My grandfathee owns every Sl except for the 300Sl and the newest model. He even owns the 190sl which you didn‘t mention in this video. It kinda feels like museum seeing them in person. I love how they evolved over the years still never lost their prestige Mercedes Style.
Had my 2001 R129 SL500 now for last 17 years and absolutely love it……..as they say at 75 years it’ll see me out! Now getting the admiration on the road when out and about.
R107 is the perfect combination of classic style but still very enjoyable to drive. It's also simple and straight forward to maintain and fix...a spanner and screwdriver is almost enough for tooling and parts are easy to find...so my vote goes to R107... maybe I'm a little bias as I have a R107 300SL in my garage :-)
As much as I want a 300sl, or 190sl, an R107 just seems more practical, and a bit less expensive. I might have to settle for an R107 like my dad has. Lol
i go for the R129, maybe not a 12-cyl, but in my opinion the most quality driver of these all. Maybe R107 or older are more elegant, but, driving a R129 is an experience
My R129 is the lowest maintenance sports car I've ever owned I use 10 qts of mobil one engine oil and I change my own oil and buy my oil from Walmart and filter and I'm good to go I love my silver and gray interior and keep it clean as a hospital OK enjoy yours
Great video. 129 is my favourite with the Pagoda a close second. 129 is a great looking, well engineered car which is also very reliable. Already a classic, so values will definitely rise.
I have a r230 350 ,yes it’s the basic model but it’s more than good enough for my needs,I love this car the body style it’s a 2007 but still looks very modern and up to date ,I’ve no intention of getting rid of it it’s never let me down ,I’m not a big fan of Mercedes cars in general just always loved the sl
I've owned a red R107 and loved it and I now own 2 R129 1998 models and will own them until my death they are timeless sports car really any model I can love
Owned my 1999 R129 SL320 for 8 years now and love it dearly, did flirt with the 107 body but it's so old fashioned in terms of performance and practicality. The prior models are just too expensive for the ordinary man and the build quality on later models leaves a lot to be desired so the R129 has to be the pick of the bunch in my opinion! Nice review enjoyed the video.
I bought my 1993 SL 320 in 2004 and keep enjoying it. I didn't really consider the R107 back then, but maybe I should have - appreciation has been so strong for those recently.
I just got a 96 SL320 with 43k miles in January been daily driving it since. Only repair was head gasket and suspension work when I first got it. Not a problem since. I've always wanted a R129 now I just need to get some led headlights and rear lights. The stock lights don't cut it.
@@retrovintagemodernhifi-iti2870 Ah, head gasket and suspension... been there, done that... I thought the head gasket was a specific weakness of the old in-line six cylinder but apparently it also befalls the V6. It wasn't even an exotic engine - if I 'm not mistaken, they used it for everything from C- to S-class, so they must have built hundreds of thousands of those things... Have you done the LED conversion yet? I just looked up Osram's compatibility table for their LED system and didn't find the SL on it - if you have experience, please let me know which system you used and how hard it was fitting it.
The R107’s have no guts (other than the Euro .500). The r230 and r231 do not have the build quality. The R129 has the guts and the build quality and it is drop dead good looking so that is why I bought it.
I beg to differ. My 2013 R231 is divine. So comfortable you could live in it. And the 516 pound feet of torque is a dream. You can have your old school SL, but the R231 is king on all fronts in my book! As biased as I know I am.
AGREE! After several years of looking for my next toy, my ‘97 SL 320 is The Swan Song for the last “old school” SL… On all levels. The symbiotic harmony between technology, true Grand Touring and heritage, this is it, period. Amazing are the nimble attributes for form and function, and nothing shy of a home run for MB and Bruno Sacco.
@@aMillionHotels I actually do agree with you as to the merit of the r231 as a vehicle. Let me spread some heresy now. I own a r129 98 600 and the same year 500. They are true SL - as in top of the brand flagships. r231 is not the flagship, nowhere close to it. I believe they are an afterthought for MB with the SLS, S cabrio and the AMG GT. So for me the SL heritage ended with the 07-08 facelifted r230. Don't like the 09 facelift of r230 and r231 front either. Too ricey for me, too much of a pimped Acura feel to it
@@aMillionHotels na newer mercs have massive build quality issues plus its all plastic now no metal and proper wood engines won't last like older r129 engines
From practical to enjoyment and maintenance, R107 still has the edge. After R107, most of other MB roadsters are suffer electrical problems and highly maintenance cost.
