My Problem WITH Ninjago Dragons Rising...

- Ninjago Dragons Rising is now over a year old, and so far it fairs pretty well in my books. However I'm starting to find a lot of retcons in the show which are really starting to get onto my nerves.

Guys just to let you know I’m not hating on Dragons Rising at all, I really really love it, I’m just pointing out some stuff that can be made better, which every season needs. Hope you understand ❤
the problem with DR s2 p2 is that they added too many Elemental Powers. Many of them are unique and good (like Zeatrix's Power), but the rest of the Elemental Powers (earthquake, size increase, etc.) could have been part of the abilities of already existing Elemental Powers (like Size Power could have been part of Shape Power, Earthquake Power could have been part of Earth Power). But there are some Powers that are really stupid in their concept. How can you imagine Soap Bubble Power lol?
the bubble power is surface tension,but that doesnt make it any better to be honest. They were defnitly making new elements because they didnt want to force us to watch a slightly different version of s4, but the main problem with that is the new elements are way dumber than they ever were in season 4. Like speed is a dumb element(its cool, but the element of speed kinda doesnt make sense) then they add in the element of reflex and its just dumber than speed ever was. What they shouldve done was show the children of the old elemental masters use the same elements but in different ways, like you said the element of form couldve just been used to change size, if they used new users they could use speed to dodge projectiles, but arent very fast.
theres even completly unamed powers like phasing or rolling into a ball and moving forwards.And a lot of these elements couldve made more sense if they were something else entirely, like change heat to temperture, and have the temperture of the powers change based on wyldfires mood(or just have her power be soulfire or something, and introduce souls/ghosts into ninjago, properly). Change fusion to magnetism or something
Size should’ve been called Mass to be an actually useful power. The ability to affect the size and dimensions of anything, not just their height.

I don’t really understand why people think that the golden weapons existed way before the source dragons were ever a thing, the sub element of quake may have existed way before the scythe of quakes was even a thing which tbh could add great potential lore for the golden weapons. The golden weapons were created during the time the FSM left the world of the first realm because of a war he didn’t want to choose a side and when you think about it, do the golden weapons have sub elemental powers along with the main ones? Because their was times when Kai’s sword of fire heated up the pizza, or that one time ice turned into sprinkle bits of water cooling off the fire when the ninjas where having theirs 1 v 1’s when Wu used it, or maybe even sub element of quakes was a part of earth at one time causing it to be more effective than earth itself, yes I might stretching that a bit but Ninjago was a different time back then.
Anyways, If we are taking this into consideration, quake being a sub element like heat kind of makes sense because remember most of us fans and even the ninja thought their were two elemental masters of fire however they did have their differences and yes while quakes is a bit of a hit and miss for most people I think I would understand the differences between Cole’s and fracks powers. Frankly that clip that was shown was Lloyd using earth that was completely different than it is now, I completely forgot he made such a humongous split between the ground with the power of earth but I don’t think I’ve seen Cole do that ever, I could be wrong but nothing pops in my head. Plus you have to remember that back then Ninjago wasn’t too deep like it is now, so I don’t really mind it being changed of what Wu said but earth can still make quakes just not like how Fracks quakes work (I guess).
Regardless I don’t think quake was such a big deal to me, and doesn’t really entirely do the same as earth, while earth can create vibrations just like Frack’s quakes but just like Kai and wyldfire where fire instantly turns to ash and heat melts, Fracks quakes are more focused it that direction it can’t manipulate the ground like earth can, only forcefully vibrate it whether he either touches the ground to be more effective of his quakes or not even touching it at all and still being able to shake the entire surrounding area. They do have their differences I just think it wasn’t showcased well imo, but it is what it is.
TLDR: Cole can do both earth and a little bit of quakes, I don’t know how strong, but Fracks quakes are different and more focused than Coles’s quakes but he can’t do earth. Best way I can say it. Although tbh I can see why people think the quakes doesn’t make any sense at all but I guess it’s a thing now.
Powers like quake and technology only existed after the merge, while powers like heat and shockwave existed before the merge, just not in ninjago but in realms like the wyldness or imperium.

