@@Jake-uv4sl not really when he claims he doesn’t want another killzone resistant or socom but would rather take a game like Concord that is basically destined to fail. Stop being so delusional.
Because Killzone like resistance never saw any major success even at its peak and socom is so old no one who didnt grow up with PS2 is going to rember it
My big question is: Over the course of 8 years, did Sony/Firewalk never perform any audience testing or sentiment analysis?? Because I fully believe if Concord's disjointed character design and lame dialogue was put in front of a third-party audience, they would IMMEDIATELY flag how terrible it is. It's like the game was conceived in a bubble back in 2016, but the developers never left to check the outside world until 2024.
Probably about right and they still refuse to acknowledge that the zone outside that bubble is the overwhelming majority of consumers. They probably did do some internal testing and checked with some carefully curated focus groups but failed to actually check to see what the people who would actually be buying would like. As it is, at least one dev is refusing to acknowledge how bad the game is and how this almost certainly will end up killing their studio.
It's honestly surprising how low their standards have gotten. I'm convinced these are some kind of tax write off scam or something close to that. There's just no way people are paying millions to get these dumpster fires made and released for the purpose of "hey people might like this". If they are actually trying to make a decent game, it's actually mind numbing
This is the reason why I say PlayStation should announce their projects at least 3 years in advance and ask their fans if that's something they'd be interested in. Instead, all we get lately is secrecy and silence.
@@SlyRyFry From my understanding it boils down to two major things, a terrible study from 2015 and ESG investments. The latter is pretty obvious, certain investor groups insist that these studios and publishers meet certain ESG standards in order to get their money, if they don't then the cash stops flowing. The second is a study, called Diversity Matters, recommend watching Upper Echelon's video on it, that supposedly drew a link between company growth/profitability and the "diversity" of their workplace. Seeing that, a lot of companies focused on hiring "diverse" employees regardless of how qualified the applicant was since they believed the study. The problem was that the study deliberately mixed up correlation and causation in order to back their DEI ideas despite the data suggesting that companies became more "diverse" after their value had increased to a certain point, basically the "diversity" of the staff had little to do with the value of the company. TLDR: ESG investors insisting on people they invest in meeting certain ESG standards and a deliberately misleading study from 2015 trying to push DEI shit lead to studios and companies pulling this crap.
150 million roughly gets wasted on this shitty ip Now imagine if Sony split that into 10 million into 15 indie studios... the amount of amazing games that would come out would easily triple sony's profits
Yeah, imagine if Sony still produced a wide variety of games like they did before their entire business model was consolidated around a handful of ultra expensive studios who produce TLOU style games.
Unfortunately, while I would also prefer those indie titles, doing so would absolutely not triple Sonys profits. Most indies do not make massive profit. Let alone the idea that you'd go 15/15 successful with all those titles. They'd be lucky to make 200 million back on that 150 million spent. That said, it would have almost certainly been more than they'll make on Concord.... but they were hoping they'd have a game that could draw huge crowds and draw in massive profits like Overwatch or Fornite etc...
The fact SONY refuses to revive a SOCOM spiritual successor has always been disappointing. Even if it's a licensing situation with "SOCOM" or the Navy, call it something else. Rebrand it. These hero shooters are ass and unless it's doing something ground-breaking, it's going to bomb like Concord. Simple as that. No one asked for this trash game.
No, this game was not a ‘financial risk’ on an innovative concept, it was idiocy chasing after a trend six years too late. It was chosen for development because it was supposed to not be risky by hitching onto a ‘guaranteed’ money maker.
People are tired of the live service model, they're tired of generic soulless junk, tired of boring or ugly characters. Just make fun, beautiful games with soul and passion it will be wildly successful.
generic soulless junk you say but if they just made a bunch of waifu characters like the first descendent people wouldn't hesitate to hand over their money. people have no problem with mediocrity if it satisfies their porn addictions.
no.1 problem was the price, and sure the ugly characters, and remember this game is made for the modern audiences but it turns out those modern audience didnt come out to play this game. the only time we see those people is when they look for a game and check if theres no represention of uglies, fat, gays, etc etc. so they can log in into their social media accnts and start talking. its the only thing they want to do blah blah and cry , then once theres a game that they want they dont play it. seriously what is wrong with these people? if they really want to support and go crazy about this representation thing in games then go play the game commit into it support it dont just go to social media and start barking. now sony tells steam to remove the LGBTQ tag for this game. now let see if these crazies go for sony this time
Tbf, I believe that was more or less the launch price for overwatch and R6:siege too. When this game was planned and budgeted, the idea of a $40 online only game was pretty much the norm. It's only really with these games beginning to make more and more post sales revenue from micro transactions and battle passes that they have moved away from it. Honestly I think it is kinda sad, because the attention to detail and technical aspects of the game seem very high for the space (and probably why they felt they needed a higher launch price to recoup the development costs), but the market is just too crowded at this point to build a player base without going free to play.
