3:36-4:04 is probably one of my favorite moments in music. The intense vocal transition into one of the most energetic, epic and purely metal solos I have ever heard. "Like my soul you wont survive" *begin intense headbanging*
good speed metal intro and verse sections, good soft dynamic pre chorus, nice groovy mid tempo chorus, and a slow melodic bridge. Turns into a great solo that fits the structure of the song and brings it all together. Then brings you back.
And finally the anger and grief about Jimmy starts to show through, THIS is tribute, pure fucking emotion poured in until you can't even remember he's not here, you can feel Jimmy in the room in this one, Love it
This song is just pure eargasm, plain and simple. This one and Buried Alive's ending solo as well. Oh, and most of Nightmare too. Fuck that, I should say ALL of A7X is just eargasm. I would listen to this band nonstop if it were possible.
It's always bothered me how well-written this songs lyrics are that nobody seems to pay attention to. Not a lot of people seem to know that this song is about mass murderers and their desperation for media coverage to make them famous. The title Natural Born Killer is both a reference to Columbine (while planning, their codename for the day of the shooting was "NBK (Natural Born Killers)"), as well as the movie Natural Born Killers, which is also about mass murderers who become media celebrities, and both Columbine shooters were huge fans of. Anyway here's a massive comment reading into the lyrics because I have nothing better to do "One snap for the dying One click to end the day Another story with a mangled scene It couldn't happen any other way" yet another tragic crime-scene left behind by a shooter/killer, something that we've unfortunately seen so many times that we've gotten used to it and it does feel that "it couldn't happen any other way". This part could also be interpreted as the killer being so far gone and ready to die that their suicide couldn't happen any other way. As with most mass shootings, the shooter turns the gun on himself afterwards and ends everything with the pull of a trigger, hence "one click to end the day" "You want to talk about it? I'm begging you to walk in my shoes any time Watch the clock till you unwind You want to cry about it It's making me consider that I've lost my mind The way I see you must be blind" the shooter talking directly to the media, or witnesses/victims of the crime, wanting others to look into their tragic life/twisted mind to find out why they did it, or to "walk in my shoes". Many mass murderers were chasing the fame they'd get after they die, turning their sad lives into a tragic story that people would hear and actually care about, rather than just dying alone and unknown. "So this is the world you left behind This is the guilt that consumes you" Seems to be a moment of mental clarity, with the killers own conscience talking to them. "So you've thrown everything away just for this? Was it all worth it?" "So die alone This is the one thing that I won't do So say your prayers 'Cause I ain't leaving here without you" The killer refuses to die alone, instead going out in a blaze of glory. Again a reference to how many mass shooters are loners, depressed and cast out from society. To them, taking others out with them is their way of not dying alone as a nobody, but taking innocent people with them and becoming somewhat of a celebrity instead. "Can't bribe me with money Can't shower me with shame Another killer from a broken home Until you cover me with manic fame" pretty literal and self-explanatory when you know what the song is about. The killer directly talking to his victims/the media, he's not carrying out this crime for money or any other ulterior motives, he just wants the world to pay attention to what he's doing and turn him into a celebrity and learn about his tragic life. "You want to know about it? But I'ma be fucking with you every time Story broken, you're behind And when you ask about it You can rest assured I'll give you my best side Seems we all have friends to find" Again talking directly to the media as if being interviewed from beyond the grave, he knows they'll want to know about his crime, why he did it, what his reasonings are. He assures he'll give the world his "best side" (it's a common trope that many people have a certain "side" they show the camera, both literally, as in a more attractive angle to show of their face, and figuratively, as in putting on a false persona to appear better/more likeable/attractive rather than showing their true selves). Many mass murderers leave behind videos, manifestos, etc playing up the persona they want to be remembered by, trying to act tough and threatening, etc. An obvious example would be the Basement Tapes made by the Columbine shooters, which was never released to the public but was intended to be shown on the news and go viral after they died. "So this is the hate I've been born to Full are the tales of the untrue" Another moment of clarity/self-reflection with the killers conscience, reflecting on how he ended up in this dark, hateful state of mind rather than things turning out differently and ending some other way. "(No hesitating) (You pull the trigger, now your story's left behind) I know you wanna see me fry Like my soul You won't survive" Again, very literal and self-explanatory if you know the meaning of the song. Almost a darker rephrase of "One click to end the day" from the first verse, after committing their crime and taking innocent people down with them, the shooter turns the gun on himself and leaves his story to be told by the media. He knows everyone will hate him and want him to fry in hell (this could also be a reference to the electric chair, but considering most shooters commit suicide and never go to prison, I'm going with hell) "To die unknown Would crush the fish-lens we all see through To kill the glare Expose the ugliness we hold true" A final conclusion to the entire idea of a murderer going out in a blaze of glory to make their story heard, they contrast the idea of instead living out their life and dying alone, as a nobody, with their story never being told. Kill the cameras and lights, drop the false killer persona, let everyone see you for the damaged, broken, weak person they truly are.