I am so ready for them to bring justice to Zane. Like yeah, the fights were rigged, but it still annoyed the heck out of me that they lost. And I agree. Some of the new elemental powers are stupid and extremely uncreative.
Overall, I quite like Dragons Rising, especially (and pretty much only) the second season. I really like how they've handled Lloyd, Nya, and Kai's characters so far, and now I'm just waiting for that to spread to the other three.
I could go on but to sum it up, there are a few things that could be improved, but overall I'm really pleased with how they're continuing on the legacy of Ninjago.
Just please please please save Zane and bring Jay back. (And Pixal and Garmadon.)

Absorption ( the elemntal master can Absorbs natural materials such as coal, iron or water and becomes physically just like it and profit their potentials,like if he absorbs the metal,he becomes solid like metal,or if he absorbs slime,he becomes soft and liquid so he can move fast and And sticks with walls and stuff)

Sand is a good idea, however with blood as you said it’s a kids show I doubt they’d add that, and with absorption one could say skylor already technically has that . But thanks for the ideas those are really amazing

FR though. I get that Speed and Mind might’ve been stretching it when it came to Elements, but at least they were original. Quake is just a lesser Earth and flippin’ Surface Tension just makes bubbles. BUBBLES.
I would’ve just introduced 1 or 2 new Elements and focus on them with previous elemental masters filling in the “filler fights.”

Tbh i think dragins rising is the peak of ninjago storytelling and i have a few reasons why:
First of all it changes the status quo of the show drastically which is something the show really needed
Second it expands on the lore of the show with stuff like the source dragons which is a really good thing in my opinion as even tho firstbourne was proclaimed the mother of all dragons we didn't really know where things like the elemental powers or even firstbourne hersef came from
Third the storytelling is amazing especially with it being serialized because the writers can take a lot more stuff that seems meaningless and connect It to future things which always makes it important to be able to recall everything that came before.
That being said i do have some problems with the series but it's small nitpicks the biggest one being that characters like Euprashia and geo get treated like background characters instead of actual side characters
To be honest now I kinda like the idea of the Source dragons being the supreme dragons over firstborne, overall the story is very pleasing, However some points that I've mentioned are really what's preventing me from rating it any higher. Especially the elemental power one; some elements are just so unneeded; eg Frac, that is a complete carbon copy of Cole's element; We will see how the story goes on though
@@OfficialNinjagoCentral i actually really liked some of the powers especially reflex because i interpret it as activating your power and your body does everything for you instead of just a copy of speed
I also reallyenjoyed balance but there were some dumb ones like surface tension (bubbles💀).
As for frak's power to me it makes sense it's not really a copy as we only ever saw cole making earthquakes with the burst and Lloyd used the power once wich was also not really a quake but more of a consequence of him smashing the ground unlike frak who can use it whenever

Great video I totally agree people are saying that this part was peak and that this tournament was better but no it wasn't they nerfed zane for no reason, the elemental powers are so stupid (wtf bubbles why didn't they put lava or even sand) and I think that frak only exists so he can be Cole student.
I also don't understand why did the ninja lose when there matches were rigged but not sora (plot armor I guess, sorry for my English)

Still hate they didn't bring back og season 4 elemental masters, just only Neuro and Chamille no voice line while they have og voice actors playing different characters and Tox and Mr Pale has voice lines
Im glad someone’s finally bringing up these issues. Season 4 is more memorable for the reasons you listed. First of all, elemental powers seem really blurry now, it feels like anything could pass as one and they didn’t even clarify all the new ones like they did in season 4. Quake I can get behind, bc its not just earth they can shake but anything. I think Cole lost because he is not as invested in the ninja stuff as he used, and they’re slowly phasing him out.
If you've watched avatar the last airbender, you probably know that there are sub-elements. Maybe quake is a sub-element to earth, and perhaps it's a "versatile" way to bring more "elements" to Ninjago instead of always reintroducing the same elements all over again.
(This is just my opinion but, elemental master of balance?! That's crazy and extremely dumb... That's probably just me though.) great video btw!
That is a good point, and with heat and fire I can kinda let that off, however elemental master of quake, that is a no go, that is legit Cole's element, that line from season 2 just retcons Fracs element straight out of the bag lol. Now I can work with some like water and ice etc, however some are really just edging it way too near

yeah because people got elemental powers even though they weren’t inherited because the merges started which must’ve caused an overboard of creation. creation has to be used for good, and since there has to be a balance, elemental powers were passed onto people so they can stop the mergequakes from occurring.

