Christopher Walken's first role was a small part in the Woody Allen film 'Annie Hall'. And in it he gave... you guessed it... an unhinged monologue. That's what he's known for.
I love your reactions so much. Not only by the reaction itself, because it's so funny, but you actually take the time to read about the movie and watch it again after before talking about it. It's something I also like to do, so yeah. Great video as always
Fact: Travolta is an amazing dancer (Vaselina, Saturday Night Fever) and Uma Thurman was terrified to make the dance scene with this legend, but he was nice with her. Thank you Whymsory for react to this masterpiece. I (F word) love your channel, I'm sure you're the only one who rewatch the movies and research more information about the movie. The awards ceremony is unique.
Tarantino really changed the film landscape with his approach to filmmaking. The way this story worjed its way to the middle from both ends is pretty brilliant. And its such an immensely quotable film. One of my all time favorites. I love your method of analysis and observation of movies. Awesome work!
The only part I don't love is the French wife. She is just a drag as a character, and I don't think the performance is very good either. BTW, watching this reaction is the first time I noticed Butch talks to a French female cabbie and then his French wife immediately after. Weird. Maybe the cabbie is actually an hallucination?
It's a gimmick that only works the first time you see the film. Tarantino relies too much on shock value with the violence. Entertaining film but no masterpiece.
Fruit Brute was in fact a real cereal. It was part of the monster cereal line, like Count Chocula and Franken Berry. Unlike Count Chocula, I don't think they make it anymore.
It came back a couple of times for special anniversary production runs, most recently in 2022. Fruit Brute (also produced as Frute Brute) isn’t currently in production, but that doesn’t mean that it won’t ever be back for another limited production run.
Franken Berry was pretty good. Count Chocula was OK, but (if memory serves) it was like chocolate Rice Krispies. The real question is, are you Quake? Or Quisp? (Both cereals were the same, but in different shapes.)
Actually Vincent heard the door opening, but he thought it was just Marcellus who went to buy some donuts 💀 Fun Fact: the reason Vincent always in the bathroom in the movie is because a common side effect of heroine constipation.
"That's not a real cereal." It was. Count Chocula, Frankenberry, Boo Berry and so on are all part of the same series of monster-themed cereals. Fruit Brute was the Werewolf.
I dont know why but i always laugh when Christopher Walken starts talking about how he hid the watch up his ass for years. Its such a sudden and random thing in an otherwise emotional scene.
I saw this when it was in theaters back in the day...I was 24 and even then and after seeing this movie dozens of times all those lines still get me...the SAME lines you highlighted...mushroom cloud, shot Marvin, Bad Mofo wallet...very nice reactions!
So glad someone else picked up on my favourite line, Whimsory's best comeback. Always loved that it's just a little throwaway and it instantly puts Jimmy back in his puny little place.
Hi! I just found your channel and love it! I thoroughly enjoy seeing people's reactions to movies for the first time! I wanted to mention a fun fact I didn't see anyone else mention- John Travolta was instructed by a recovering heroin addict to drink tequila and sit in a hottub to get the closest feeling of being on heroin without actually having to do so...
While heroin _can_ be snorted, that stuff was pure and too powerful (which Lance even makes note of when selling to Vincent) for the amount in the line she did.
#1: most reaction channels on RUclips go mainly off of subscriber suggestions which means we see A LOT of the same old stuff. You on the other hand have chosen to go primarily by a list of 250 of the most beloved movies of all time, and occasionally a subscriber suggestions (and most of those are found on the list). #2: Most RUclips reaction channels keep mainly to talking through the movie whenI really I just want to see them watch the movie. You do make comments throughout. However, the comments you make are not forced. It's like we're actually sitting in a living room with a bunch of friends and watching it all together. #3: Your commentary at the end of the pictures are extremely insightful. I love films and love learning about films. Everything about the medium excites me. You're channel is one of my favorite film channels, not simply reaction channels. #4: You have created an amazing format. I initially started watching only the second half of the video because hearing about how people respond to my favorite movies thrills me. But the complete experience of your videos is a complete experience. Your channel is amazing. I hope you keep it up for as long as it's fun for you.
