The fight for kids begins now. Inspired by the powerful true story, Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot, follows Donna and Reverend Martin as they ignite a fire in the hearts of their rural church to embrace kids in the foster system that nobody else would take. By doing the impossible--adopting 77 children--this East Texas community proved that, with real, determined love, the battle for America's most vulnerable can be won.

I was born in Albony, New York and was in the foster care system for a total of three years. This movie had me crying the entire length of the movie as i related to this movie so much. My birth father abandoned my birth mother and my birth mother could not take care of me. I was abandoned and brought into a hospital with blue skin and was very ill from neglect as a child. I had several sibblings however we were all split up. I was adopted at the age of three in the state of Florida in Tampa. This movie is so realistic of what the american adoption system is like. I am 24 years old now. After 21 years after the fact I am still trying to heal my wounds from being adopted. This movie brought back so many memmories as a child being adopted and tore me apart. Due to the trama that I went through there are somethings today that I struggle with such as I am always affraid that someone is going to leave me behind. I still have panic attacks over what I went through as a child. I try to look past all of the trama caused however the movie is so well done that it really expressed what I went through. I know that this story is about Possium Trot; however I hope that there will be more adoption based movies made in the future that are as real as this one. In addition I feel like I constantly need to have food or a snack accessible nearby due to being left to starve as a child. I hope that no other kid has to go through what this movie showed or what I went through as if I had to go through it again I dont think I could make it through. In addition I also related to the knife scene as there are somedays that you were a mistake or a kid noone wanted. It is not always an easy walk in the park as an adopted child. Especially whenever someone asks about your parents. This usually occurs at appointments or job interviews and it hurts to tell people that I am adopted because I just want to be normal sometimes. All in all to end on a high note please go watch this movie for yourself. As an adopted person, this movie will hopefully bring light to a dark area in the United States. My hope is oneday to make a video about my entire story however for the time being I am so thankful to have seen such an amazing movie.

Sharing your experience is greatly appreciated, and you have truly inspired me. What happened to you was terrible , and it takes strength to share it. When I was a child in Long Island, my parents fostered children and adopted one. They were good foster parents, and we learned so much about the difficult experiences of the children. It was a huge eye opener and I will never forget it. I am 50 yrs old now. Young man, you have a whole, good life in front of you and I will pray for you this very night from Texas. I encourage you to keep positive people as friends and remain hopeful. I also encourage you to look into the loving and life changing Gospel of Jesus, find a good church and have fellowship with brothers and sisters under God. Getting tied in to a good church community helped my wife and I so much, when we were in Watertown NY, and I know God can do the same and more for you. Grace, truth and love. And I will pray for your siblings as well.

This is a very sad constant situation. If you get deep down and involved you find yourself in a world you didn't know existed. There is an estimated 380,000 kids in the system at any given time. Not all are up for adoption so I'm guessing that's why they mentioned 100,000 in the trailer. But the system needs good people out there. I place emphasis on "good" because some foster parents are more evil and sick than some of the biological parents. Some kids get adopted and get molested by the foster parents. Good people need to step forward!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Omg I have to see this movie. I'm a champion for improving the foster care and CPS. Why can't we create another source for children like orphanages but give another name. There has to be something we can do for children that have no one. Each state from newborn to 18. I would volunteer my time to any organization that would help any child with no home. Currently I feel it's the worst it's ever been. Children are not protected foster or CPS or trafficked at border, runaways, lost whatever the reason.

They would go to group homes and stay indefinitely or until reunification, adoption, or they age out at 18. However group home scenarios are not ideal and a lot can happen there as well. Children belong in safe families and homes.

The answer to helping the children is the church, however it's up to the case worker, CASA workers and foster parents and attorney ad litems to agree who and if these children get adopted out of foster care. It's not as easy as submitting your interest and filling out the information and picking the child up, Your home has to be selected to adopt that child and sadly the Texas Department of Family and Protective services is not very enthusiastic about adopting children out of the foster care system, even after passing all the State Requirements and qualifications. The state benefits more financially by keeping them in the system.