Well tbf Blect was working with Ras and made the games all be able to slightly be tipped in their favor but just barely so it wasn’t noticeable so some of the ninja losing does make sense i guess

You do realise that tos actually has more games than the tournament of elements which actually gives some variety and unexpected within the tournament because you don't know what type of game you're playing within the round meanwhile 90% of the tournament of elements are just 1v1s and getting the jade blade which there wasn't any variety to it also the fact that the tournament of elements felt so short compared to tournament of sources which is kinda ironic since one of them is supposed to be tournament themed but it really doesn't last long

I feel like after crystalized Ninjago should’ve ended dragons rising was fine at first but I think the world would’ve been fine without anymore ninjago.
Unfortunately it’s legos golden child because they never wanna give new original IPs a chance they just wanna keep going with theme that’s clearly running out of ideas.
TOS was larpping off ToE and the whole random elemental masters didn’t make sense at least ToE gave a bit of expedition explaining the elemental masters and elements, all these random elemental masters are just useless feels like something any 8 year old would make for their recolor ninjago OC.
Also the writing in this season was just bad evil jay was poorly executed it was just to pander for jaya shippers that have no life outside of twitter the whole wyldfyre and roby thing is awful because they don’t know what to do with wyldfyre and arin is such a fucking petty character, I feel like sora has been the only cool character so far I loved her development in season 1 but other than that DR has just been really dreadful to watch but I will say one positive thing about ToS it was better than the blood moon arc.
With that said when DR ends don’t keep going Lego needs to start coming up with better ideas because there will be a day when Ninjago becomes repetitive.

Honestly, I can see Quake and Earth being different. Because Ninjago seems to make out Quakes to just be strong vibrations, and Frak can use it on anything, unlike Cole who at most can only do earthquakes.
But I feel like Earth should be much moooreee than quake no? Earth is such a wide term, there’s so many things you could do with that power
@@OfficialNinjagoCentral earth gives you telekinetic control over the earth as well as super strength that was be multifunctional. A quake is mainly just strong vibrations. And it definitely seems like they wanted to do the fire and heat thing again to give Cole a student, so I'll wait to see how it's handled. But so far, I am loving Frak's character.
Cole losing to Frak was the thing being rigged. Its a climbing competition with no Earth in sight. Frak can easily just knock Cole off by shaking everything so he can’t get a good grip. Remember Evil Jay still has forgotten his memories therefore he forgot how to be a Ninja and how to fight. Which is why he isn’t that strong even with Shatterspin. Sure Zane might try to counter Zur but he’s literally called THE MASTER OF REFLEX do you think hes falling for that? Also Zane didn’t use Rising Dragon. And im pretty sure “Lloyd’s Elemental Quakes” were probably just the name of an Earth Move. The fights took place at the same spot but the structure is different and changed each time. Also the series never said Firstborne was the most powerful dragon they said she was the MOTHER of all dragons.
They should have came up with better Elemental Powers tho. They could have use Sand However everyone is dunking on the new elemental powers. LIKE BRO SEASON 4 LITERALLY HAD THE MASTER OF SOUND, MASTER OF MIND, MASTER OF SPEED, MASTER OF FART, etc!
Tbh this vid is right, the fights and elements were just more unique in Season 4. I really love this seasons story but the Tournament was very weak

The new elements don’t feel like elements. Heat should’ve been Lava or Magma. Size should’ve been Mass, as in they can affect the size of anything, not just themselves. Frak’s should’ve been sand or something.

the first two seasons were lose with what abilities the ninja could use since jay also had wind for a scene or two but what i think the main difference with frak and cole is that earth manipulates the earths shape while frak seems to be able to collide the earth to make more powerful quakes with a larger range which could explain why cole lost as fraks quakes could have been more stronger then he expected and he was on a course meant for balance, and zane losing is mostly plot convince but the master of reflex could be able to move parts of his limbs quickly to generate heat and melt ice more faster

Wildfires element is nothing like Kai just wildfire doesnt knowq it like its not just fire she could use it to overheat machines or freeze people to death. Wildfire has a big potential Kai has the power of fire and wildfire has the power of heat which means she can use cold too
sorry but this really made me burst out laughing. You can't tell me heat and fire aren't similar in terms of the ability in Ninjago. If this was a chemistry class then sure. But they are forsure practically the most similar "elements"

every season has retcons, this pales in comparison
no season is perfect, however the issues I find in dragons rising are a bit more bolder than the ones I find in older seasons like the WilFilm era for example, dragons rising is good dont get me wrong, but no season is perfect

10 seasons that are supposed to build up a story but fail, dragons rising is trying to build off that retconned mess, and I'd say they're doing a good job. There's almost no way to fix this show without a bit of retconning.

