    Thank you, thank you and thank you again!
    I have been using a K&F for the past few years with both MFT and APS-C. Most recently I have been taking moon shots with my OM-1 and 40-150 with 2x converter. No matter what I do, the set up invariably droops just enough to result in a slightly ‘off-target shot’ - not by a massive margin, but enough to irritate.
    I had decided to look at a geared head and then found your review today. Talk about providence! I have to say that your reluctant gear review has been an absolute godsend. AP-10 about to be ordered!!

      You're very welcome. It's a regular issue with ball-heads, even heavy duty and expensive ones. Ever since I've been using this tripod, I swapped out the ball-head for the Benro geared head, and it's worked extremely well for me. 😊👍

    Everyone like a gear review - occasionally! That was a very good one, even though I don't need a new tripod at present. It always seems to be stormy days that make good images, doesn't it? I am not as brave as you, and so enjoyed your photos even more!

      Thanks for tuning in, David. Much appreciated. I was genuinely surprised that such a lightweight tripod would be so rigid in those conditions 😊👍

    As always Dave, a concise and very informative review. I'm the opposite to you though when it comes to leg locks. I had a Manfrotto tripod in which over the time I had it five of the nine snap locks cracked. It's now twist locks for me.
    No matter, a nice lightweight tripod which should suit many landscape photographers.

    • @DGriffGallery
      @DGriffGallery  2 года назад +1

      Yes Dave, I have heard that some other photographers have had issues with flip locks. My old cheap K&F has them and even though it wasn't in good shape after my 5 years of abuse, the locks were still good. So I've been lucky I guess. But I do find them quicker and easier 😊👍

    I'm looking for a new tripod as one of mine has fell to bits, I will have a look at this one. I have the Oly Em1.3 with the flippy screen so the height shouldn't be an issue. Thanks for the review.

    I think the SmallRig AP20 will work better for me, however, I will check the height of my flimsy one once I get home. Using the OM-D E-M10 Mark IV either one will work for landscape.

  • @desgardner7169

    Thank you for the revue, the let down for me would be the height of the extended tripod it would have to be at least my height at 6ft....the center column is never used on my tripod so that's not an issue, I don't use flip monitor cameras, I have no intention of upgrading, I am a fan of the flip locks though and the weight of the tripod is good too, I have 3 tripods and I do stick to the smaller one these days when I am out and about they are much better to handle, small rig is a new company to me but I shall certainly put that name in the notebook for future ref. Thank you....

    Nice shots. If I was looking for a lightweight pod I’d definitely consider that. I have 3 already though (5 if you count table pods!) so can’t justify it. I do prefer screw legs though, much easier to fix in the field if they get sand or ice etc in them - no screws to faff about with.

    • @DGriffGallery
      @DGriffGallery  2 года назад

      Yes good point, although I'll take ease and speed of deployment over the odd fix any time! 😊👍

    I just purchased another one very similar to your one( number three ) its an ARTCISE NS60C Tripod, this is my Travel Tripod and it is a combo eg it has a removable center column that a triangle shape with a hook on the under side, I prefer not to have a center column but this is the best of both worlds, the feet have pull off rubbers to expose the spikes. I also have the larger one thats has 32mm diameter legs and is a bit heavy but a very good tripod, also purchased a macro tripod , an Evumo EX3, they are all beautifully made and came from Aliexpress in China. Very highly recommend them. Cheers from New Zealand. PS you can never have enough tripods ! lol

    Thanks for the heads up. Apart from the lack of flip locks and it's now battered appearance I'm sticking with my 3LT Billy (1st version). The weight is around the same (1.38Kg) which seems to feel heavier on each trip 🤣 I find that tripods are like camera bags, the perfect one doesn't exist, but feel free to review one if you find it 😁 Loved the images you captured, the foam gave them that wintery feel. 😀

    Good day sir, may I ask if the angle adjusters and the elbows on the tripod are metal or plastic like the flip locks? And if the monopod screws into plastic or metal to go back to tripod mode? I'm worried since some of the Ulanzi's are plastic. Thank you :)

    • @DGriffGallery
      @DGriffGallery  Год назад +1

      Hello. The leg adjusters are all aluminium, also the monopod threads are metal. The only plastic fittings are the cam locks on the legs. I can report that after nearly a year of hard abuse being dished out to this tripod (I'm not easy on my gear at all!) it's still in perfect working order if a little scuffed and looking rather lived-in. This has been my main camera tripod ever since I released the video, it has been up and down mountains and parked in heavy surf up to about 2 foot deep, and still performs brilliantly. I can honestly, very confidently recommend this. 😊👍

      Thank you so much for the very detailed reply. I wanted a tripod that would last me a long time, I'm currently using a freebie benro tripod and a vintage velbon and was looking for a mostly metal tripod without the heavy weight of our old one :) I'll get the Smallrig one instead haha