100% spot on. R107 was one of the last what merc made their name for. Future generations were fancy but came with load of issues and very expensive maintenance cost
Have many new mercedes. Where are these problems I've been hearing about for years? Why do you people talk without 0 knowledge or experience? Is it what you tell yourselves to come to terms having to miss out on the new cars?
I inherited a 1980 R107 from my dad 7 years ago. My dad got it in 1986 (2nd owner). The first 16 years of ownership my parents lived in Green Bay, WI so the car was stored in the winter and was really a weekend toy. The next 14 years my parents retired to Las Vegas so my dad drove it year round. I live in the Midwest, Michigan when I got it and now northwest of Chicago so it’s back to being a weekend summer toy. The car has about 180,000 miles which sounds like a lot but when you realize the car is 43 years old, that’s only a little over 4000 miles per year. I think my wife actually enjoys driving it more than me. It’s a great car to tour around on country roads or through small towns at low speeds. It always turns heads and is a real conversation starter. While it handles very nicely at high speeds, I am not a fan of the wind noise of the convertible. I have the removable hard top but I never use it. It hoisted up to the ceiling of my garage. As I said, it’s a great touring car. But I prefer a drivers car. I’ve never driven the R 231 but I think I would enjoy it. From you video, I get that impression. I’ll probably never get rid of the R107, mostly because it was my dad’s. And for driving around the country there’s nothing better.
I have a '89 560 SL. I have had it for 20 years now and wouldn't trade it for anything !! Just a pleasure to drive. It also gets a lot of looks on the road when the top is down.
Thomas, thank you. I loved this..I am 66, my dream was the Pagoda, but the 1950's 300SL, wow, the lines are stunning. Imagine this car with modern engine and parts..
I owned a 107, drove it for years from coast to coast, nice car dependable, not complicated for maintenance, a pure Mercedes Benz before they became layered in technology and complicated
Agreed! It's the most beautiful modern SL. The r230 SL55 amg is actually my dreamcar. And the interior is the best design ever in a car. What a machine!
The R107 for me is it. The first time I saw it was actually in a music video (Yvonne Chaka Chaka's Sangoma), and remember thinking just how cool it was and unlike anything else I'd seen before. This was in the late 80's and I was probably 5 or 6 at the time. I'm almost 40 and my favorite SL still remains unchanged.
I miss the W121 190SL. Based on the technology of the W120 Ponton. For me one of the prettiest SL's. I love my 1958 Classic white one with it's sexy back. Until today many spareparts are available at Mercedes Benz. Its absolutly great.
You must be very lazy, as the top is not that hard to raise and lower on the 560SL . I can have the top completely down in my 560SL in 90 seconds ! Plus, when the top is down, you still have very decent trunk space to put your luggage for vacations. I don't think that you thought this one out !
I have owned a 1986 560 SL for two years - looks wise - I don’t think anything better. Except previous models in elegance. But for sure, R107 is a great mix of sixties design with semi-modern conveniences.
Fantastic video, thank you. My choice was a post 1986 R107 300SL. I love the straight six’s sound and ability to rev. Unfortunately not very affordable now in the UK. Undoubtedly the R129 is amazing value but with more complexity and potentially expensive problems. Having sold my SL in 2013 my way back into classic Mercedes was a W126- a 300SE which I love and was amazing value and again I have that fantastic M103
Very clear, informative video. Well done. I have a 280 V6 R129 which needs some work - sadly the front wings have rusted. Hope I can restore it one day and that it will improve its value sometime soon.