My problem with DR is that it retcons stuff so much. One of the things that was impressive about Ninjago was its ability to keep continuity so well for such a long show with so much lore. Whenever they added something it fit fairly well into the world without ruining it. Yes, sometimes it was kinda stupid, but in the 15 seasons that aren't DR they manage to keep the lore consistent. There are probably some examples of retconning that I just don't remember, but that just means it probably wasn't all that important. Then DR comes around and is like "No."
The one I remember most is the one Djinn guy basically saying only dragons from Djinnjago can traverse between realms. That or I misunderstood what he said, but I'm just gonna go with it. It's a pointless retcon that makes zero sense.
And the Source dragon BS could just be solved by Lloyd being like "What about First-Born tho?"
"Oh yeah. The Source Dragons were her first children, in-trusted with the power of the elements."
Boom. Problem solved. Actually, why isn't First Born getting involved in this? I feel like she would be doing what she did in Hunted in DR season 1. And get really mad when season 2 part 2 happens. Why isn't First Born getting involved?!?!?!
Oh and half of the new elemental powers are just stupid. Bubbles. Just why? And Heat is such a wasted potential. It could have such cool ideas. Like instead of just making fire but blue, they could change the temperature of anything. That could have such strategic potential, but they gave it to Wyldfyre who couldn't handle a power that involves so much strategy.
And the tournament was really boring ngl, I didn't like the way they nerfed zane and cole to make nya and sora look better it's annoying. Great video
Im...slowly losing interest in the series. Its just getting too confusing. I dont mind the pacing, lego monkie kids pacing its slightly faster and I like that series way better than ninjago. I just feel like theyre adding things just because, to make it more interesting.

the idea of source dragon didnt retcon firstbourne, firstbourne was shown to be a bit weak in comparison to garmadon, who is “biologically her grandson” and is much weaker if shes the strongest dragon
the source dragons are like ninjago gods, above all realms and finially it was explained who created the ninjago realm, the fsm didnt, he created the island, it adds so much to the lore.
it would make sense that the source dragons made people in their own image (dragon) and gave them the essence of creation because they create
it also makes sense that the source dragons mightve created the fsm to stop the conflict without interfering with mortal affairs. it adds so much to the lore and shows there are higher ups
The Firstborne isn’t related to Wu and Garmadon. She’s not the FSM’s mother.
You know one thing I really am struggling to understand, if the source dragons are so powerful, the most powerful beings ever, how did ras manage to capture one? Dragons like firstborne couldn’t ever be captured by anyone, you saw what she done to Iron Baron, so I’m struggling To comprehend how one of them was captured by ras

Dude all of the fights were rigged that's literally why frak won against cole because the entire fight was in his favour and it's not just me saying it because A that actually what happened and B cole literally even says that the fight was not in his favour TWICE. so yeah I would not complain about that one.
Also what Lloyd did was more earth than quakes because he broke the ground creating some kind of ramp thing while what frak does is make the environment shake.
Zane's reason why he lost was not just because it was rigged but because the arena was also hot as well so again it was not in Zane's favour

@@OfficialNinjagoCentralthe show literally said only SOME of the games were rigged. And Sora won against Cinder because he got too cocky, and won against Frak since he refused to cheat by using the Wolf Mask.

My personal problem whith dragon rising always was the cast the only characters that we know n love its the main ninja team and legendary characters like skylor harumi pixal dareth misako garmadon nelson ronin n pythor was replaced by some randoms whith the explanation that they lost in the merge that is making ninjago a not a sequel to the original show but a stupid parody like the new mcu movies

have you ever played a computer in chess for example? On Max difficulty? You can practically never win, thats the idea I'm trying to paint here, Zane against Zur, Zane is the computer on max difficulty, he knows all the moves, remember when he faced cryptor who would counter his every move, or when he faced the overlord? I don't see the idea of him losing to a petty elemental master.
@@OfficialNinjagoCentral look ibr, they did zane a bit dirty but i still think zane would have lost, if his ice gets melted quicker all he can do is try and fight with his fists and obviously the master of reflex will beat him. they couldve made the fight a bit more epic, cole's fighr was a lot more interesting and im not surprised he lost.