@@supersnail5000overwatch characters don't look like absolute garbage and neither does the style of either that or seige. Concord looks horrible by every metric

Sure it came in the time when ps5 was hard to get but financial guys do not care. I do agree that a comeback in a modern style might be a good idea (look at doom 2016). But in the era or remakes and remasters people also might have some fatigue. I personally would like to see a reboot of killzone or other games Sony has in its portfolio. But this does not matter at the moment only Sony knows (well we know what was announced and what leaked from Insomniac) where the focus is. CFO being a co-CEO is imo not a great thing, as this guy thinks money first and Sony needs to improve the gaming division margins.
Sony has historically done a good job of making new franchises people didn’t know they wanted (Horizon, Last of Us, etc.), I think it’s inevitable you’ll have a failure eventually. Last thing they should do is stop trying new IPs
@@Otacon1105 sure they should keep trying. But maybe just maybe have customer in mind. And I mean gamers not investors. This gen there was a few new IPs and none of them were successful as far as I know and only one was a first party game. Something should change.
@@mravg79 there have been few new IPs because the current big first party IP were created mid gen transition. Problem is Concord is not a risky game that the gamer should support. It’s a cash grab attempt on trying to capture the Overwatch audience. It does nothing new and does not have its own vision.
Yeah, exactly. People aren't stupid. They can tell this game is generic, millennial writing, MCU-clone trash. All of Sony's successes were successful because they were original and creative and had something to hook potential players. God of War was a grimdark version of classical mythology. Ghost of Tsushima let people live out their samurai dreams. Horizon has the tribal culture vs animalistic robots premise. Those are just recent examples. There are many more going further back.

What hurts is that TLOU Online could've been Sony's answer to their live service strategy. They also underestimate Helldivers 2, barely promote it and yet it's their most successful gaas to date.
It blows my mind that Sony bought Firewalk due to this title. All while there are tons of titles like this. And SOCOM sitting on the sideline, with very few 3rd person tactical shooters on console. Baffling really
We now know that the Bungie acquisition was largely a mistake, and it's starting to become evident that Firewalk's acquisition was also one... How many mistakes can Playstation afford to make before its business starts to suffer? And how many years will it take to undo the damage caused by these misguided acquisitions?
The game industry just is not putting out games that interest me anymore. I just want my single player games. Not every game needs to be an ongoing live service game, or a 150 hour open world experience.

Right? It's unreal to think about. The only Sony game that's generated real hype this year is Astro Bot. A franchise that started out as a niche PSVR title that barely anyone played, then gained popularity as a free tech demo, and is now a full game with legitimate hype behind it. That limited edition Dualsense sold out almost instantly, it was nuts. But at the same time, it's sad to think that this is what Playstation is now, that games that genuinely create enthusiasm are such a rarity.
Excuse me but Firewalk didn't made an experiment with Concord. They just copy/paste every other live service game. If Sony wanted to made experiments they should keep Japan Studios, Evolution or Psygnosys
At some point this delusion in the industry of live service games being magical money printing machines and overall less risky projects than new singleplayer IP has to stop, right guys? ... right? ... please
they're both risky, but live service games can generate a ton of money over years while the most profitable window for single player is usually near launch, with small peaks when it goes on sale.
Trouble is, executives are whales, too. The same psychological trap that gets people hooked on gacha games as players has now hooked the production companies. The only bright side is that, unlike consumer credit, the financial backers for these projects aren't going to keep greenlighting mega-million dollar budgets with a negative ROI. It'll be the lenders, not the producers, that cap this ultimately.
It's good that this game failed. It's not a bad game, but it's so unoriginal and this genre is not as trendy anymore, and the competition is free on top of that.. This should let Sony know they should not chase old trends and stick to their usual games, the games where Sony is usually the one who innovates and the industry then follows.
