Give this chick a place in The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame already! She is a true artist whom performs straight from her spirit. Beautiful Tori✌

Hell yeah, love Tori Amos ❤️she is a Goddess incarnate !
Shes beyond perfect. Tori saved my life.❤
When musicians write songs this moving, they become magicians.
Just cried listening to it
That is THE best description I have ever heard of a moving melody!!
Well said.
Nicely put 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
One of the best comments I ever read...
No song has ever brought tears to my eyes except this one as a father of 4.
❤ very special this one!! Oh and "Mother" kills me Every time, I can't stand it she's so good all these years later she kills it..in a good way!
Omg I can't listen to this without tearing up...Tori helped me survive high school when my mom died.... brings back so much emotion...
That is so beautiful. Tori has helped me through so much.

FACTS
My mother’s favorite artist, died when I was 10, I’m 15 now. Tori helped me understand life, grief, and gave me hope. She’s an amazing women and I now understand how special she is. What an beautiful song.
It never gets better, but it does hurt less over time. I hope you are doing well.
I am sorry for your loss. I understand my words mean nothing.. Be safe and with Christ
You are loved. If you don't feel you are, find a place where you will be. I'm not a religious person, but churches are often good places to find the kind of loving and care you need--just be sure to find one that is not into manipulation.
Your mother, I'm sure, would want nothing more than for you to be healthy, productive and happy. I know it's hard, but your happiness is the best gift you can give her. I'm a parent, and that is exactly how I, and every parent I know, would feel.
Become the person your mother would have wanted you to be.
❤
"Winter" by Tori Amos is a song which speaks of the love found between a father and his beloved daughter and the fact that life will have to go on without his presence and that he hopes she'll do her best. "Winter" speaks of the loss of her father, due to death.
As the song opens, Tori sings of the closeness found between the two. She sings at the way he protects her, encourages her, and loves her dearly. the beginning she emphasizes that he protects her, looks out for her best interests, and encourages her. - "I put my hands in my father’s glove.." This reminds me of the closeness with my own daughter, when we would go outside in the cold, I would tell her to put her nose on my neck as I held her closely to keep her warm and safe.
The refrain is like a dialogue between father and daughter. Her father says she needs to realize who she is and to understand the greatness, wonder, and beauty within herself. As with almost everyone, we all have our periods of self-doubt. He encourages her when he asks, "When you gonna love you as much as I do?"
When her father says, "Cause things are gonna change so fast", he is stating that he won't be able to be with her for the rest of her life; and things will change when he is not around anymore.
The line, "All the white horses are still in bed" is a telling and prophetic expression. White horses have long been a symbol for death, his death. Then white horses as I see them running through the dark of night tell of the beautiful tragedy of people who fail to do realize the gravitas in every child's life after the death of your father. Almost always, the death of a father changes your life. How it changes you can be substantial, to the positive or the negative, or in some ways it can be the path to an inner peace after the love you felt for your father is overwhelming and even though you might think now it is not worth anything anymore, you'll realize at some point that a feeling as strong as this cannot be useless.
Take this moment to reach out to your father if he's still here. Tell him you love him.
beautifully said... I literally cry like a baby through this song every time hear it... the emotions are so strong... I was a late in life child and my parents are my friends/husbands grandparents age... my entire childhood was being teased and worrying my parents would die sooner than they should... both are in therlir early 80s now.... I wasted time worrying instead of building a stronger connection... now I am making up for lost time.. our relationships are in better shape now than any other time of my life previously(besides being a wee child).. 💜
This song makes me cry every time and I don’t cry easy. This interpretation is right on how I feel. Think of my stepfather that passed away and loved me for who I was and made a scared 12 year old see her worth... absolutely love this song... ❤️

