Messing around with the GL is interesting and kind of fun, messing around with ML rankings is a massive hit to the wallet because the cost to power is so much more significant.
Yes but it was necessary. ML will always be pay-2-win/cheat-2-win, unless Niantic balances things out a bit more. Plus, this season's meta is pretty stale. Plenty of fast moves need an upgrade, the same for charge moves. Plenty of pokemon need better coverage moves. Bite needs a buff on energy generation, to make Tyranitar useful, Confusion could be made a clone of Incinerate, making Mewtwo much less dependent on Psystrike, and many others.
@@TheRealMrAndrew More recenly it became Palkia Origin and Landorus Therian, but the point still stands. Plenty of Pokemon have potential, unfortunately, Niantic didn't think about balance. We need more pokemon to be usable on each league.
@@dcarvalho6144 yes, in fairness, I haven’t played much ML since landorus got its legacy move, but the staleness drove me away and what you said makes sense.
I mean the very existence of Master League is anti-consumer and only millionaires can play it anyways so who cares. If you're playing this League post coin cost increase you already have generational wealth.
ML specialist 👋 First of all, always take the ML rankings with a grain of salt. Dialga is obviously not ranked 29 in reality. Rhyperior is so high because yes, steels, but also reaching breaking swipe should be 4, 3 instead of 4,4. That, combined with its insane bulk, makes it a terror.
My understanding is pvpoke bases everything off of the hypothetical matchups, but practically speaking there’s not an even distribution of what people use. Tons of people have hundo or good IV Dragonites, Mewtwos, Groudons, stuff that has been around with multiple events. You don’t really have to account for Zygarde when team building for example because how many people actually have it at high level right now? Rhyperior though? Excadrill? Mamoswine? Gyarados? Cheap, effective, been around, gotta be ready. Many other legendaries fit this bill as well. I think when prioritizing builds, knowing the meta is equally if not more important than knowing the rankings.
As someone who plays Master League alot I can say under 2500 Kyogre is seen alot, I see Mewtwo, Metagross, Togekiss, Kyogre, Garchomp, Gyardos, Melmetal, Dialga on almost every battle. Now above 2500 in the rare air elo zone Kyogre may be absent from play.
Small note about Xerneas: The rankings say moonblast and close combat, but it can learn thunder. So as Ho-oh, if you counted five fast attacks from Xerneas, you gotta think twice about shielding or not. I got nuked by a couple thunders before by Xerneases that were specifically baiting Ho-oh out. Florges doesn't even have that! So yeah, I think it is a little off to have it number 9 above both Xerneas and Zacian. Now, for master premier... That would be more interesting!
I wonder if Dragon Tail Groudon becomes more viable. In the sims you outright win a lot fewer matches (at least in the ones), but I think from at least a safe swap perspective, running Dragon Tail lets you either soft lose or get shield advantage against most all of the meta, it even lets you flip the Yveltal matchup in both the 0s and 2s.
One cool thing about Florges and Rhyperior both being buffed is that they create a fantastic core together. This is super important for us free to play players because it means we might finally be able to compete in ML.
I was surprised they buffed incinerate last season. If you weight the damage and energy generation it’s the best move in the game. No wonder Ho-ohs are everywhere
I appreciate the grind on this. I'm really not sure how accurate these projections are. There seems to be a lot of assumptions that are creating this list. I'll start leveling once I see the results. I usually keep a competitive IV Pokemon of each species either way.
I think the XL problem gets solved with the introduction of Gigantimax, which I’m betting will work like megas, except drop XLs and whatever item you need to Dynamax.
Yep, with so many people already level forty or above, I bet level sixty is coming and mon will go from xl to dynamax in order to reach level sixty. Also, gigantimax has to contribute something to the game other than just being a dex entry if they are expecting people to use raid passes or invest money in it. Also, there is a gigantimax of every typing, so you could have it function exactly like megas.
@@TheRealMrAndrew I doubt Dynamax will be something permanent. It's not permanent in the main series. It will likely be similar to Megas, as a temporary form change. It's possible that it might have similar restricions to Megas, like not being allowed to be placed in gyms and not usable in PVP, but it could be the other way around.
@@dcarvalho6144 Could be. I could also see it as you can only dynamax something once it’s level fifty and then there will be ten dynamax levels, ending in a level sixty where you’d level it up by dynamax it a set number of times like megas. Once it hits the max level of dynamax, it’s free to use like a max level mega once off cooldown.
@@TheRealMrAndrew It doesn't make sense when we consider what Dynamaxing is though. It increases the base HP for the Dynamaxed pokemon, without touching the other stats, and makes it bigger. In the main series it changes the attacks to a set of moves exclusive to Dynamaxed pokemon, but I don't know if Niantic will implement that. And you can only use one Dynamax at a time. It makes no sense to make it a thing related to the level up mechanic. Lets not forget also, that along with Dynamax, comes Gigantamax. Pikachu for example has its own Gigantamax form, that fat Pikachu, and it wouldn't, make sense to force players to power up the Pikachu to lvl 50 to be able to Gigantamax it, as it would be a massive waste of resources.
I play allot of ML. Imo, dragonites ranking has been unrealistically high for many reasons. Also, ryperior having ground, dragon and rock hits almost all of the meta for super effective damage. Quickly at that. Going to be good. I don't believe florges comes to close to zacian or the deer. Lack of coverage kills you in master league.
I understand having a type-locked moveset is bad, and that non-STAB moves aren't ideal, but my Florges runs Psychic and Disarming Voice and she's one of my PVP MVPs, easily. Mine is in the Ultra League. People switch Poisons like Venusaur on to her all the time and never expect the Psychic. She beats everything except Fire (Skeledirge and Talonflame) and Steel (mostly just Excadrill). Buffing Fairy Wind doesn't make her worse, so I'm excited to see how it goes.
Master league is pretty much, "here is some of my raiders, that I was leveling up anyways".. So to me, it's no big deal, I will still play with underleved pokemons 😂😅😅😅
I tried to watch this because I wanted some background noise anyway and you're one of my favorite YTers. But I just can't. I care so little about Master League, that I couldn't even justify listening to it for more than 6 minutes. I've never played it, and probably never will.