Great video brother. I used to have an S350 for 5 years and was still finding clever engineering on it when I sold it onwards. Your english is fantastic, luckily for me as I'm Welsh. Trading my Audi S6 for an SL500 very soon
I still have my 1989 R129, i am presently overhauling the car, its black with the gray skirt straight 6 engine, 24 valve , Mercedes Benz Macclesfield UK told me i have a very very nice SL ( sports light ) Spares can be difficult to come by so it is a challenge, Recently i had to source a new Rad, Mercedes Ellsemere port couldnt help me i found one in California !!!!!!!! my options were recore the rad or carry on looking, i found a new rad in Berlin . It is an enjoyable car to drive especially at night with the roof off in the summer. Sometimes when i drive the car along motorways other drivers pull up by the side and give me the thumbs up sign, Strange i do the same when i see the Morris minor 1000 car i owned one as a 17 year old . I am now 71 and have to say who wants to go electric when you have one of these in your garage ! thank you for the video Cheshire UK.
I owned a light blue metallic R129 from 2012 to 2018. Bought the car in Australia after it lived in GB, Hong Kong, then shipped to Au by the original owner. Car had 31,000 miles (not km as car was British spec) and the "Catalytic 'delete'" option. Interior was Royal Blue. When the self-tensioner on the passenger belt broke (by law you cannot repair 'safety equipment and a new belt must be installed) I contacted EVERY Mercedes source including al of their worldwide network of parts warehouses. I found the VERY LAST new belt in the world. These were built with a pyrotechnic device wired into the front collision sensor and if you hit something or got hit, the pyrotechnic device would be triggered to create gas pressure to instantaneously tighten the belt. Only problem: Belt cost $!,1000 in USA and to ship to Au was $800 as Fedex or any other carrier said the pyrotechnic tensioner was HAZMAT as it was explosive. When the 'autoleveller' device failed a new one was $1700. I found one on another chassis model MB built. the parts guy said "It ain't gonna fit"...I said "if it don't fit, I own it & I'll eat it" it fit... cost $80 + $50 fast airfreight to Au. Although the car was only about 25 yr old and impeccably kept up, all the interior plastic parts from windscreen trim to air vents were beginning to disintegrate and even a sun visor new is $500. so prepare yourself to have deep pockets. One thing makes it worth it- the roar of a 5 liter V8 quad cam motor with twin ignition distributors. The soft top hydraulics with 11 pistons and a trunk pump will run you approx. $6000 to properly repair. The front grille strips are pure titanium and were 'cutoffs" from MB Aviation parts I believe.
I agree. The R107 all the way. Ideally V8 post 1985 galvanised body. Beautiful car and still fairly priced for such a great classic car, but appreciating in value. Great video. Thanks.
IN 1985 I WAS A STATE TROOPER IN DARLINGTON,SOUTH CAROLINA .I INVESTIGATED A ACCIDENT WHERE A 1979 SL450 RAN OFF THE ROAD INTO THE WOODS BOUNCING OFF A NUMBER OF TREES .THE WRECKER PULLED IT OUT AND THE UNINJURED DRIVER CRANKED IT UP AND DROVE IT HOME WITH MINIMAL DAMAGE .IVE WANTED ONE EVER SINCE .IM 62 NOW AND IM BIDDING ON ONE MAY 10 2023 .WISH ME LUCK
I have been waiting for this kind of movie for long time. Fantastic comparison with not only technical spec but also feelings of driving. I fully agree that r129 was the last real Benz. Superb car. I'm about to find one. Greetings from Poland
I own a 1990 R129 500 SL since 2010. (smoke-silver 702/brasil) After seeing this video, I want to bring it back in the 1990 perfect shape. I always treated the car well. Only used original parts. Best part: spring is about to come :)
@@ivanwhisker6932he's got the money, Ive got the money (23 SL63), and we'll both tell you that you're talking out of your ass. 😂 My 2012 sl63 ran like new for 12 years until it got rear ended. People like you lie because you speak with no knowledge, likely out of jealousy.
As a former driver of a r129 the r230 blows the r129 away. It is Superior in every way. Think of it this way the older model excelled in in luxury and class. But the newer model r230 was a bit more sporty with class. It handles better and and it's much more quick. I like the hardtop especially my Dobie girl loves to go bye bye in it. And in my opinion it's much more attractive.
