I entirely missed the included EXAMPLES folder that came in the Waveshare stuff. Could not get around the differences in their "E-Paper ESP32 Driver Board" and the pitfalls of translating over the regular GxEPD2 Examples. Your vid resolved hours of my wasted time! :) THANK YOU for such a well explained tut, seriously.
Thanks for this video sharing. If I may, I had trouble to connect the FireBeetle to the screen using your mapping. I found how to make it works using pin D8 instead of pin D5.
The new Firebeetle 2 has a, from DFRobot so called, "General Display Interface" GDI with a 18 pin ribbon cable. So my first intention was that is possible to use this port directly with the e-ink display, but the Waveshare displays have 24 pins ribbon cable and the pin mapping is also different. Perhaps you know a workaround how to use this "GDI" with e-ink displays.

Is there a way to change the image on the display , remotely over the internet ?
Does it have backlight ?
I have not seen e-ink displays with backlight, but that's a feature not a bug! :-)
Does it work with Python?