I discovered Tori when I was 50. Now I’m 74 and am still in love with her. She is the essence of beauty! We who know her music have been given an amazing gift, cherish it ❤
I discovered Tori just now, im my 50s. This song is super!
I am in my 25th year of life, discovered her in 2022 and now obsessed with her music and persona.
I’m 40 so I have pretty good memory of 90’s music. I remember Tori Amos from back then but I don’t remember her being this amazing.
She's so beautiful
This album has never been eclipsed.
And never will.
For my father. He passed away in 2002. Your princess has grown into a strong woman. You'll always be my biggest hero.

for my dad who never took care of me
Sweet Cindy, I’m so sorry you are still mourning your absent hearted father. To ugly cry along to this piece of sublime art, is so absolutely gorgeous and completely acceptable and understandable. Peace and love to your heart. 🤍✨🤍
Same, but I'm glad he passed away. He never wanted to participate in life.
Hugs to you all that need them ❤️
@mrhyde119 With that said, guys need to learn to keep 'it' in their pants!
Pro wrestler Mick Foley used to listen to this song to pump himself up for big matches. Tori Amos lyrics are so deep like poetry.
I was searching for this comment lol. Mick introduced me to this great song.

Where has this beautiful voice been hiding all my life? How did I get to 24 years old and never hear of Tori Amos? Magnificent.
welcome friend
Yeah, how did you?
I don't know either. I know her since I was 8.
I think the fact that you are 24 is probably the reason you've never heard of her. lol She's pretty old school, very Kate-Bush-like.
happy that you know her now.🙂
I put my hand in my fathers glove...such a simple phrase but containing so much love...RIP dad...
I'm partly ashamed that it's taken me this long to listen to Tori Amos, and also partly grateful and think that maybe her/her music is reaching me at the exact right time. This is unbelievably beautiful
Its breathtakingly beautiful isn't it?
Never too late to discover great music! I never really discovered Failure until this year.
I found Tori in my early thirties - roughly a decade ago. And I can say from experience that she came into my life at exactly the right time. I was aware of her, but I didn't invest time in getting to know her music until she was recommended by my therapist. Best therapist ever.
I hear this from so many Tori fans, and it's such a beautiful story so many of us share. It seems her music finds all of us exactly when we need it. For me, it was as an awkward teenager trying to make an equally awkward transition into adulthood. And the best part is that her music changes with us as we age and experience life. This song has always hit me, like it seems to hit everyone, but after my dad passed away...oof. It's incredibly hard to listen to without bawling like a baby, but it's also cathartic, so...
First heard this nearly 20 years ago. Thought it was profound, but I was young and idealistic, so it went over my head a bit...I had lots of time and things to do, seemingly. Well, I played this for the first time in years tonight...now I'm older (37), it's coincidentally and literally nearly winter, things will indeed change so fast now that I'm close to giving birth to my first and likely only child, and I've made up my mind...my old dreams are on the shelf, my hair isn't quite grey but will probably get there soon, and there's a fire burning. That crescendo really hits me now...it's not just a manufactured emotion, but a truth and reality. It took me seemingly forever to bumble my way around in life, but now I have a little one on the way with my beloved...things have changed, and will change this winter. What an appropriate song for this time in my life now.
Easily one of her best songs. She’s such an incredible songwriter.
[Verse 1]
Snow can wait, I forgot my mittens
Wipe my nose, get my new boots on
I get a little warm in my heart when I think of winter
I put my hand in my father's glove
I run off where the drifts get deeper
Sleeping beauty trips me with a frown
I hear a voice: "You must learn to stand up
For yourself, cause I can't always be around"
[Chorus]
He says:
"When you gonna make up your mind?
When you gonna love you as much as I do?
When you gonna make up your mind?
Cause things are gonna change so fast
All the white horses are still in bed
I tell you that I'll always want you near
You say that things change, my dear"
[Verse 2]
Boys get discovered as winter melts
Flowers competing for the sun
Years go by and I'm here still waiting
Withering where some snowman was
Mirror mirror, where's the crystal palace?
But I only can see myself
Skating around the truth who I am
But I know that the ice is getting thin
[Chorus]
"When you gonna make up your mind?
When you gonna love you as much as I do?
When you gonna make up your mind?
Cause things are gonna change so fast
All the white horses are still in bed
I tell you that I'll always want you near
You say that things change, my dear"
[Bridge]
Hair is grey and the fires are burning
So many dreams on the shelf
You say "I wanted you to be proud of me"
I always wanted that myself
[Chorus]
"When you gonna make up your mind?
When you gonna love you as much as I do?
When you gonna make up your mind?
Cause things are gonna change so fast
All the white horses have gone ahead
I tell you that I'll always want you near
You say that things change, my dear"
[Outro]
Never change
All the white horses, ah
Hmm
Happy 60th Birthday 🎂 Tori Amos!!!Tori when you’re going make up your mind!!!!
I just called my dad to tell him that I love him and I had to pretend that I had a cold because I was so stuffed up from crying to this song! I probably don't have too many more years with him and I don't want to waste a minute.
My father died today, she is singing this for me as I weep.
Hope you are doing well.
My deepest sympathies for you my father is still alive I am 44 & as long as i can remember even as such a young girl I always wanted the dad that she is singing for here! I have so much admiration for the lovely dads of the world, though your father has left you in person he is envoleped in everything you are and that keeps him as close as he could ever be! I believe love transcends death
My father died 10 years ago. This song still makes me sob
O my God so sad for you. I've lost both mum and dad. I feel your pain. Tori is so good.
😢 My father died 34 years ago, my mother 8. We are ephemeral. The best we can do is to hold onto the good memories and the love. "Love is stronger than death." 😢
She should be waaaayyy more famous that she is. Writes and sings her own songs while playing the piano. Those talents are rarely seen together in artists that are ruling the charts these days...
Anyone else here after finding out *MICK FOLEY* used to listen to this song/singer before his matches , to calm him down and get rid of the pre-match nerves 🥊