Not All things work out. Sony has prepared well in taking these risks. They know that they still have the venom game, spiderman 3, Wolverine, Astro bot, Lego Horizon and many more unannounced single-player stuff on the way. There's also more live service on the way which are not impacting their single-player portfolio. At least Sony has both ends of the spectrum to consider, unexpected success from Low expectations with Helldivers2 and devastating failure with a high expected success with Concord. Now the next live service stuff can fall anywhere in that spectrum, they're obviously hoping for more Helldivers2 stories, even if there's more concord stories, we still have all the Single-player stuff on the way.
@@thealph1191 that’s the thing actually. There is a lot of first party singleplayer greatness coming. The failed move of live service isn’t something terminal that will make me hate Sony at all. But there are victims here. Naughty Dog is a shell right now after they cancelled the TLOU ONLINE. And it’s sad that from 20ish live service projects, only 1 succeeded. And as someone who loves gaming… HELLDIVERS WAS A SURPRISE! The hype from trailers was lukewarm at best! It had a Fortnite effect of friends telling friends to buy the game!
It's not just $40 bucks for the boxed multiplayer game. It's also $80 dollars every year for PlayStation Plus otherwise you just won't have a game. And in Concord's case, it's not doing anything better than actual F2P hero shooters which don't require the PlayStation Plus subscription. Sure all the content would be free within the game but to Playstation consumers you're forced to pay for essentially 8 battle passes worth every year just to have a game. Also the content being free wouldn't be self sustainable. Team 4/Blizzard already mentioned this when they had the most generous loot boxes for Overwatch and everything in game could be earned for free. There was no revenue coming in to continue to develop content for free forever
Afraid of being cancelled if he upsets the they/thems. This is like the best proof that real life politics have no place in video games. They think everyone is in support of it but deep down the majority don't, they're just too afraid to say it cause it's delusional.
@@holtzbolt5445 This game would’ve flopped even if it had different characters and no pronouns. Conversely Overwatch was a huge success and has a bunch of minority characters too. There was just no desire for another PvP hero shooter in this gaming landscape and definitely not one that is pay2play when all others are free. In the real world most people don’t mind progressive stuff in games as long as the game is good. There are plenty of games that were successful despite pretty obvious progressive politics. That’s why Mystic doesn’t talk about it in the video because it’s not the reason this game flopped despite what rage baiters on social media would like you to believe. People were shitting on this game before the characters and pronouns were revealed.
Sony lost big money on this game, and they lost money on Fractions 2. Sony is gonna be hurting in the eyes of investors this year. Multi-player games are essential to the portfolio, but it has to be Multi-player people play. This is why it was better in the PS3 days when the Multi-player was already included in a game pack like TLOU.
I wish Jim Ryan was still around to answer for this. Actually, scrap that. Thank God he's not around anymore. I just hope Herman doesn't double down on these live services nonsense.
I disagree. Sony brought back Helldivers, which is an established IP from the PS3, and it was successful. So why not try and bring back more like Killzone, Socom, or even Twisted Metal? A lot of new multiplayer IPs that have been released for the PS5 haven't been successful so far. (Destruction All Stars, Foam Stars, and now Concord)
I'm with you in that we need more new IP, but we also need someone to say "stop, who the hell is this game even for" at the end of the day, games are a business as well as an artform.

idk if this quote is true, but i wouldn't be surprised. dude was co-founder of a studio that created some of the most boring and generic fps games i've ever played.
Hard disagree. Making a modern day Resistance battle pass shooter game would sell a ton. Using an old IP makes it so you don't have to worry about "modern audiences" who don't actually buy videogames
They have plans for single player games. The issue is (and do not take my word for it search Shawn Layden interview from a few years back) the model for blockbusters is not really sustainable. Ask yourself, do you as a customer playing spider man 2 got impression that this game roughly 3 times budget of part 1 was justified? Sure Spidy2 made a ton of money, but not twice as much as it the cost was. So if you have game that cost was 300M you get 150M profit, but the Spidy3 has budget do 380M (according to Insomniac docs) you are still missing a huge part of the money. They need to come from somewhere (other games, subscription services, merchandise sales, hardware sales). Otherwise it might be hard to keep it up. Sure this year Helldivers 2 was a great success and probably put a lot of money into Sony account which can be used for the single player blockbuster.
