    Hello I am looking to build a stand like this for my 90 gallon, I was wanting the stand to be about 58 inches long instead of 48. Do you have any advice on this?

    that aquarion stand will for sure hold 800 lbs. 800 pounds and a slight breeze you are asking for trouble

    Awesome. Each vertical 2x4 should be able to hold 1,000 lbs before failing so in essence that stand could hold about 8,000 lbs.

    You did a good job on that stand! I have average construction skills as well but I'm too nervous to build one..

    Looks good. I made a stand similar at exactly 35” height as well. You should add an extra 2x4 in the center/rear for added support.

      That would probably be good, but then how could he get the sump in the stand? I guess lower it from the top? But then he would never be able to get it out while the display tank is there.

      @@letskate11 Actually, it's not that hard. Place the sump in there first and then add the extra support with a just a few screws, so that you can easily remove that stud again whenever needed. Usually when you place a big sump in there, it's there to stay for a very long time and usually only gets removed when selling the thing, or when it needs a reseal or if you want to replace the sump with an upgraded one. Emptying it, changing/cleaning/adding the media and so on can simply be done at the front.
      Cheers.

    I am with you on the store bought stands. They're not much good for anything unless you need some kindling, I like the design of your stand. I need to build another one for my 75, I just got new lights and I need to figure out away to suspend them above my tank without having a canopy. I would like to see the bottom of your stand underneath the plywood, mainly as a guide to see how to figure out the bracing, so I can maybe figure out how to attach a way to include a rail to run the lights on. I want to extend my lights 18 inches above the tank ,so I can protect the lights from salt creep, as they where near a $1000. for the lights.

    I did my own stand as well watching the you tube videos I am a woman with construction skills hey everyone its easy just measure twice cut once you can do it. I have to put my sides on , top and doors and then stain it and hope to do all that after work each night and have it set up next weekend. we got all our 2x4's from house construction sites the wood they throw away nothing wrong with it, just have to pull a few nails out and sand down. i am so happy with it. compared to the ones you buy there just not the good sturdy quality. GOOD LUCK Y'all you can do it.

    If I built this 75 gal stand, you think it's ok if I put 55 gal tank on this stand for temporary ? I do this until I get the 75 gal Tank.

    Hey bro! Is it ok not to put a center support at the back? Nice vid btw!

    • @LazyAssReefer
      @LazyAssReefer  5 лет назад +2

      The tensile strength of a 2x4 is something ridiculous like 900lbs. Just Google 2x4 tensile strength and do independent research. If you are uncomfortable just add a brace. This tank has been up for over a year with no issues. :)