Holly crap. That was like one of the best songs I've ever heard. It actually brought me to tears at the end. What the hell.
Saw Tori Amos last night. Simply Incredible.
I just saw Tori in concert last night and when she sang this one she was choking up through the last minute or so. I think everyone around us was crying.
It's my daughters and I theme song of you will. Morbid but it's one my funeral songs, not for a long time though🤞Never heard it live, just saw her in Manchester. However, my daughters middle name is Josephine and we've had that pleasure. We both had tears when she sang that, although I had allergies 😆.
Wonderfully powerful feminine enchanting goddess. I'll loved her in highschool and I'll love her forever

I stumbled onto "Little Earthquakes" at the height of Grunge. She was in my collection along with STP, Nirvana, P/J, Soundgarden and Alice I/C.
I've listened to this song since it originally released. I am now almost 59 years old and this song is so true.
Thank you❣
Dan B. I'm 64 and bought it for my teenage children. Fell in love and still listening.🌻🌻
Yes, it really hits harder the older you get.
I have as well. I was 10 when I asked my parents to buy me the cassette album, Little Earthquakes. I’m still listening to it as I lay in my bed, 40 years of age. Still a masterpiece.
I am 71, and the Song ist still true!
She plays the piano and harpsichord simultaneously! I bought this album on casette when it was released. Her music is timeless. It's honest, sentimental, sad, rebellious, and raw. All the good stuff.
Do you still have the casette !? nice comment, she is incredible.
This song turns Mick Foley into a killer.
Mankind is a mad man. I can just hear his pig squeals and screaming the word, "mummy" to this song.😂