They're not chasing that? Them expanding their games pallet doesn't mean they are taking away the single player experience. Yes Concord was a fail but you guys are pulling other things out of thin air just to pile on top of what everyone else is already saying.

live service failing makes me happy. Go back to making good solo games, and while were at it stop pushing graphics so hard, the PS5 would be a fantastic 1080p native 90-120fps machine in pretty much every game if they actually bothered to optimize and target realistic render resolutions.
I'd much prefer 1440p - 60fps. (as a standard or a setting) 1080p is grainy on a big tv and the only time I use that resolution (on pc) is if going higher causes stutters. 4K to me is worthless beings it almost always barely looks any sharper than 1440p but does seem to always come with sever/moderate performance issues. Regardless of resolution though, my personal issue is releasing games at 30fps. That shouldn't even be allowed in 2024 imo.
Primary resolution/performance targets are driven by the average consumers screen, the vast majority of which are 4K 60hz panels. Making the PS5 a 1080p 90-120hz machine just doesn't make sense for the screen market it released into.
Nobody has said to turn killzone or resistance into live service games... but doing something similar, rebooting the franchises or releasing a 4k collection, not everything need to be a live service games... and even new ips with good single player and multiplayer, I think guerilla games and insomniac can do a really good FPS games.
I feel really bad for anyone on the team who worked on the game without wanting any of this nonsense, but this had to happen to discourage future nonsense like this
The fact that Sony did not delay the game, or at the very least make it free to play, shows they have no idea what they are doing. The game needs some huge change like FF14 or No Man's Sky if they want it to succeed.
I'll be completely honest... I think the game has quality, I've played it and I liked what I played. There are some aspects that could be improved, but overall... I think the quality of the game is solid. However, it doesn't have something differentiating about it like Helldivers did. This game was released in a market that is saturated and in a market where players are used to free games*. Concord comes with all the content, everything can be unlocked...no battlepasses, no micro transactions. It's curious that, for years, there have been so many complaints from players about battlepasses, microtransactions and a game that comes with a different model ends up being rejected and ignored. Is there some hypocrisy here? Let's see what happens now ? game on Plus in a while ? free game next year ? Concord has a very difficult mission ahead of it. However, I think the players are being too cruel with the game. In conclusion, Sony/Firewalk should have better studied the market, the audience for which this game was intended and its competition... maybe things could have been better Well... whatever happens, I hope Firewalk/devs do well
This was one of your lower quality videos. Trying to defend it "yes, but..." too hard. You say we want Sony to take big risks, which sometimes can fail, but the entire reason Sony latched on to this game is to chase the hero shooter and live-service trends. You say we are happy for a new IP when this game is a generic hero shooter "Guardians of the Galaxy from wish", and that is also the reason why Sony thought it would succeed.
No, I think it’s fairly getting what it deserves. There’s no excuse for this game and to dance around the issues at hand, kinda makes you look as an apologist. This is coming as a PlayStation user since the early days.
I agree that there is a live service fatigue, but then you have break out success like Helldivers 2. It's not the price point because people gobbled that game up. On top of the lack of interest in a hero shooter, people also don't like forced agendas in their video games. They're pandering to an audience that won't even play their game.
Blows my mind that dumpster fire games such as this somehow get the funding to run till completion. Yet games like The Last of Us multiplayer get cancelled.
Bit of a shame to see the industry become a battleground for ideological warfare. I'm not big on the character designs (they weren't all bad), but I see very few people actually discussing the gameplay.
Yup. It breaks my heart. I just remember when games used to be about fun, now you got people on the outside of it who uses gaming to forward their own agenda and grandstanding on either side of the fence.
Coming from a 24 year old who played FPS since the mid 2000s, all I'll say is this. -gunplay feels like destiny 2 with an overwatch paint job, gunfights even in the open beta felt wildly inconsistent at best and rock, paper, scissors at worse. I prefer the Goldilocks zone when it comes to TTK, not too long, not too short but make it juuust right for it to be fulfilling. -map design philosophy went out of the window as well, they had eight years to make this game but didn't know the basics of creating a multiplayer map? Even overwatch and COD (for better or worse) got better map design and philosophy than Concord, especially with the latter since they have to make their maps for both ranked and public multiplayer games in mind when developing their entries. -character designs? They feel like they're stuck in 2016 at best, as Marvel Rivals, Paladins, Valorant, overwatch, and other games managed to nail this down to an absolute tee with their marketing. At worst, they feel like colorful vomit, with none of the designers sticking to a single philosophy when having a character design, and this comes from someone who writes original characters regularly, you need to have all your characters stand out from one another and not feel like background noise.