ML had a bunch of basic b*tch users. Every other team was Groudon and/or Dialga. It was really really stale.

My goat Groudon kept catching strays
Yveltal beats Dialga straight Dark Pulse now because of Sucker Punch's increased damage.

Another caveat is the metal buff. If it’s +1 than these are the rankings. If it’s +2 than the rankings will be very different
Appreciate you, Dan, for taking the time to make this because you say you rarely play ML.

I would love for maxing to drop a lot more xl candy, including rare. We desperately need easier ways to get xl.

Ppl just wait the first week of the new season every thing could change 😂
lol the massaged about the Sucker P that's hilarious!!
I almost spent all my rare xl candy on marshadow... glad I decided to do zarude instead since counter getting nerfed
It gets sucker punch tho
Rhyperior is now the actual goat Dan... Too many moves to surprise

I have a hundo necrozma and still haven't decide what to turn it into.
Any recommendations? I know I'm way late to the game on this discussion
Nerfs to mud shot and surf make it safer for steel types and xerneas/zacian, wich dragonite doesnt like, thats why it dropped
Where does Zekrom and Reshiram rank for the new season? Dope vid too Dan
I have a shundo yveltal. Time to flex and climb!
Why is nobody talking about Dialga? Metal Claw now useable? More Energy generation and better coverage vs. fairies

bro ignored the sucker punch buff which is real reason yveltal so strong now
Great info on branching out to master league.
very nice day to have a 100% rhyperior and yvaltar 😁😁
I'm surprised Dusk Mane overtook Dawn Wings
You don't have vyveltal XL? Ig in your older videos you said you've 1!
Dan in the master league!!!! Interesting.
Master league is pretty much, "here is some of my raiders, that I was leveling up anyways"..

So will my groudon still be good in pvp
Rhyperior is one of the few Pokémon i have a hundo maxed out, can’t wait
I feel bad for people who spent like $100 to raid for a Pokémon for it to become basically useless. Downside to p2w in a shifting meta I guess 😅
Why? It's not wasted... eventually they will b meta again... Niantic needs too continue too rotate metas