42:07 "He could've left but couldn't do it" That's what makes the gold watch story even better, it isn't just a McGuffin like the suitcase, it gave Butch a moral background, he knew he had to help his enemy from those monsters. Plus what happened to him and Marcellus is in a way similar to what his father and Christopher Walken's character experienced
The coffee was for Vincent, that was Marcellus's gun on the counter (not really one you can conceal and take to the shops). Vincent in the bathroom is because of the heroin addiction, he's constipated (you never hear a flush till the apartment), he quit after Mia's OD and things start working again. But everything bad happens when Vincent is in the bathroom, and he is the one who doesn't change his evil ways and he gets offed because of it. One of the best movies, enjoyable is Smokey and The Bandit for laughs and just enjoying yourself (grew up with it, and it was second to star wars for money in 77)
You're kinda the best ever on movie reactions. Just recently discovered the channel, and I love the fact that you genuinely care enough to do a post-react review to come back for a for a breakdown. Good stuff! Also trivia: it was in the oldies cafe sitting at tge "car table" where between scenes Uma Thurman and Quentin Tarrantino came up with Kill Bill, which they loosely reference her character b/c her pilot show is the rough draft concept for Kill Bill. 😁
Go back to her first one to see her mission statement when she says she loves movies but realized she hadnt seen anything on the IMDb top 250, it's awesome, she really is the best react channel 🤟
"What if he can't dance!?" Said the young kid with no idea who John Travlota is. Love it. And the azz watch "Best story of traveling jewelry since Lord of the Rings" GOLD. Stealing that one.
great reaction. i learned some things in your outro even though ive seen this film several times. 1 thing i'll add that you didnt mention. when vincent says "aw man , i shot marvin in the face", it was travolta who added the clause "in the face" to the script. he said to tarentino "trust me its funnier this way", and tarentino said fine. personally i think that change improved that moment immensely.
So Reservoir Dogs is before this. In there appears Vincent Vega's brother Vic Vega. And many of us thought when this came out that the briefcase is the one from Reservoir Dogs .Also here when Uma is describing the Assassins to Vincent play closr attention. She is basically describing characters from Kill Bill.
As far as pay goes, keep in mind that both Willis and Travolta were in down periods in their careers at the time. This movie made them stars again. I think Butch went back because of the gold watch story he heard as a kid. That story taught him about honor. Walken's character even starts out saying something like 'When two men are held prisoner...". I don't think it's a coincidence that we hear that story then later Butch is taken prisoner with Marcellus. Butch had that opportunity to redeem himself and he took it. That's why he gets to ride off into the sunset sort of. The scene where Butch runs over Marcellus is definitely a nod to Psycho. BUT the pawn shop scene is a nod to a scene in the movie Deliverance. I can highly recommend that movie. Even if you never do a reaction video with it, it's worth seeing simply because it's such a good movie and it influenced a lot of other movies.
Awesome, Whimsory! So glad you caught the Psycho reference. Most younger people will miss that, but it's definitely an homage from Tarantino to Hitchcock. Also, I love your observation about Butch's humanity in going back to rescue Marcellus. Very perceptive!👏
A lot of reactors don't appreciate this film like you did, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Its hard to imagine where Tarantino comes up with stuff like this but he is a master at writing dialogue and building tension, as well as dropping you right into the middle of a fascinating conversation
13:14 - Frute Brute is a real cereal (at least it was at some point). Part of the "monster cereals" from General Mills like Count Chocula, Boo Berry, Frankenberry, Yummy Mummy...
Mayo is really good on most potatoes, including french fries. Most people of most countries think we're pretty weird for putting ketchup on fries. They ain't wrong. Great reaction!
I am so glad I found your channel!!! Your reactions are fantastic! I love how you research the film at the end to learn more about it! My partner and I have started doing some reactions and learning how to be better at it and this is definitely going to become an inspiration for us.
"The best story about traveling jewelry since Lord of the Rings". That thar is some quality content! I was really pleasantly surprised how you participated in the movie instead of judging this or that or trying to guess ahead what would happen. I think Tarantino's style suits your style.
Quentin Tarantino did another movie previous to this (Reservoir dogs). In that movie there is a character called Mr.Blonde. The actor who played Mr.Blonde was going to be the one to play Vincent Vega, meaning Vincent Vega was going to be Mr.Blonde. But the actor Michael Madsen passed the roll because he was in another project at the time. Instead the roll was given to John Travolta, and the new character was named Vincent, which is Mr.Blondes (Victor Vega) brother.