eargasm
Sorry. I can't contain my eargasming over amazing music.
Light Yagami Why are you listening to A7X instead of killing us all?
I am a natural born killer. Why else would I be listening to Avenged Sevenfold?
Natural born killer of what?! Insects? Get the fuck outta here!
Joey Bartholomew At one point I was Light Yagami from Death Note. If you don't watch it you won't get it.

"One snap for the dying
One click to end the day
Another story with a mangled scene
It couldn't happen any other way"
yet another tragic crime-scene left behind by a shooter/killer, something that we've unfortunately seen so many times that we've gotten used to it and it does feel that "it couldn't happen any other way". This part could also be interpreted as the killer being so far gone and ready to die that their suicide couldn't happen any other way.
As with most mass shootings, the shooter turns the gun on himself afterwards and ends everything with the pull of a trigger, hence "one click to end the day"
"You want to talk about it?
I'm begging you to walk in my shoes any time
Watch the clock till you unwind
You want to cry about it
It's making me consider that I've lost my mind
The way I see you must be blind"
the shooter talking directly to the media, or witnesses/victims of the crime, wanting others to look into their tragic life/twisted mind to find out why they did it, or to "walk in my shoes". Many mass murderers were chasing the fame they'd get after they die, turning their sad lives into a tragic story that people would hear and actually care about, rather than just dying alone and unknown.
"So this is the world you left behind

Seems to be a moment of mental clarity, with the killers own conscience talking to them. "So you've thrown everything away just for this? Was it all worth it?"

To them, taking others out with them is their way of not dying alone as a nobody, but taking innocent people with them and becoming somewhat of a celebrity instead.
"Can't bribe me with money
Can't shower me with shame
Another killer from a broken home
Until you cover me with manic fame"
pretty literal and self-explanatory when you know what the song is about. The killer directly talking to his victims/the media, he's not carrying out this crime for money or any other ulterior motives, he just wants the world to pay attention to what he's doing and turn him into a celebrity and learn about his tragic life.
"You want to know about it?
But I'ma be fucking with you every time
Story broken, you're behind
And when you ask about it
You can rest assured I'll give you my best side
Seems we all have friends to find"
Again talking directly to the media as if being interviewed from beyond the grave, he knows they'll want to know about his crime, why he did it, what his reasonings are. He assures he'll give the world his "best side" (it's a common trope that many people have a certain "side" they show the camera, both literally, as in a more attractive angle to show of their face, and figuratively, as in putting on a false persona to appear better/more likeable/attractive rather than showing their true selves). "So this is the hate I've been born to
Full are the tales of the untrue"
Another moment of clarity/self-reflection with the killers conscience, reflecting on how he ended up in this dark, hateful state of mind rather than things turning out differently and ending some other way.
"(No hesitating)
(You pull the trigger, now your story's left behind)
I know you wanna see me fry

"To die unknown
Would crush the fish-lens we all see through
To kill the glare
Expose the ugliness we hold true"
A final conclusion to the entire idea of a murderer going out in a blaze of glory to make their story heard, they contrast the idea of instead living out their life and dying alone, as a nobody, with their story never being told. Kill the cameras and lights, drop the false killer persona, let everyone see you for the damaged, broken, weak person they truly are.
