.. I bought one last year not knowing anything about it, other than it had some beautiful leaves.. I kept it in a west window shaded by a balcony upstairs.. I misted it every day along with every other plants, and watered when almost dry.. And it slowly grew bigger and fuller.. This spring I had to repot it, only about 5 month later.. And to my surprice there was another plant in the pot.. Dark green leafs and dark red stems.. I separated the plants in their own pots, as my Birkin had two stems (two plants), and the other one the very same.. I could have made 4 plants but only made two.. Now my Birkin moved to a west window with bright direct light and sun in the afternoon.. The other one I keep in my hallway in low indirect light.. And boy they are growing.. After a lot of research I figured that the other plant in my Birkin is a Rojo Congo.. I treat them the same way as all my other plants.. Water when needed (almost dry and feeding with fertilizer), misting every day, sometimes twice, cleaning every single leaf by hand every other week or once a month.. And it is as happy as can be..

Glad you used the word “unstable” because that solved it for me! I wasn’t sure what triggered my birkin to start throwing all white leaves, which was very pretty until it couldn’t absorb enough sun and just flat out died on me 🥲
I’ll have to wait and see what plant the new shoots produce 🌱

Very informative. Your plant is beautiful. One of my birkins is reverting to burgundy leaves despite the high light she receives 🤷 Chopped and propped.

I accidentally have been doing most of the right things to it, particularly waiting till it is pretty dry b4 watering it and have been cleaning its leaves. I havent been misting its leaves often, but will do so now. It is a lovely plant, and I would like to see its leaves get lsrger.

I am a Philodendron fan, but the Birkin's leaves are kinda small and nothing special IMO. I prefer the Rojo Congo.

It is really a necessity to show us an example of each one of these conditions. By showing us a perfectly healthy plant, every time, is like viewing models wearing a size 2 dress when we are going to order a size 20. Think it will look the same? Not much help!
I can, of course, see what yellow means and brown means, but my plant has had floppy transparent pale yellow leaves with brown edges so I'd like to see what that looks like so I can fix it before it commits suicide.

Sounds like a case of too much water and not enough light. Change the soil to a very well-draining mix asap n remove all dead roots and stems, place in a bright indirect or sunlight area water only when 2 inch soil feels dry. All the best!!

Bottom leaves are yellowing n younger leaves have brown spots. Any idea what's wrong? I didn't water until 1inch was dry and it's placed at morning sunlight spot. It's raining since purchase so didn't mist.

May be thrips or fungal disease.... my Birkin is suffering from the same issues. Majority of the research I've found suggested pests and/or disease, but I can't seem to figure it out either.

I hacked mine into two for insurance, doubt if the younger section is going to make it. If there's no improvement in both will change the soil in a month's time

@@yasheshsharma3418 I decided to do that also (separated mine into 3 plants) last night, washed them well, and cleaned the leaves.... I sprayed the roots with a fungicide & changed the soil, so we shall see what happens...GOOD LUCK WITH YOURS TOO!! 🤞🏽

@@yasheshsharma3418 - Hi 👋! May I join your team🙂? A friend gave me a birkin as a gift in July. Unfortunately, most of the leaves are turning brown. Only water it once a week and it sits on my kitchen counter (out of direct sunlight).
I never changed the soil but will do so now and start misting. Can only hope and pray that the effort saves the little guy. I really like it 🌿.

Not that helpful. Show pictures of the issues next time. Also, misting has been proven over and over to be bad for plants.