Someone who truly knows how to sing with her natural voice. So very talented. The instrumentation is beautiful accompaniment to her voice. No kitschy fake accent, no kitschy auto tuning, no kitschy gimmicks. Just beautiful, honed talent.
When we all connect, we realize this song is about all of our Dads.
for me my mom
Moved to Austin in late November ‘ 92…..
Tori came to town a few weeks later and she was my first Austin Texas concert to take in in that awesome city….
In two days it will be 6 years since my dad passed away, a few months before he did he made me listen this song, saying it was one of his favorites. Since I’m French and I was really young back then I didn’t understand the lyrics. Since he died I think of him each time I listen to this song but I never came back to the lyrics until today, now I feel like he wanted me to hear that even when he knew he won’t be here anymore
This song can serve as your best friend.
And as your worst enemy - in a good way :)

this song still touches me after 30 years and even more so when my father died a year ago
My favourite Tori song, such a beautiful piece and can't understand how anyone could dislike this. Those people must be lacking a soul.
runebinder .... I don't know ither idc at the end of the day it's so beautiful just beautiful
This is exactly what I was thinking
I like Tori Amos, she's a magnificent artist. But when someone doesn't like a certain artist, it doesn't say anything about the artist or the person who dislikes....its just a matter of TASTE, that's all. Some people do like certain music.....others just don't. Perhaps you will dislike a certain artist or music which 'they like'. That doesn't say anything about you neither....its all a matter of taste. So many people, so many flavours. Music is very taste related.
Some part of me thinks the people who don't have some tugging at their heartstrings over this song might've had a different sort of dad.
He said I always wanted you to be proud of me. I always wanted that myself. When you gonna make up your mind, when you gonna love you as much as I do.
Wanted this to be the father daughter dance at my wedding. DJ talked me out of it. He was a sucky DJ. My dad is awesome, though.

So much of Tori Amos reminds me of Kate Bush. Both incredible, but Tori’s music really takes me to another realm. Love her.

My favorite song and music video from Tori. There's something about her face language in that video that feels both very personnal and dramatic. She and Kate Bush truly elevated mainstream music to a divine level.
This woman left such an imprint on me with her music. Amazing artist.
Tori is one of the best musician/performers ever. Legend!
Discovered this song from Mick Foley. He would listen to this song before his matches. A truly beautiful piece of music.
Her lyrics and voice still give me goosebumps
I woke up to this song in 92 or 93. I was stationed in Germany and fell asleep with my TV on. It was on AFN cause that was the only channel we had lol. In the middle of the night the played music videos and her voice woke me up, then her face really woke me up. Every time I hear these lyrics I remember how strikingly beautiful Tori is. Those green eyes!!
I used to be in love with her and her music. She was one of my favorites.
You are still my favorite Tori 😀
Youre not the only one :D Hypnotizing woman.
around this time of the year i revisit this music ..jan. 29th will mark the the 13 year anniversary of the loss of my oldest daughter and her unborn son to a drunk drug impaired driver this song reminds me of the bond i shared with her and her younger sister whom i lost 2 years later...thank you tori for this piece of music and the memories it helps me retrieve no matter how painful they may be sometimes..its all i have left of the three of them ...and i cherish still.
I cannot make it through this song these days without crying or getting a huge knot in my throat. Breathtaking and startlingly relatable album from my formative years.

TheAwakenedINFJ Really...nope...her emotions and mimics are so fake...
My dad actually got me into Tori Amos. Such a great song.
I just love this song so much...she sings about "all the white horses", which to me parallel her father's battle with cancer. Such a beautiful tribute to her Dad.
How anyone listens to this song and doesn't at least tear up is beyond me..
My Father was awonderful man and I love the Winter☃
It’s been 31 years today since I lost my dad. He was 36 at the time and I was 9. I hope he knows he will always be my hero and that my son was born on what would have been my dad’s 57th birthday. My son has my dads name for a middle name, after that coincidence how could I not?
I'm sorry so sorry about your dad, I hope you doing great now? You beautiful lady.
Why does this always make me cry?

