    Awesome article.
Recently was a victim of burglary where a guy broke into the garage of my apartment in Minnetonka, drove a pickup in with his wife, and looted the place taking my tools and a bunch of other stuff from people in the apartment. Found the guy a few weeks later trying to get in again late at night and scared him off but saw his face. Few days later same guy I saw was selling stuff he stole from me on Facebook marketplace. Posed as an interested buyer, arranged a place to meet, and the guy met up with Minneapolis PD instead. They confiscated his truck and everything he was trying to sell, hopefully the guy gets charged cause he was probably looting many other apartment buildings.
I stand behind all of our law enforcement and decisions they make to protect themselves and enforce law and order. These criminals need to understand the decisions they make have consequences. Honestly we should empower our law enforcement to beat the living daylights out of these people like constables of old, maybe then they might think twice about jacking people's cars and stuff, and perhaps not complying with law enforcement.

I agree, we need to get dems out (I will admit, I'm a former dem myself)
BUT, I'd personally rather people get their CCWs.. That way, law--abiding citizens can carry and protect themselves, but the people who can't be bothered to obey the law can be held accountable if they get stopped/searched and caught with a firearm.
      1. we need more GOOD, CONTRIBUTING citizens armed and trained.
      2. we NEED the justice system to hold them accountable, stop letting people off with little to no consequences
I love firearms.. BUT.. I also like the idea that law enforcement can charge someone with no priors (just because they haven't been caught yet, not because they're law-abiding) just for having a firearm hidden on them..

Well done, Liz. I don't even know where to begin with trying to figure out a solution other than going back to the things that were once in place, such as juvenile centers but better monitored for unsavory behavior. Harsher sentences will act as a deterrent once the word gets out. The caveat is that prisons and such need to do a better job of actual rehabilitation. We need to stop rewarding producing children out of wedlock to people with no income from a job. We need to teach kids marketable skills. We need to help where it's needed and punish when it's in the best interest of society.
All that said, there are homes where a child is just going to be lost because the parent(s) have no interest or skill in raising a productive member of society. What a tragedy it is when that happens.

I was randomly assaulted by a 30 year old meth'd up rich kid in St Paul. He broke the heavy end of a 23 Oz pool cue over my face. Left me with huge bump and a few scars on my face. He was given a ride home by the St Paul police and never served a day of jail time. He also hit my friend in the elbow with another Pool cue the same way. He pled guilty to one count of felony assault which in 3 years will automatically be reduced to a simple entry level 5th degree assault and he can also expunge his record all thanks to shitbag judge Krause. St Paul is a shithole because they don't hold anyone accountable. The legal definition for this case was second degree felony assault because of the use of a weapon which is a wide-ranging and inclusive consideration specifically stating and including pool cues. So if the law followed the law you would charge the criminal with the appropriate offense and stick to it. Every crime is open to being negotiated down to a petty charge no matter the severity. That's what happens in most criminal cases in St Paul and minneapolis. When I was growing up you'd get your head beat in and things would be a lot different. Now the criminal cops and judges have a special friendly relationship with the criminals and victims are an annoyance to be ignored.

Hi Tony, The TV in Ramsey County at least was on basketball like 80 % of the time. So turn off the TV? Isn't the desire to be a rapper or NBA star. Then we're 50% of the way there!

I'm sorry i don't care about the so-called perceived crime in MPLS. Crimes go without any sort of sentencing every day in this city. Most real crimes against humanity and our city are legal. This is only the start of the downfall. Trust me if people only knew what goes on every day by the beloved athletes, public figures, etc who reign and terrorize the citizens of MPLS. This is small time. I'm much more concerned about what is happening on the U of M campus, with the stars of the city, with the politicians, with the greedy businesspeople, etc. Remember the crimes the forementioned people commit are legal, it's only when small time crooks commit crime that it is unacceptable. I pray no one goes through what i have had too and continue too every day. You can't fix what has been done in this lifetime. That ladies PTSD was not from a carjacking she just perceives it as such, i'm certain the trama was much deeper than a car jacking, but what do i know.
