos in Harman's glorified hug box he calls a discord server?
@@evilrollo Wait, he actually did that?
If Hardman was a superhero, he'd be Captain Autismo
i prefer nintendo games over sony games but i still think valve games are better because they age like fine wine
Emulators are legal
Downloading the roms, you can still buy is ilegal
Pirating old games is still illegal its just not enforced
@VILMERTHERAWEGGDRINKER eh, if you can't afford a $300 nes game, I'll just pirate it since there's no way nintendo gets $300
@@ShowBizNCA01 wouldnt it be better to support someone that isnt nintendo? anyways i doubt the game which you haven't mentioned is 300$ at all places in your state/county
The publishers and developers aren't getting any of the money from them and you'd just be giving it to something who did nothing but put the game up on a website.
he should try to wash his hair now and then, those fat clumps are visible even through his 240p UltraHD(c) webcam
I guess talking about harman smith really is beating dead horse after resurrecting the said horse
There's too many words in my head to describe this one fanboy I cannot say because RUclips would ban me from commenting...
I actually managed to finally forget Harman's existance, but then this had to be recommended, lmao.
Emulation per se isnt illegal.
But emulators circumventing crytographic keys (as mentioned in DMCA laws) implemented in wii onwards is. Which is how Nintendo was able to remove Dolphin in Steam.
thats just not true, dolphin got removed by Valve after they asked Nintendo if theyre okay with it being there
Switch emulators and iirc CEMU dont give you the keys, you have to dump or download them by yourself
Too bad copyright gets abused by entitled little 💩’s
You can mod it so the zonite cap is much higher
how come he ain't THANKFUL there's a way to play nintendo games without having to spend as much money as one does buying copies of them?
very excited i love listening to harmans wisdom
Remember that time Nintendo was exposed for using a SNES emulator (or NES I don't remember which one) AT THEIR OWN MUSUEM.
And I will continue to emulate GameCube titles. I will now start emulating other Nintendo games just to piss him off.
11:26 I don't agree with Harman Smith's takes at all but I felt the need to challenge this point a bit:
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure you can't upscale from 240p to 4k without using texture packs (You could however likely reach 1440p with just upscaling) and I honestly think most UHD texture packs for N64 games just look ugly, I'd probably prefer playing it on an N64 or at the very least on an emulator without texture packs which means no 4k.
Is it technically superior? Sure, but some people just prefer the original as intended experience and that's perfectly fine too
He's exactly how I see all nintendo fans. A literal manchild.
I can emulate it on a steamdeck!? Im gonna go learn how.
Nobody pointing out how weird he was getting gleeful when saying Nintendo enslaved people?
Watching Harman defending Nintendo is as cringe as watching DreamcastGuy defending Playstation
Holy crap what a great lolcow you found! Gonna milk this one out for a while xD
It shouldn't matter if it's a physical or digital copy of a game; if I paid for it, then I own it. If not, then pirating isn't stealing,
Tbh, i don’t even think Harman Smith is serious about anything he says, it feels like he’s just being satirical and trying to ragebait for the lolz and if that’s true then I have to respect that ngl, but if he’s being serious then Christ he really is a sad soul.
Who's gonna tell him about the Nintendo museum or hell the online expansions not to even mention a good chunk of the gba titles. Dude knows zero about emulators -_-
"Nintendorks." -master chief 😂❤
That reminds me, I was in the middle of a Metroid Prime playthrough before I downloaded Sleeping Dogs and Skate 3. Might play some of that today. Or Eternal Darkness.
i think I'll laugh if it comes out that harmon is emulating himself
Does he know that Nintendo have actually pirated emulators in the past? As in actually ripping off devs work.
Also they have used ROMs that were dumped by others, so, y'know, *actual* game preservation.
Say it with me everyone!
PIRATING NINTENDO GAMES IS MORALLY CORRECT!
Retroarch is available on the steam store for free, and its a famous emulator that can do NES, SNES, N64, PS1, PSP, Dreamcast, genesis and so much more. Valve just didnt want nintendos headache with dolphin thats all.
Maybe I shouldn't bring him up but Kabulo is one of them and Dennis
Yep and both of them are stupid. Im surprised that Sneaky never made a video on Denis honestly.
I stopped buying modern games and started a metal/hard rock cd collection (except for one Kanye album)
As a big time Nintendo fan I’ve emulated SO MANY systems here’s a list