I have to listen to it alone lol
Darkphantaria Every single time I hear it.
+Darkphantaria I knoooow!
This song did not for many years but then one day I just started to understand the lyrics (and I got older) then it hit me and now I tear up as well.
When I was a teen, I had the chance to sing this as part of a winter concert my vocal teacher put on for the winter holidays. But I got sick and things happened and I missed the winter concert. I deliberately left the song sheets on the dining room table for my dad to see. He saw the music and read it and liked it, but honestly, that was it. He never told me if seeing what I wanted to sing to him meant anything. My father has passed away since then. Though this song didn't give me the chance to connect with my dad, I still think it has the chance to help other kids reach their own distant fathers. All my love to those of you who do.
how can she not cry when she sings this? its so charged. not to say anything about her incredible performance and composition skills. gem in our culture. when are we going to love ourselves as much as father loves us("when you gonna make up your mind, when you gonna love you as much as i do"? that's a hard question, which roots in why we hate ourselves.
Without doubt, the greatest song recording ever made. Thank you Tori.
My first Tori song, my first ever tape (that I ran through until it no longer played). LE and UtP carried through my father's death when I was 14. I was able to grow because of both albums, and they are indelibly a part of who I am. This song, and video, continue to give me goosebumps to this day.
This always reminded me of my Dad. Now that he is gone, it has so much more meaning. I am working on loving myself as much as you did. I love you Pops, forever and a day 💙
This song always reminded me of my dad because his hand was always the only strong one I ever had to hold. I emailed this song to him a few months before he passed away from lung cancer. He knew at the time I sent this, but didn't want to break my heart, he messaged me back that the words meant so much to him, and told me how much he loved me. When he passed I was there with him when he took his last breath, and this song was playing over and over in my head.💖
One of the most beautiful songs-- written and sung by one of the most beautiful women. Just a beautiful, haunting, emotional classic song.
No matter how old you and I get...
I'll always love you.

one of the best and most moving songs I've ever heard. You must let it break you down, it's for the best.
Such a beautiful song! Just discovered Tori yesterday. I wish music like that was playing on radio and TV instead of the usual crap. There are many great artists out there, but they are buried under piles of garbage, and one can miss great music for decades, as was the case with me and Tori.
@bytefu Tori Amos Winter is one of my personal favorite song

My favorite female artist! Tori has the voice of an angel.I've been a huge fan of her for over 25 years. She has truely inspired me in my art work and the way I feel.I LOVE you Tori Amos
Agree. Also, her piano playing is beyond beautiful. She has such a delicate touch.
One of the best songs ever
I so miss my daughter......This is a painful, and brilliant song.Touches the heart. Thank you Tori.
One of the most beautiful and touching song ever written about childhood.

Powdered Toast man
1st: Fucking awesome name!
2nd: There are more than a few songs that make me cry, but this one hits particularly hard. My father and my wife passed away about a year apart, they both loved this song.
Awwwww I love the powder toast man. Right behind log.
it takes guts to love a girl like tori amos. its like loving the ocean or the tides. what a f**king beautiful souls
this song is the ANTHEM for how complicated and important the relationship between father and daughter is.
it's a beautiful song. I love it, but I can't listen to it, because it will make me cry. It's intense, and it's overwhelming.
not many songs can do this to me. In fact, I don't think I can think of another song that has this effect on me.
I have to dare myself to listen to it. I will cry like a frightened child every time. I have lost my father and this song makes that loss happen over again. The line, "You must learn to stand up for yourself 'cause I can't always be around" shatters me into a thousand fragile pieces.
Her song, "Pretty Good Year" does that to me...
Try typing in, "you can be king again." It's the first one with 76 million views. I'm sorry to hear about your father. Hope all is well.
All her songs are like this for me. I don't know why. Her and Regina Spektor are really the only two who I love but can only take in small doses
>>I can't listen to it, because it will make me cry.
Many listen to it BECAUSE it will make us cry.
The emotion in Tori’s voice on this song still makes the hairs on my arms stand on end... this moves my soul.
My fav Tori Amos song. “Winter”.
I used to listen to this song every night with my dad when i had to go to bed between like 3 to 6 years old. Im 18 now, and I'm putting my 6 year old siblings to bed while they listen to the same song to fall sleep. It brings me tears of happiness to see it from my dad's point of view and how special it really was.
