Nero didn't die like this. He returned to Rome, Senate declared him Public enemy, all guards left the Palace, Phaon offered his villa to Nero, went there with 4 loyal freedmen and asked them to kill him. When he heard the sound of approaching horsemen he faced the end., probably killed by one of his loyal man Epaphroditus.
Truth is he was accompanied till the end by his male wife, Sporus (the guy Nero had castrated in order for him to live as Popaea Sabina after she had "died"). Sporus is the one libertus Nero asks to kill him, but he refuses (out of love or spite, we'll never know!).
Really enjoy this both the first and second part. I love ancient Rome time period and have read so much and truly feel as though I've lived in this era.
You will be disappointed to find out that is never the case. I have seen enough Roman films from the silent era to now to say there is never a film that gets it 100% right. The best we can do is judge how well it brings the history to life and makes you care enough about what is going on in the film.
Greatly disappointed there’s no closed caption for the deaf would enjoy this 2nd part of the movie as well as the first movie with closed caption… we have the same right as hearing people can hear & enjoy both movies 😢
I do wish it tried to be less soft ad more honest on what the actual Nero was like, even if they want to make him sympathetic, they should not go too far.
@@olavwilhelm6843 For siding with the Moorish Islamic invaders? Don't act like the Jews did not first start persecuting Christians after Jesus and before Rome ever started.
for a fiction nero film was not bad no matter it took liberties still shows a few things which happened like galbas' entry as emperor to rome. it's the only film about nero (leave out quo vadis 1951) which actually shows galba in rome and the only one which actually shows tigellinus alive greeting galba as in real history tiggelinus survived neros' death for a short time until he met his death in the upcoming civil wars between those three generals who succeeded nero in power ((galba, otho and vittelius))
Agreed it was nice to see the things the film does get right. Still does certain things wrong but I've seen enough films to say they all get things wrong one way or another as there is no such thing as a perfectly accurate history film. At least it does make watching multiple ones interesting when you see them get certain historical notes correct that others did not.
@@flaviushonoriusemperorofro3903 Just got done with the 2006 BBC show and really liked it. My favs were the ones covering the less known parts of Roman history as far as Film and TV shows are concerned like the Gracchi reforms and the last two episodes on the Late Roman Empire like Constatine and the Gothic Sack of Rome.
After watching both parts I can say while the film does take huge Historical license with the actual story as told by both ancient and modern Historians, I still liked it. Yeah, it could have toned down the Christian element since Acte was never shown in any historical record to even be a Christian but that is an inaccuracy that other fictional stories based on Nero have, like Quo Vadis, so I can't hold it too much against this film. I think the main thing it suffers from is making Nero a bit too soft and nice in an attempt to make him more sympathetic, but it went too far at times to the point you really wonder how the hell this guy could ever become the Nero that sent Christians to lions or regularly called for assassinations of his enemies. However, for being one of the only films on Ancient Rome that tries to make a sympathetic view on Nero I appreciate it for that and the Actor for him does a great job of making me feel bad for him after all he has done and I can see what the filmmakers were trying to get at and I think they nailed that for the most part. Seeing him throwing his wreath into the river as he holds back tears after seeing what all his life's work and dreams come down to with the melancholic music playing genuinely touched my heart strings, though I guess I myself am kind of a softy for this stuff but it does the job for me. I wish there were more films that tried to show a more nuanced view of "bad" Roman emperors as I am honestly sick of just seeing the stereotypical sensationalist portrayal we see all the time with stuff like "I, Claudius" since the more in depth you look at what the Roman Emperors were like, the more you see how so much of what we hear is just bias writings by people with a bone to pick with them then actual fair assessments.

Nero falling in love with a Christian slave girl and publicly presenting her to the patrician nobles in Rome is a step too far. This is a nice "wishful thinking" story, but mostly fiction. Artistic license clearly overruled historical accuracy as the general theme of this film. Nero was a Roman emperor who had aristocratic wives (and even a "husband"). Claudia Acte was a woman he understandably, kept in the shadows over the course of a three-year affair. ⚔️

Moral of the story, DON'T be a MAMMAS BOY!
LOL.........He killed his mom......find another thing to say....
@@flaviushonoriusemperorofro3903 Go back and watch the movie more carefully, then you'll understand why.
Poppaea didn't die as depicted in this film. She died because Nero kicked her to death in a fit of rage.
Drugs, alcohol and corrupting influences all played a part in Nero's downfall.
semantics....
not proven !! don't be a copy cat ! read some books
There is no prove that this actually happened, since the sources are unreliable and biased
And then he married another doppelganger of poppaea which is Empress Sporus