Concord (and other similar cases) should be reminders for game devs/publishers to stop pandering to the non-existant "modern audience". Please, just focus on making the game good and you'll get people's money, the people who actually play video games.
That's actually great, maybe Sony will finaly reconsider it's politics and understand that people buying their console to play fun games and not to get educated by californain barristas in another AAA game with 200 mil budget that takes 5+ years to be made.
2:05 I am sympathetic to the developers because they probably did put a lot of effort into it, but 1) no one asked for yet another generic and uninspired live service hero shooter, especially with a $40 entry fee and 2) calling your customer base “talentless freaks” isn’t gonna win anyone over.
Yup. I do feel for them, they're probably having some of the worst days ever in their lives. But that's no excuse to lash out at players who are committing the awful sin of... not playing a videogame.
This is a pile of crap placed in front of the player, and you want the player to eat it?? Ugly character design. Why should I play this when I can play the cooler and free Overwatch?
Who would have thought there was a limit to how many games the market would tolerate where you hold a shooty thing in your hand and point it at something.
Something I think people aren't talking about enough is the PS Plus requirement to actually play this. People have been fed up with being expected to pay $80/year in top of the price of the game and when you're game is multiplayer only, it's really a much more expensive game than $40. I know there's a plethora of reasons why this game is bombing but I think that's a part of it.
Especially when fortnite is free and doesn't require ps plus. I am more likely to spend a little bit of cash on a free to play, no ps+ games market place or battle pass than I am to spend on ps+, then buy the game, then get a battle pass, then buy from the in game store, then buy in game currency etc, etc. I would rather just play something else at that point. Hell, I would rather play anything else... hell, I would rather not play at all at that point.
You really want New IPs after this debacle displaying their modern creative bankrupcy when there's a treasure trove of franchises being untouched? Sly Cooper, Spyro, Jak, Twisted Metal, Demon Souls, Bloodborne are just SOME that I'd rather see sequels/prequel/spinoffs of. How far would a 150 million dollar budget get you with those beloved and neglected games?
I agree with the new IP argument. It would be nice to have a new Killzone or Resistance, but I'd rather Guerilla give us Horizon 3 and Insomniac continue on their current path. I think Concord has 2 big problems: 1. It has no single player campaign. If it had SP, I don't think people would be anywhere near as dismissive. 2. It's a MP only game that is 5 v 5 only and has been in development for a long time (5-8 years). It's a competently made game sure, but one that doesn't appeal to the masses (myself included). I hope Firesprite gets a chance to do something better and doesn't get shuttered especially with new management at PS Studios (this game is likely a leftover from the Jim Ryan era).
The fact you have to pay for multiplayer on consoles in tbe first place on top of paying for a 'temporary' multiplayer game where the servers could be turned off at any time... for me, that's just pointlessly throwing hard earned money away.
Corcord would have done alot better if they used playstation characters. Like All-stars did. Imagine ratchet & clank with uncharted characters, even kratos could be a tank with throwing axes and melee mechanics. Missed opportunities 😢
$40 is a cash grab😂😂 When everything in the game can be unlocked for free including new characters. Making the game free wouldn't change a thing either and the open Beta proves it. People just simply don't like the character designs which is kind of a dumb reason to not like an FPS if you ask me, when 95% of the time you wont see your character. Its probably the same people that are running around with niki minaj or 21 savage outfits in COD. They gave fantastic MP games on the PS3 but no one supported them now they want those games back. During the ps4 gen people were crying for MP games from sony, here we are in with ps5 and they are still hearing the same complaints from the ps3 gen PlayStation is probably like these people dont make any sense.
Existing IP doesn't have to be developed by the original developers (singleplayer focused studios). Outside studios can work on existing IP's too. A Resistance live service game doesn't have to be developed by Insomniac Games. That way we don't have singleplayer focused studios turn into a live service studio. But yes, that doesn't mean It's a good idea to do so.