Keep up the great work, your reactions show a lot of work and effort that really makes you stand out. I especially like your rankings for your favorite parts in the end.
It's funny, I had just watched a couple channels react to this within the last week or so. And I actually went and checked your channel to see if you had done a reaction to it as I think you're one of the best, if not the best, movie reaction channels out there. And bam, here you are today uploading a reaction to it. Serendipitous indeed. Or maybe I should be more like Jules and take it as a sign from God that you are the best reaction channel out there. After all, Vince just saw coincidence and nothing else, and then he got shot coming off the crapper :D
I love it when you're not sure if you should laugh or not at certain scenes. You make your reactions really unique and witty and you are so likeable and really sweet......this is no cheap flattery, i honestly mean it. Greetings from Germany
This movie absolutely blew my effing mind when I saw it in the theater. I can only call it a revelation. The tension it builds up in various scenes was palpable, like the whole audience was holding its breath, especially when the needle was poised over Mia. ...Zed is also a bad guy in Usual Suspects, which is another must-see if you haven't seen it yet.
Just wanted to say that I really enjoy your ultra-thorough breakdowns! It's always fun to revisit facts and learn little new things about the films, which makes the revisiting them with the reactions even more satisfying! Thanks for sharing another one of these with us!!
I really enjoy your reactions. I follow a dozen or so reaction channels. While they all provide the reaction, you take it further with your outros. Your reactions are quickly becoming one of my favorites. There are many movies that I wish reactors would watch. But three movies I never see with the other channels that have a small cult following. 1996 - Desperado - Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek - Action, Comedy, romance. 2006/2009 - Crank / Crank: High Voltage - Jason Statham and Amy Smart - Action Comedy Not top 250 but I think you and your followers would thoroughly enjoy them. Keep up your work... Peace ✌️
23:54 He played the villain in The Mask. "The truth is _you're the weak._ And I am the tyranny of evil men." Favorite line. 33:24 You're correct. The other coffee was for Vincent. Jules has just left the picture, so Marcellus was staking out Butch's place with Vincent and went to get them breakfast. Who knows, if they'd known Butch had toaster pastries in the cupboard, maybe Butch would be dead and Vincent would've survived.
Says of John Travolta, "What if he CAN'T dance?" That's precious LOL OFC, it would have been hilarious to have Travolta play a character that couldn't dance, but at this point the director and studio and Travolta himself absolutely needed the marketing angle of Travolta's return a the dance floor on the silver screen.
In the 90s a lot of movies were made by creators inspired by Pulp Fiction telling the story out of order from the perspective of different characters. Go! was probably the best of these other movies.
45:20... AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH LOL!! THAT'S why he looks so familiar lol!! I thought he just reminded me of Owen Wilson lol. Nah that's it, the evil dude from The Mask!! Good catch! \O>
"I was ready to go save Marcellus myself!" 😅 Butch's weapon selection scene comes around to some of Quentin's other movies. Still waiting for him to use a chainsaw in something.
FUN FACT: There are those that believe that Butch remained in the pawn shop to save Marcellus because he saw a subliminal message that compelled him to do so. As Butch is exiting the Pawn Shop, he grabs the keys to Zed's Chopper off the counter. The keys are attached to a key ring with a large "Z" attached. Immediately after this, Butch glances over his right shoulder as he walks to the door. Looking over his right shoulder, Butch's view includes, among many things, a neon sign that is sitting on one of the shelves. Now, while Butch obviously didn't study the neon sign, he would have been aware of it on a subliminal level. This neon sign is usually hung in bars to advertise a brand of the alcoholic beverage ale. The sign reads "Killian's Red." However, on this particular sign, the portion that reads "ian's ed" is burned out. This leaves a neon sign that reads "Kill ed." If you combine this neon sign with the key ring for the chopper, you get a message that says, "Kill Zed." "KILL ZED." I'm sure that this was intentional and not simply an accidentally message.
That sounds like a serious stretch. Butch isn’t evil, & knows it would be absolutely cruel to leave Marcellus to stay tortured. And in the end he leaves with his life & his personal honor.