I just wish you could get the v8 in the R230 without the ABC. I'm still deciding between these 2 but leaning towards the R129 so far as the style is so classy to me (34)
@@IT_Farhan If your ABC concerns derive from the infamous reliability/maintenance difficulties, you might consider a 2007 or 2008. Bugs were corrected by then. I have a 2008. No problems at all.
@@mikepetrik907 Thats awesome to hear, what kind of mileage do you have on yours? I bought a used w213 450 as a do-it-all this week. Current situation only lets me have one car unfortunately.
@@IT_Farhan Only 35K, but I think if you do a bit of Googling you'll find confirmation. The R230 ABC issues were frequent and embarrassing for Mercedes, which received ample complaints and unhappy publicity. According to my MB tech advisor (I'm fortunate to be able to afford dealer maintenance) they made important and serious corrections for the later models as a result. So, I searched for a later model when I bought mine five years ago. I ended up with an AMG only because the previous owner had kept it in such perfect condition I could not resist. I do love the car.
Great Video Thomas, thank you! A lovely trip down memory lane. I have loved your videos since stumbling on your review of the W116 350SE. I own a W116 280SE and an R170 SLK320. Would love to see you do a video of the R170 SLK320! Your command of English is wonderful and your knowledge is first rate. Great job. Keep them coming!!
Here in America we favor the R129 and R230 for the design, quality and power. Countless volumes have been written about the swagger of leather wrapped power roll bars. I personally favor the V12 experience up on the high speed interstates where they can display true road weaponry at speed over very long distances. The ability to make a 700 mile trip feel like 200 is prized in continent crossing SL's. The R230 is a particularly good roadster with it's exclusive combination of 8 locking compartments, exclusive rack and pinion steering, glass hardtop roof, superior aerodynamics, start button console shifter and steerable Bi-Xenon headlights. It also is the last SL with a full air pump and spare tire kit. Peak SL in my opinion.
For me the most beautiful SL of the last four decades is the R129 with its fabric roof (as well as an additional hardtop). Especially the ones without too many facelifts from the earlier 90‘s …true(er) to the famous designers (Bruno Sacco) styling intention of the car. In my opinion this car doesn’t require one of those big engines (V12 or even V8) because they don’t make it a sportier car anyway . It always has been a beautiful luxurious cruiser type of car…therefore the three liter V6 is really enough (it’s as quiet as the V12 and makes the car less top heavy …especially in corners, apart from having much less fuel consumption).
@@TrueLeft-n6j I favor the best looking and best driving car of the three you mentioned. Value can change and regarding inherent value the R129 is the best of the three anyway. But if you’re only looking at what’s written on some price tags, man …you didn’t get the whole car thing! Take care
Thomas, thanks for your thoughtful comparison video. I would love a gen 1 car but alas, it is too expensive. I have been seeking a 1967 250SL but alas-still too expensive. I recently purchased an R129 and am looking forward to remedying its problems and driving it. The R129 is the sweet spot-styling, performance, convenience, safety, reliability and price.
Since 2 Werk i have now the SL r 230, 500 , 2002..special Color dark green,changing.Color..it is a powerfull very nice Car and Amazing modern Design ..one of the beautiful SL's..🌞😎
Had a r107 as a daily for years and then went to a r129. The r129 is more suitable for everyday driving in my opinion. R107 is classic and r129 is modern classic. I love both.