As a Xbox player, I love coming to this guy to get unbiased, logical PS NEWS. But this video?? Smh. Hes like the strategy of Concord which has proven to be a failure. But doesn't agree with what the audience says is the problem. You know, the people who BUY the games lol "Your asking for something you clearly don't want" The customer is TELLING Sony what they want. They aren't listening. It reminds me of blizzard and classic WOW. LMAO
I'm just tired of live service games not having a strong premise. Concord doesn't do anything to warrant it's existence. When Overwatch came out, it evolved the formula of Team Fortress 2. Concord is copying the sequel of something that was revolutionary almost 10 years ago. I understand that's not your point, but I'm not really sure they were experimenting when they made Concord so even if it's a "new" IP, it feels like we've already played this game (even if it takes place in a new world with new characters).
They can swallow their pride and make the characters look cool and sexy and take out all the pronoun bullshit and all the anti competitive components in the game. But they won't. Playstation made a huge mistake moving their headquarters to California.
has very little to do with whether the characters are fuckable or not. the game just isn't innovative enough. too many others like it that do it better

Echo chamber yes-men+ DEI

Yeah, exactly. People aren't stupid. They can tell this game is generic, millennial writing, MCU-clone trash.
All of Sony's successes were successful because they were original and creative and had something to hook potential players. God of War was a grimdark version of classical mythology. And it’s sad that from 20ish live service projects, only 1 succeeded.
And as someone who loves gaming… HELLDIVERS WAS A SURPRISE! The hype from trailers was lukewarm at best!
It had a Fortnite effect of friends telling friends to buy the game!
Twisted Metal rebirth died for this
A live service TM game would have flopped almost just as bad, probably in a similar way to Destruction All Stars
You spoke to much without saying why this game failed. Short answer: It did not appeal to the audience it was targeted: "MODERN AUDIENCE"
Exactly, it feels like most people talking about Concord avoid mentioning how it's full of pronouns and was targeted for a MODERN AUDIENCE.
Afraid of being cancelled if he upsets the they/thems. This is like the best proof that real life politics have no place in video games. They think everyone is in support of it but deep down the majority don't, they're just too afraid to say it cause it's delusional.
Yes I could not believe how he tiptoes around when it is obvious DEI is THE reason this game failed

Hi.
Your last statement is so true. Not all multiplayer games have to be live service. TLOU online mode was so fun
8 years to make a 5v5 hero shooter is nuts
This is their KARMA! Raising the PS plus prices was so greedy.
Sony thinks they are untouchable.
Nintendo are far worse in the thinking they are untouchable department.
0:02 tbf, you could have said this a week ago with the same degree of confidence with the use of foresight :p
THTS JUST A BLACK BACKGROUND
Not really. There was always a chance for change up until the actual release and we saw the opening numbers. Then it became indisputable.
a chance to change the entire game that no one was interested in? No shot! Other games have done the same thing already. No one asked for this!@@lexxyluthor2316
"Concord might be one of the greatest multiplayer games of the modern era" - Herman Hulst
Did he actually say that? Where?
idk if this quote is true, but i wouldn't be surprised. dude was co-founder of a studio that created some of the most boring and generic fps games i've ever played.
This quote was fake btw
Hermen never said a single word about concord
Hard disagree. Making a modern day Resistance battle pass shooter game would sell a ton. Using an old IP makes it so you don't have to worry about "modern audiences" who don't actually buy videogames
Perhaps if Sony stopped chasing the "Single player games are dead" BS and actually made games people want they'd start buying games again.
@@mravg79they can make cheaper games and shorter and they should cut out the woke craziness and we have good numbers again
@@azizalfa752 this "could" sounds a bit like wishful thinking.
Yeah they could. I agree.
Instead they invested heavily in Live Service as this is something you can make a nice charts of to pick investors interest.
@@azizalfa752Not really. Stellar Blade was the anti woke crowds champion and it only sold a little over 1 million copies. Compare that to Black Myth Wukong, a far better game and it sold 10 million copies. So being anti woke isn’t the answer you also have to make a great game. Hell look at Baldurs Gate 3 by y’all’s definition that game is woke and yet it was the most successful game of last year because it was full stop just a great game.
The problem with this game is that they charge u 40 bucks for a hero shooter game which is crazy, characters design are terrible, and gameplay is fine but outrageously slow.
