Fantastic! To call that guy a pro does not do him justice. I suspect that with the kind of skill he possesses, he might just wear a cape under his T-shirt. Come to think of it Sparky, I have never seen both you and Superman in the same room at the same time! Hmmmm.
LOL! You can see us both here: Sparky vs the Pros Parallel EMT Bending with 4 Point Saddle Bends and 90° Stubs: ruclips.net/video/GfvpEcRiqD8/видео.html
EMT bending is an art. There's not a lot of what we do where craftmanship can be appreciated, but a clean EMT install sure looks nice and shiny.
yeah back in 02' I was trained by a 65yr old. and when I asked "what's so special about running conduit" he said "JR.. any monkey can run romex, running conduit is an artform.
Yep!
Nice!
I agree with your statement sir
Not taking away from him....and all the respect to him.....but I learned one thing in this trade...u never know how good u really are with conduit until u hit the industrial side....once u start working with rigid....everything else is child's play.
Much respect to those who work with rigid!
Can you break it down how he got the measurement from pipe to box on roof? I'm still learning
@Sean I can but it will be hard to understand over a comment....jst Google it and there are plenty of videos that will demonstrate it so u won't be so confused.
@@shaffey01measure bottom of conduit to edge of roof. then measure the rooftop to the very bottom of that connector and add the two. this will give you the exact rise of the kick you need
Great skills! It’s beautiful once you get the hang of hand benders! Pipe bends itself.
I’d like to see some rigid conduit with a Chicago or knuckle bender in the competition. Maybe even a little PVC and heater for drama haha.
I agree. They have bent rigid in a previous year, but not this year. PVC bending would be great!
Great chanell Sparky!
Thanks so much!
Skillful young man.
Thank you for sharing.
I agree, thanks!
This is great stuff👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks!
He is good. Great video Sparky.
Thanks!
He's ok. The way he lays the bender on the ground is unprofessional.
Slick! Thank you
No problem, thanks!
Thank you!
No problem, thanks!
Thank you for sharing even if I don't know what's going on. I learned electricity is an art. They're craftsman and designers. More to it than not getting zapped.
No problem, thanks!
box offsets are the hardest hahaha. I don't know why but I can't, for the life of me, NOT overbend it!!! Every freaking time...
I thought they were bought that way. Put together like Legos. And wire was put through them like thread and needle. Colored by application or voltage. Then twisted together, inserted into something and try not to get electrocuted. Shame on me!
You can do it!
This guy is the Pythagoras of pipe bending.
Yep! lol!
hold on, I want to know what kind of phrases teachers gave to students back in the day as far as bending conduit... cause I remember "dog leg" or "that dog wont hunt" referring to bent conduit/off sets in the wrong direction
Yep, they still use the phrase "dog leg". "That dog wont hunt" is probably used in certain areas too.
Didn't he just come in second on the nationals? I thought he was going to be number one with those skills. Any update as to what were the differentiators between first and second place?
The difference is $35,000 ($60K for 1st place, $25K for 2nd)! Tom Kennedy from WI came in first and Greg came in 2nd. Both made errors and the judges had to decide who did better overall.
I honestly can't remember the last time I used 1/2" EMT, but hey if specs call for it.. then do it.. otherwise run a 3/4 for redundancies.
Agreed, thanks!
Yes, I try to use 3/4 as a minimum.
I’ve been doing electrical 8 years and I still can’t do this. Lol
You can do it!
Has anybody ever told you you sound like Scotty Kilmer…???🤔🤔🤔
To see the bender and the tape measure just thrown on the floor drives me crazy. And yo see electrician Ben over yo the floor to measure hurts my back and gives be a headache. He knows how to bend pipe but his form is rookie. His technique need improvement
He's a multi champ in competition. Sounds like you're the next champion to take his title see you at the next competition