I had a 1956 190SL back in the mid-1960s that was a great car, albeit prone to rust. As a student, maintenance expenses became a problem so I traded it even for a year-old VW beetle, that served me well until I moved to NYC and no longer needed a car. By 1985 I was living in Kansas City and decided to find a cabriolet sports car in Europe and bring it home. When Chrysler failed to actually produce their promised Italian bodied car in it's original form, I was 'back on the proverbial "drawing board." This brought me back to the Mercedes marque and my mother'c coupe with the M-110 inline 6 engine convinced me to start there. Expecting to end up with a 2 door W-124 coupe, I headed off to Germany where I discovered that most local buyers were opting for a 5-speed stick with the M-110 engine in a WB-107 body. Until I got there, I did not even know this car existed as it was never officially 'available' in the USA. To make a long story shorter, I ended up buying a new 1985 280SL that I still drive regularly along with a more recently acquired 1948 MGTC. I've had a lot of cars over the years and driven even more, but I can definitively say that this Mercedes is the best car I've ever seen or driven anywhere whe you balance acquisition and maintenance costs against utility and value. I would recommend it to any potential SL buyer, if you can find a good one!!!🙂
I started with the Coupe W114 2.8 CE When I first dated my son's mother. I got the SL R107 When we split up. R129 When the boy was about 9 years. Now we have the R230 SL & he recently borrowed it to take his younger brother to school prom with the roof down. My son shares the love of Mercedes Sl's.
Great video mate, thank you very much. Do love all of them as I'm crazy fan of Mercedes-Benz :))) but, my childhood dream, coming out of the my age, has always been R129.
The first Mercedes, SL 300. I think it is a red one is the most beautiful Mercedes I’ve ever seen in my life and I’m sad that I never get to drive it. I wish Mercedes bring back that kind of styling because that’s what makes the car really truly beautiful on the outside styles everything.
I've gotta 2009 SL550 with AMG package and the car has less than 17.5k miles. Car is great. ABC works too. Tuxedo black with stone interior. This post is on 01-25-2022. Car looks brand new. The powder coated Mercedes Benz front brake calipers look new as well.
My favorite SL is the 1989-2001 Mercedes Benz SL 500, because it's still have that classic Mercedes look a true German perfection and in my opinion still on the classic looking cars side with very modern technology all over modern engine, modern suspension, modern safety features, and just a fantastic truly classic modernized Mercedes Benz look, but somehow the W129 SL is the one which still give me a very interesting feeling ever since I checked the first one out what I seen in Germany back in 1990s this SL was blowing every German mined away in the 1990s. When you looked at the W129 SL in the 1990s it felt like you are like 30-40 years ahead in the future with a very interesting modernized classic Mercedes Benz look. The W129 SL in my opinion the best classic Mercedes Benz SL ever built. Absolutely a fantastic car, amazing a great car. The Best!
I've had all of them except for a 300sl, Truth is they're all great cars If you can afford it go ford a w113 You won't be disappointed But 107's are reliable relatively low maintenance cars. 129's are solid cars but keeping everything working is another story. Same goes for the 230, The purchase price may seem appealing but keeping it going is another story If you're trying to stay on a budget. GREAT VIDEO
For freedom, style and affordability, I pick the r107. The 198 and 113 are unaffordable. The R129 is also a nice car, which I would put 2nd to the R107. Then the pagoda 113. Then the R231. Then the 300sl 198. After that, the R230.
I did own an R107 (450SL) fpr several years in California (some PCH driving involved). It was a nice car and did what it was supposed to do. However... I wouldn't trade it for my current R230 (SL55 AMG) despite parts and maintenence being considerably cheaper.
own a 97 sl500 with 85k km and never had a problem.m119 engine is the best mercedes engine ever; perfect power train for the r129.... the last real Mercedes-Benz with long time quality....
Having owned a 107 and now having owned a 129 for the last 9 years I still think the 129 is the best compromise. Not quite as beautifully styled as the earlier models and not quite as luxurious and modern as the later models but just enough nostalgia combined with modern to be a good compromise and still a decent buy though they take some $ to maintain appropriately.
Always loved the looks of the late model R107, the North American version with the big bumpers (almost everyone likes the Euro ones better, but I actually like the big bumpers with all the chrome and rubber).
Same here. I prefer the 84-89 big, U.S. bumpers to the small Euro bumpers. Been totally obsessed with the r107 since seeing one as a child in the 70's.
The oldest two are the prettiest and have the most organic driving experience. WIth no electronics and solid engineering, they're also going to last forever. Of course the newer ones are safer and faster and have more modern comfort features, but I'd still choose one of the oldest two, if I could afford it. Which I can't.