“THAT’S NOT YOURS!” “You’re driving like that!” 🤣🤣The love for Whimsory is boundless. lol, totally forgot about the old school view of the city during the cab ride. Man I love this movie and I played the shot out of this soundtrack on cassette tape.
It's a great film, I'm glad that you liked it, Whimsory. I like most of Tarantino's films and this is one of my favourites along with "Jackie Brown" and "Inglorious Bastards".
Antoine Roccamora a half black/half Samoan organized crime figure known to some as Tony Rocky Horror. A character that doesn't even appear in this movie had been stuck in my head since I saw this in the theaters when it first came out, it's the little flairs of dialogue that make a QT script so fun to watch, i can't imagine anyone else would have come up with that name in a million passes at this script, but it is so evocative and makes perfect sense when you hear it that you can't help but think that it can only be the name of an actual person.
I think it's great that you watch a movie multiple times and even do some research after whenever you do a reaction to a movie. I can't think of any other reaction channel that does that so it's just nice to see someone go above and beyond 👍
The square/rectangle thing is a popular kid/bully meme from the '50's. They always draw a rectangle and say, "square," to get you to prove that you're a square when you correct them, so you'd look like a fool to their throng.
Omg! You're the cutest reactor I have ever seen. You have tons of personality, you're funny, really unique style and you're clearly very smart, you should be acting yourself, the camera really likes you. You should really think about going to audition for a pilot, if I had just 10% of the talent you have I would be.
Pulp Fiction. A violent F word Ridden classic. With dialog that is so well written. While it is much more graphic and violent, Kill Bill actually has an origin in this with the Fox Force Five scene with Uma. It is also excellent and worth a watch.
This was one of the most intelligent and considered reactions I've seen in a long time. Instant follow - thank you Whimsory, you obviously put a lot of time into this.
To clear it up for you - Mia was a cokehead, she was snorting cocaine - Vincent is a horsehead, He injects heroine, top quality smack, and Mia snorted his heroine, thinking it was just more coke, which could have screwed her up without having coke in the mix. But with coke in the mix... a Death Cocktail.
Back in the Windows XP days (maybe the one right before) you could easily apply sounds to all your warning command sounds or system sounds. I put a bunch of Pulp Fiction lines. My error sound. was Jules saying “I don’t remember asking you a god damn thing”. And another one was “look at the big brain on Brad”. I heard them so often for the years I had the computer. Now when I hear those scenes in the movie I’m instantly alert. Memory is a weird thing. And watching movies over and over makes one appreciate the lines that linger. I’m glad you enjoyed the movie. I was worried at first when you said you hoped they wouldn’t hurt them 😬

Whimsory: What if he can’t dance?
Barbarino (different Vincent, same Travolta): Hey, up your nose with a rubber hose.
Let's not forget the capital one dancing santa
@@markhamstra1083 to add to that, the box there is one of the originals from QT's personal collection.
Frute Brute was actually available again this past Halloween. It's pretty mediocre. LOL !
Boo Berry.
Franken Berry was pretty good. Count Chocula was OK, but (if memory serves) it was like chocolate Rice Krispies.
The real question is, are you Quake? Or Quisp? (Both cereals were the same, but in different shapes.)
I've never assumed that "don't drop the soap in the prison shower" was a joke. I've always assumed it was advice.
Actually Vincent heard the door opening, but he thought it was just Marcellus who went to buy some donuts 💀
Fun Fact: the reason Vincent always in the bathroom in the movie is because a common side effect of heroine constipation.
Constipation backs you up, so you visit the bathroom less
@@4Kandlez Not if you're body is constantly trying to get things going. @OhitsGeo Appreciate the insight about heroin constipation.
@@4Kandlez It can also means when you do go, it takes longer to move everything - hence Vincent always bringing a book with him
@@4Kandlez You feel like you want to go but can't, so you visitr the can but nothing comes out - that's constipation.
Where's the evidence Vincent heard the door?
He didn't hear the screaming during the diner robbery.
24:04 XD
Edit...this was SUCH a good reaction. I am a happy new subscriber.
"That's not a real cereal."
It was. Count Chocula, Frankenberry, Boo Berry and so on are all part of the same series of monster-themed cereals. Fruit Brute was the Werewolf.
