@@atkm11 The ‘curtiss valve’ is a post war invention and, although generally a good thing, can be prone to leaking. This is a particular problem with fuels containing alcohol. The Aeronca originally had a glass bowl filter and I am fitting a glass bowl filter to the firewall on the C2. As long as the bowl is inspected regularly (easy with a torch) then the old fashioned glass bowl is alright.
I’m going to look for a filter for the top of the gascolator in my kitfox, great idea. Also, your use of Vaseline is inspired, I will be using that as well. Thank you.
Great idea to have a fuel drain on the filter, I wonder why it is not a standard thing. Going to get a new fuel bowl made as I have some HE30.