We have an R231 and an R107. While the R107 is 33 years old, it was a better built car than our 2019 SL. Mercedes like so many other brands makes way too many models and they all suffer qualtiy control problems.

Too ricey for me, too much of a pimped Acura feel to it
Disagree!
@@aMillionHotels na newer mercs have massive build quality issues plus its all plastic now no metal and proper wood engines won't last like older r129 engines
Perfection doesn't bore me...so I got an SL600...great price...I love it
how much? do you daily drive it?
From practical to enjoyment and maintenance, R107 still has the edge.
After R107, most of other MB roadsters are suffer electrical problems and highly maintenance cost.
The R107 drives like a boat. The R129 pre facelift are bullet proof.
most of the R107 are suffer rust, R129 drive much better. I had both together a while. And the electrical softtop is a great advantage
100% spot on. R107 was one of the last what merc made their name for. Future generations were fancy but came with load of issues and very expensive maintenance cost
Yep 107s look great but rust is a massive issue
Have many new mercedes. Where are these problems I've been hearing about for years? Why do you people talk without 0 knowledge or experience? Is it what you tell yourselves to come to terms having to miss out on the new cars?
Thanks for taking us along. What a wonderful comparison of the SL class. Appreciate your comments on the R107 and W123.
I owned a 107, drove it for years from coast to coast, nice car dependable, not complicated for maintenance, a pure Mercedes Benz before they became layered in technology and complicated
i have an R 230,SL 500,it is my favourite of all the SL’s made. I just love this car, style and fashion. It is totally awesome. 10 out of 10. 😊
Agreed! It's the most beautiful modern SL. The r230 SL55 amg is actually my dreamcar. And the interior is the best design ever in a car. What a machine!

Very nice review of the SL! Well done👌
This is a great review - my favorite is the R107. Planning to buy one as my daily driver in the spring

Unless you live in a hot country I wouldent as it will rust away
Thomas is a star, I love his reviews. This was very informative.
Maybe bcz of my generation, R107 and R129 are my best pick.... Inspired from watching Bobby Ewing driving his RED R107 in Dallas
I am fortunate to drive an R129 SL600, a joy ride on the coast in Southern California.
Thomas is hands down !!!!! , The best car reviewer.
I miss the W121 190SL. Based on the technology of the W120 Ponton. For me one of the prettiest SL's. I love my 1958 Classic white one with it's sexy back. Until today many spareparts are available at Mercedes Benz.
Its absolutly great.
I have the exact r129 in the video. Mine though is a six cylinder but the midnight blue. Absolutely gorgeous in all aspects. Thank you for this video.
Fantastic autos. I feel as though the in-line 6 stays true to the heritage.
Enjoy and take care.
R129 all the way!! Had a 107 and putting the top up and down and the old interior wasn’t for me.
You must be very lazy, as the top is not that hard to raise and lower on the 560SL . I can have the top completely down in my 560SL in 90 seconds ! Plus, when the top is down, you still have very decent trunk space to put your luggage for vacations. I don't think that you thought this one out !

R129 ❤️
R129 i love it
On my third one. 1998 sl500 midnight blue.
Great work. R107 all day long for me. Although R129 is very good contender for the garage too
I have a 2002 r129. I have driven a the 1983 107. I feel my r129 is a beautiful, very powerful SL 500 and many modern features.
R129 for the win!
2000 SL600 owner checking in.
Wonderful video!
I’m quite excited as I shall be purchasing a 1990 300sl this weekend.
Thank you for the great review!
Best of luck!
I have owned a 1986 560 SL for two years - looks wise - I don’t think anything better. Except previous models in elegance. But for sure, R107 is a great mix of sixties design with semi-modern conveniences.
Another lovely Mercedes video - your voice is very relaxing !
Thank you for sharing your perceptions--especially about diluting the Mercedes character.
R129 !!! Love that car
Just got a 2002 (U.S.A.)
Can’t wait to get in it every spring
Mine is the R107 560 in Aqua color with both tops , the most beautiful convertible for daily drive and do it yourself maintenance and repair .
Great video, my favourite SL 600 V12 , beautiful cars.