I dont know why but i always laugh when Christopher Walken starts talking about how he hid the watch up his ass for years. Its such a sudden and random thing in an otherwise emotional scene.
its an excellent monologue that veers into a Norm Macdonald-esque joke
Imagine showing up to the casting call and getting the part of the gimp
I saw this when it was in theaters back in the day...I was 24 and even then and after seeing this movie dozens of times all those lines still get me...the SAME lines you highlighted...mushroom cloud, shot Marvin, Bad Mofo wallet...very nice reactions!
Ohh Whimsory, she’s so innocent. She deserves all the likes and more subscribers for putting herself through this 22:52 😂👍🏽
Your reactions are brilliant. You pay close attention and do your homework. I could watch you all day. Keep making videos and I'll keep watching
So glad someone else picked up on my favourite line, Whimsory's best comeback. Always loved that it's just a little throwaway and it instantly puts Jimmy back in his puny little place.
I can't quote my favorite line completely but is when Jules is on the Phone and says: You sendin the Wolf? Shii that's all you had to say😹😹
Such a perfect reaction and reactor in general. I hope many more people find your channel. You deserve so much more support. Amazing work.
Mia found Vincent’s stash. She snorted it thinking it was cocaine when it was actually heroin. So yeah, she took too much and the wrong way.
While heroin _can_ be snorted, that stuff was pure and too powerful (which Lance even makes note of when selling to Vincent) for the amount in the line she did.
Because it was in a baggie.
19:34
Good point. If my neighbor killed somebody in a boxing match yesterday, I might just remember seeing him today.
I've probably seen this movie 50 times, and I've never noticed Vincent walking to the bathroom behind Hunny Bunny!
Zed also played Redfoot in the Usual Suspects. The actor did have a bit of a criminal history IRL.
Cant believe i never noticed.
The cafe is a copy of Ed Debevic’s, which was on North La Cienega in Beverly Hills. It was a 50s style diner with the theatric wait staff as well.
Marsellus' line "I'm gonna get medieval on your ass!" was huge in pop culture in its day - a meme before there were memes.
32:54
I nearly peed on myself laughing.
Never change, Whimsory.
The best introduction: "I'm Winston Wolf. I solve problems". Everybody needs a Winston Wolf in their life.
Awesome, Whimsory! So glad you caught the Psycho reference. Most younger people will miss that, but it's definitely an homage from Tarantino to Hitchcock. Also, I love your observation about Butch's humanity in going back to rescue Marcellus. Very perceptive!👏
"bring out the gimp"
"what is that!"
oh boy lmaooo
In a movie full of epic one-liners, my favourite line is: “Zed’s dead, baby! Zed’s dead!” Great reaction as always, Whimsory!
Fruit Brute is indeed a real cereal. It’s made by the same people who make Count Chocula and Franken Berry.
A lot of reactors don't appreciate this film like you did, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Its hard to imagine where Tarantino comes up with stuff like this but he is a master at writing dialogue and building tension, as well as dropping you right into the middle of a fascinating conversation
When Mia is talking about her TV show, she is describing "Kill Bill" in which she (Uma Turman) plays the main character.
I was going to argue but realised the similarities as i started typing.touche
13:14 - Frute Brute is a real cereal (at least it was at some point). Part of the "monster cereals" from General Mills like Count Chocula, Boo Berry, Frankenberry, Yummy Mummy...
Mayo is really good on most potatoes, including french fries. Most people of most countries think we're pretty weird for putting ketchup on fries. They ain't wrong. Great reaction!
A lot of people consider it blasphemy to put ketchup on a hot dog, lol
Fries/crinkle cuts & ranch, now that’s my favorite :3
I prefer plain fries to mayo or ketchup, but chips with gravy is god tier.
You are all correct.
Who else smashes the like button before watching the video?? 😁👍🏽
Just did it 😂
I am so glad I found your channel!!!
Dude, I really enjoyed the awards you gave out and I hope it becomes a staple of your channel if you are so inclined. Thanks for the lolz. =]
Quentin Tarantino did another movie previous to this (Reservoir dogs).
In that movie there is a character called Mr.Blonde.
The actor who played Mr.Blonde was going to be the one to play Vincent Vega, meaning
Vincent Vega was going to be Mr.Blonde. But the actor Michael Madsen passed the roll because he was
in another project at the time. Instead the roll was given to John Travolta, and the new character
was named Vincent, which is Mr.Blondes (Victor Vega) brother.