"outrageously slow"
have you played valorant or csgo? those games are stupidly popular. some of the slowest gameplay in PvP gaming
@@oxsilathat's the problem lol. Valorant and CS are TACTICAL shooters. They've made a slow, ugly HERO shooter.
Surprise surprise... not.
Concord might be the #1 flop ever on any system the last 40 years.
Failures like Crucible, Redfall, Lawbreakers, Evolve, and maybe all other failures had more players than Concord.
The ghost of Jim Ryan strikes again. I can't help but think his "retirement" was more of a save face move rather than fully planned on his part. Kenichiro saw the writing on the wall. They are going to have to suffer through these bad Jim live service decisions for a bit.
Retiring early is basically a corporate term for you're not performing well.
@@RaiZdbyDINGOES Exactly. It was "hey Jim, these investments are not looking good at all. You went all in on an over saturated, somewhat dying trend, and there is no way we are making this money back let alone turning a profit. You can either retire with your dignity or we will publicly replace you. AKA you're fired. Your choice".
Well, Hermen Hulst is also responsible for that in a BIG way and not just Jim Ryan.
@@RaiZdbyDINGOES 30 years in is retiring early?
@@Buzz_1991 Not saying you're wrong, but I have a hard time believing he gets promoted if he's just as culpable. I'm sure he was towing the line in any public facing way but the buck stopped with Jim.
live service failing makes me happy.
(as a standard or a setting)
1080p is grainy on a big tv and the only time I use that resolution (on pc) is if going higher causes stutters.
Why not use that money to give Helldivers 2 back to the 170 countries it's been locked in
I'll be completely honest...
In conclusion, Sony/Firewalk should have better studied the market, the audience for which this game was intended and its competition... maybe things could have been better
Well... whatever happens, I hope Firewalk/devs do well
The most mind blowing thing is the 8 year dev time... How? Did they party for 6 yeats and then 2 years worked on a game?
Blah blah blame modern audience blah
That's actually great, maybe Sony will finaly reconsider it's politics and understand that people buying their console to play fun games and not to get educated by californain barristas in another AAA game with 200 mil budget that takes 5+ years to be made.
This needed a single player campaign, even if it was an 8 hour campaign, that would have saved it a little.
And it took 8 years of development... 8 YEARS
Single player wouldn't have taken away 100% wokeness and racism (no white characters).
I doubt it. Most players don’t even play COD singleplayer. Its unlikely people would buy Concord for the same reason
No it wouldn’t have- bad singleplayer doesn’t save bad multiplayer.
It looked like crap and really bad idea to even launch the game! Sony is so dumb ! Just re lease old classic games your customers want!
This is proof that just because a game goes multi-plat doesn’t mean it’s necessarily gonna sell many copies
This is a pile of crap placed in front of the player, and you want the player to eat it?? Ugly character design. Why should I play this when I can play the cooler and free Overwatch?
Who would have thought there was a limit to how many games the market would tolerate where you hold a shooty thing in your hand and point it at something.
make garbage game, people dont play it.
who could have seen this coming?
Funny how this dude is just trying to justify this as something good. My man, the game sucks and failed hard, move on already. Everyone else has.
The only good thing is that it failed so magnificently
He's the type of yes man that gets these games greenlit in the first place. No balls.
Something I think people aren't talking about enough is the PS Plus requirement to actually play this. People have been fed up with being expected to pay $80/year in top of the price of the game and when you're game is multiplayer only, it's really a much more expensive game than $40. I know there's a plethora of reasons why this game is bombing but I think that's a part of it.
and if you are a pc gamer you get to play the same game without paying online. as a playstation fan that feels like getting screwed.
Yo I actually love that idea. Just to see those IPs they built up come back for something once again
During the ps4 gen people were crying for MP games from sony, here we are in with ps5 and they are still hearing the same complaints from the ps3 gen PlayStation is probably like these people dont make any sense.
it was a disaster waiting to strike.
You know, the people who BUY the games lol
"Your asking for something you clearly don't want"
The customer is TELLING Sony what they want. They aren't listening. It reminds me of blizzard and classic WOW. LMAO
I'm glad to see new Live Services fail, let me tell you :)
not a live service
@@Timic83tc Yes it is, it will rely on players coming back for all the updates and therefore it's a live service
