NCT's music is definitely NOT for everyone but I could never relate to the spectrum of people that don't get/love it lol. 7th sense and Replay are ICONIC debuts, SM really won with their artists!

It's so sad not to fuck with NCT. They are IT. Such a solid group with a great discography.
As a 2nd gen group stan I can say NCT brought sound revolution in kpop. Especially 127 with their neo noise bangers and experimental tracks. 7th sense unit are like avengers of NCT btw. All of their solo careers on rise now.
Nct is hard. Even other idol like idol from survival shows refuse/ don’t want to cover NCT song especially The 7th sense.
NCT debut brings another level in kpop.. Their dance is so hard, swag, and details.. their music is different but addicted.. and All member so handsome. Hahaha

NCT I believe started what they call noise music because they like to experiment on songs. So when NCT songs were released it was always "WTF is this song" or " What the hell SM you cooking in lab again" NCT songs are not for everyone LOL. But the fanbase is huge tho.
fun fact tho, NCT songs were always used as audition or performance evaluations for Idol variety shows like Produce 101 or Island or something.

Just wanted to clarify about Lucas scandal it wasn’t big outside of Twitter and was hardly talked about in Korea and that’s surprising because knetz cling onto anything to slander idols.
The scandal itself was ridiculous and he got “booted” from nct due to internal conflicts within the company (Chris lee vs Sooman and hybe+kakao) and it was an entire mess employees were resigning and a large influx of idols left and are still leaving because the company doesn’t prioritize them.
So Lucas got put on the back burner while the company was moving blind.
And the way they brought him back was plain irritating. SM has a knack for trying to go global/international while clinging on and handling things through a Korean perspective and cultural values you’ll hear their idols apologizing over the dumbest things on earth while the company itself doesn’t clarify anything.
And I would say his popularity is actual doing pretty well for the 2.5 hiatus, his ep sold relatively high which many people didn’t expect and his fancons were almost sold out immediately and he charts pretty well in Korea and intl and he’s still extremely popular in china. the only real concern would be keeping the moment up for the longevity of his career.
Sorry for the essay and I would love to see you guys get into more of the rnb side of SM it’s pretty much their bread and butter/ staple for a majority of their groups along with vocals. The founder of SM was heavily inspired by Motown so there’s a lot of old school producers like darkchild, dem jointz and Harvey mason jr that work with them just to name a few

In fact, the group that debuted first was Exo in the 3rd generation, Exo debuted in 2012, while BTS in 2013. Why is Exo less famous, because the agency lacks promotion. Because there were so many NCT members, a unit was created, the first unit built was NCT127

I’m not a fan of “Boss” either. Not sure I could tell you why though … it just bores me. Maybe it’s that it tried to recreate some sound and vibes of past NCT hits, and it fell short imo.
“The 7th Sense” on the other hand remains a TOP favorite - top favorite of NCT’s and in K-pop overall.

His MV are masterpiece (whole movies), plus that dude edit those babies on his own which is even more impressive. If you're intrested you can start with "Peanut, butter and Tears" or "Nerves". Lil info about him : My boy have Bipolar Disorder 1 and DID (dissociative identity disorder) which influence alot his music and MV production. Oh and his MV have HEAVY lore.

😅 NCT127 became my favorite of the sub-units, Wayv #2 but many of their title tracks I had a 🤔😶 but they grew on me. Makes you suspect subliminal messages are a thing 😅.

I don’t think you pick good songs for nct for beginners. Ay-yo; Favourite, Limitless, sticker are always better to show first. Boss and Kick it are weak contenders and I say that as an nct stan. You only show people boss and kick it much later otherwise they usually get turned off.
