Did your dog with a nasal tumor have nose bleeds?

It’s been a year since my 14 half year old staffy passed. He was diagnosed with nasal cancer 7months before he passed. It started off as a sudden onset of violent sneezing and then continuous discharge which started as serous and then mucupurolent as the cancer progressed. He occasionally had mild reverse sneezes from time to time and twice sneezed out bits of the tumour. He never had any nose bleeds but a few times noticed specs of blood. The prognosis is much better for those who have discharge without blood. 7months with no treatment my staffy lived… they do anything to hide the pain and suffering to keep you happy… miss him loads 😢

@@FrankieBoy71taking into account his age we chose not to due to the unfavourable prognosis, the invasivity of the procedure, the costs involved for the procedure and follow up treatments (radiotherapy/chemotherapy). The vets confidently assumed it was cancer due to no response to antibiotics and then steroids as a last chance option. We opted for palliative care such as painkillers and nasal congestion remedies. He was perfectly fine during the stages; no change in behaviour and continued to stick to his daily routine… then overnight he became very weak and pale 😔 couldn’t move and did not eat for three days and so we made the decision for in home euthanasia. I would recommend you go ahead with these procedures to find a correct diagnosis as your dog, due to his age, may possibly not have cancer. I hope all goes well for you and your dog 🙏

My Oncologist Vet recommended the Chinese herb Yunnan Baiyao Jiaonang and chemo. The herb stopped the bleeding. The treatment has given me more time with my senior dog. TY for your video. I've been trying to find out more information on the subject.

My dog is 16.5 yrs old. She most likely has a nasal tumor since the fall. She gets a severe nose bleed about once every month or two. And we give her yunyan baiyao. In your experience do nose bleeds just get worse and ultimately won't stop bleeding? We know she's old and she won't improve. We don't want her to suffer but the days in between nose bleeds are fairly normal. She sneezes a lot. So we are just trying to determine when how this will progress and when it's time.

We're so sorry to hear about your dog. Yunnan baiyao is a really good idea! As for whether the bleeding eventually gets out of control, that's not a guaranteed way that things end for dogs with nasal tumors. It could happen, yes, but it's not the ultimate cause of death in most cases. Here's our article on nasal tumors, and if you go down to the "end stages" section it discusses what the ultimate days can look like. www.dogcancer.com/articles/types-of-dog-cancer/nose-cancer-in-dogs/

Hi! We don't have any pics to share. Tumors are all basically nasty looking in some way, but nasal tumors might not be visible from the outside unless they start breaking the bone under the skin.

It all depends on how aggressive the tumour is and how much it has developed.

My dog was prescribed yunan Baio after his biopsy. I have it on hand but am not using it right now as it's more or less small amounts of blood coming from his left nostril.

Hi! For tumors that bleed continuously, many holistic vets like to use it proactively to keep that coagulant support going. Check with your veterinarian -- it might help to reduce that blood even more!

My dog is 13' and has a sudden nose bleed last night and one tonight. Has a history last 3 years really dry nose on outside. I'm going to call veterinarian in morning to ask what I should do. I am worried and hope that it's nothing cancerous or deadly. She has a small cyst on tongue but no dental issues that are aware of.
