  • I finished the inlay with a little trouble, but it's done. Going to try a different kind of wood next time. Going with curly soft maple. It was a great gun stock used a lot in the 16th and 17th century for there long rifles. A lot of inlay work was done then. Then on the east coast here after the revolutionary war. Gun maker were fighting for customers so they would really fancy up there rifles to get more customers.
    Thank everyone for watching.

Hey Gunther, sorry it didn't turn out the way you wanted. I noticed when you do your tracing, you do it twice, once on another sheet of paper, and then onto the wood. Maybe the bit of eye and nose got lost in the second tracing. I wonder if you could skip the first tracing and go straight to the carbon on the wood. Also, maybe using a colored pen or pencil to trace would help identify any lines you missed. Just talking from experience here as an artist and art teacher. Anyway, I look forward to seeing the next one. 🙂

@carinanderson8239 Thank you Carin for your comments. The reason I do two tracings is because if I only did one I would have to remake the master every time. I believe the reason I goofed up was because I did not take my time. I tell everybody to take their time, don't rush, and what do I do I Rush!
Thank you so much it was really nice to hear from you.
