Let’s Turn the Planet into a Vegetable Garden! 💚
Gardens4Good, a non-profit, began on the rooftop of a nursing home in Paris, France, where our founder volunteered to help elderly residents with Alzheimer's start their own vegetable garden. The garden brought them food, healing and joy, inspiring visitors who asked how they, too, could grow their own food. That's how we embarked on a global mission to share gardening tutorials, empowering people everywhere to turn spaces-big or small-into thriving vegetable gardens. Join us in transforming our world into a happy, abundant, sustainable food garden for all!

Planting in winter requires planning, but a living soil keeps growing year-round. Hardy greens like spinach, mache, and claytonia thrive with cold frames or deep mulch, while peas and broad beans benefit from being sown early to establish strong roots. Instead of bare soil, leaving a layer of decomposing organic matter ensures warmth, microbial activity, and better resilience against temperature swings.

I'll stick to my grocery store runs. Too cold for that nonsense

There are plenty of options, but let’s be real-none of them compare to tomatoes. Sure, you can start cold-hardy greens, but wouldn’t you rather invest time in perfecting your early tomato strategy? Start heat mats at 75-80°F, use bottom watering to prevent damping off, and start selecting your indeterminate varieties for the longest harvest window. If you’re not pre-sprouting tomato seeds by now, you’re already behind.