Omg ❤❤ the R 129 is really awesome ... amazingly made ❤❤❤

I own a 1990 R129 500 SL since 2010. (smoke-silver 702/brasil) After seeing this video, I want to bring it back in the 1990 perfect shape. I always treated the car well. Only used original parts. Best part: spring is about to come :)
That is awesome!
Shouldve showed the R230 Folding hardtop, that was revolutionary in 2003. Its why I always loved that car
Na it wasent the 1st slk had a hard top they came out 1996 ish

Then I've had a 21 GLE450 as well before I traded it for a 24 GLS...WHERE ARE THESE ISSUES? They're not there. People like you lie because you speak with no knowledge, likely out of jealousy.
Fantastic video. Idk maybe I’m crazy but I really like the r107 after after the original. The chunky American bumpers I actually like
Love your channel!! The seat belt/ speed analogy was unreal!
I'm still deciding between these 2 but leaning towards the R129 so far as the style is so classy to me (34)
@@IT_Farhan plus the quality is a little bit better it's up to you.
I have an R172, AMG SLC43. Not an SL but part of the fam. I like it.
@@TrueLeft-n6j Swagger > value. The market always lags years behind the cognoscenti.
@@TrueLeft-n6j I favor the best looking and best driving car of the three you mentioned. Value can change and regarding inherent value the R129 is the best of the three anyway. But if you’re only looking at what’s written on some price tags, man …you didn’t get the whole car thing! Take care

Very informative and well put together. I love my R107, and so do other motorists! :-)

R129 love at first sight ❤️
They all icons , I’m still having my 2003 SL55 and she still makes me smile 😊
You're lucky!
The R129 is a timless elegannt built like a tank road machine-is the perfection on wheels-nothing before and nothing after will compare with the R129.
that W113 has a gorgeous colour interior !
The Best!
not W129 but R129
R107 500 SL is my favorite, especially the ones which are built after 1986 with an aluminum block engine.
Amazing video, thank you for remind me my childhood!
The R129 is also a nice car, which I would put 2nd to
the R107. Then the pagoda 113. Then the R231. Then the 300sl 198. After that, the R230.
The Mercedes Benz are the best looking, best performance of any vehicles built. The SL600 R129 is my favorite wide body model.
I did own an R107 (450SL) fpr several years in California (some PCH driving involved). It was a nice car and did what it was supposed to do. However... I wouldn't trade it for my current R230 (SL55 AMG) despite parts and maintenence being considerably cheaper.
How much attention would it get? I just got my R107 but it’s currently being restored, I haven’t even driven it yet!
Great video!! Your English is excellent.
own a 97 sl500 with 85k km and never had a problem.m119 engine is the best mercedes engine ever; perfect power train for the r129.... the last real Mercedes-Benz with long time quality....
I’d love to waft around LA in a euro spec R107 500, classless cool retro appeal especially since I’d never have to put the roof up.
R129 is the last of the solid Mercedes quality
Always loved the looks of the late model R107, the North American version with the big bumpers (almost everyone likes the Euro ones better, but I actually like the big bumpers with all the chrome and rubber).
Same here. I prefer the 84-89 big, U.S. bumpers to the small Euro bumpers. Been totally obsessed with the r107 since seeing one as a child in the 70's.
I like the American headlamps more over the Euro lights. The bigger bumpers have not quite grown on me yet.
R129 for life ... my dream car !
Very nice video!
You are so lucky to have tested all those engineering beauties 👌🏼👍🏼
The oldest two are the prettiest and have the most organic driving experience. WIth no electronics and solid engineering, they're also going to last forever. Of course the newer ones are safer and faster and have more modern comfort features, but I'd still choose one of the oldest two, if I could afford it. Which I can't.
You didn't show the 190 SL. It's my favorite. Beautiful lines.
Excellent video and very informative ✨
good video ! any info for the SL380 ?
We have an R231 and an R107. While the R107 is 33 years old, it was a better built car than our 2019 SL. Mercedes like so many other brands makes way too many models and they all suffer qualtiy control problems.
The '58 300SL Roadster has always been my fav Merc