Was just typing this.
I always wondered if Marcellus would still have let Butch go if he knew that Butch had just killed Vincent.
My favorite line is: Winston Wolf - "So pretty please, with sugar on top, clean the fucking car!"
Just wanted to say that I really enjoy your ultra-thorough breakdowns! It's always fun to revisit facts and learn little new things about the films, which makes the revisiting them with the reactions even more satisfying! Thanks for sharing another one of these with us!!
“The best story about traveling jewelry since LOTR” omg I cackled outloud
Im proud of you... and Ringo is proud of you.
2006/2009 - Crank / Crank: High Voltage - Jason Statham and Amy Smart - Action Comedy
Not top 250 but I think you and your followers would thoroughly enjoy them.
Keep up your work... Peace ✌️
Heckuvan awesome cast in this iconic flick, and I've just realized that Whimsory is the greatest character in this whole movie! 🎥🎉
Terrific video about one of my favorites, really appreciate your research and insight!
Says of John Travolta, "What if he CAN'T dance?" That's precious LOL
OFC, it would have been hilarious to have Travolta play a character that couldn't dance, but at this point the director and studio and Travolta himself absolutely needed the marketing angle of Travolta's return a the dance floor on the silver screen.
In the 90s a lot of movies were made by creators inspired by Pulp Fiction telling the story out of order from the perspective of different characters. Go! was probably the best of these other movies.
Go!
Is pretty damn good. I need to re-watch that!
Go! is wildly underrated, with a great cast and rave soundtrack.
I haven’t thought of Go! in years. Definitely will have to rewatch that.
45:20... AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH LOL!! THAT'S why he looks so familiar lol!! I thought he just reminded me of Owen Wilson lol. Nah that's it, the evil dude from The Mask!! Good catch!
\O>
"I was ready to go save Marcellus myself!"
😅
Butch's weapon selection scene comes around to some of Quentin's other movies. Still waiting for him to use a chainsaw in something.
First sight of a ball-gag and Whimsory says, "Oh no." Good call!
This leaves a neon sign that reads "Kill ed." If you combine this neon sign with the key ring for the chopper, you get a message that says, "Kill Zed."
"KILL ZED."
I'm sure that this was intentional and not simply an accidentally message.
That sounds like a serious stretch.
Butch isn’t evil, & knows it would be absolutely cruel to leave Marcellus to stay tortured. And in the end he leaves with his life & his personal honor.
Yes, the internet is full of morons...
I can’t explain why Butch went back. Maybe was some Stockholm Syndrome thing?
Your explanation was as good as any.
“THAT’S NOT YOURS!”
“You’re driving like that!”
🤣🤣The love for Whimsory is boundless.
lol, totally forgot about the old school view of the city during the cab ride. Man I love this movie and I played the shot out of this soundtrack on cassette tape.
It's a great film, I'm glad that you liked it, Whimsory. I like most of Tarantino's films and this is one of my favourites along with "Jackie Brown" and "Inglorious Bastards".
Whimsory had an amazing transition when she went into post-editing, I loved it
Antoine Roccamora a half black/half Samoan organized crime figure known to some as Tony Rocky Horror. A character that doesn't even appear in this movie had been stuck in my head since I saw this in the theaters when it first came out, it's the little flairs of dialogue that make a QT script so fun to watch, i can't imagine anyone else would have come up with that name in a million passes at this script, but it is so evocative and makes perfect sense when you hear it that you can't help but think that it can only be the name of an actual person.
i love your in depth analysis at the end of each film.
John Travolta can dance just check out Saturday night fever from 1977
Omg! You're the cutest reactor I have ever seen. You have tons of personality, you're funny, really unique style and you're clearly very smart, you should be acting yourself, the camera really likes you. You should really think about going to audition for a pilot, if I had just 10% of the talent you have I would be.
Mia incorrectly assumed Vincent's heroic was cocaine.
"say what again!!!" is my favorite line... "that's my wife" always gets me chuckling too.
Amazing reaction yo
I was worried at first when you said you hoped they wouldn’t hurt them 😬
Love the recap part of this reaction. Just the best.
