Aric Snee has worked glass in studio, academic, and factory environments, and sees a rich connection in all of these experiences. After studying glassworking at Salisbury University in Salisbury, Md., and the Canberra School of Art in Australia, Snee worked in several private studios in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he began to develop a dialogue between studio glass and his traditional factory training and technique. I really enjoyed your commentary, Aric. And your glass pieces looked like FUN to create! I was sort of hoping that the last piece (it reminded me of a glamorous plastic bottle that had been crushed in someone's hand!) had a fine string of glass winding its way around it. Thank you for sharing your design pieces!

I really wish the sound had been kept on, instead of the switching on and off. I always enjoy watching, but the sound on /off really throws me.

Where is the audio?
Does the size of the ovens dictate the size of the glass work? or do you have ovens with larger openings?
The reheating chambers do limit the size of the glass being made. Our largest reheating chamber has a diameter of 32 inches. Thanks for watching!
annoying when the sound goes on and off....like the concept of the glass Apple speaker....just sounds a bit tinny....is there some way to deepen the sound...
The vessel he is making at 1hr, I can see that on its side with a 5watt electrical bulb using it at night just to see around a room instead of a bright light

Can broken pieces be “saved”, or used in the making of another piece? I’m also thinking about glass that’s left on the pipes when the item made is “broken” off (removed). Also, does glass get brittle (or change at all) with age? I was always cautioned that our old/antique pieces were more brittle but that doesn’t make sense to me now. Thanks for the video! So engaging and stimulating to watch artists in their creative process!
Hi Paula, broken pieces can be placed in the garage, which keeps them at 1000 degrees F, but often these pieces end up recycled. The glass that's left on the pipes slowly breaks off as it cools and the colorless glass is remelted in the furnace for future use. No, glass does not get brittle with age. Glass does deteriorate if it is in an bad environment for long enough, such as most burial environments and less commonly harsh atmospheric conditions (too humid/dry). The rate of deterioration depends on the composition of the glass and the environment it is in. Thanks for watching!

Glass speakers.....what could go wrong?
"Amplifier". It's for your phone, so the power of your speakers are very limited. It's not thin glass either, I've seen a couple. The sound in this video is not accurate to the actual thing. Holme gaard is just a little overpriced, imo. Looking at 135 euros for one of them isn't feasible when the sound quality is never as good as a simple speaker (granted doesn't require extra power, but still).

The amount of silence in this video is atrocious. The artist doesn't have to talk to his audience all the time, but even just the normal sounds of the shop would have been preferable to no sound. I did like hearing about his history with glass and he does lovely work.

I've checked my speakers are working more in the first 30min of this video than in the past six months. Dead sound on any video is a bad thing for the viewers. Any sound at all would have been better, even elevator music.

Same as everyone else. No sound in many parts sucks. Also the random unnecessary camera swaps that go to not filming the glass 👌. Your AV department sucks.

Im not really interested in the history of the museum just what project they're making. I enjoy watching them make the pieces and hearing all the sounds that go with it. The pictures were honestly annoying. But aside from that the pieces are very nice!

Did he say that the blue colour was softer than the white? I always find whites and pinks to be the softest.
it depends on the particular white. many whites can be very stiff, especially ones used primarily for wraps.
I personally find (with the colors I use) the stiffer are reds yellows and whites while the blues greens and blacks tend to be the soft colors. although there are some very stiff blacks out there depending on manufacturer.
