- Visit www.datron.com for more info. Custom Longboard being machined on a DATRON M10 Pro. M10 Pro features linear scales on all axes driven by oversized motors and drives that yield a +/- 5-micron position accuracy and rapids up to 30 meters per minute. The addition of linear scales led to the development of a newly designed high-speed CNC control for 3 to 6 Axes. The M10 Pro has a direct-drive, liquid-chilled, 40,000 RPM spindle using HSK-25E tool holders with 1-micron run-out. With a gantry construction, the M10 Pro has a maximized work area of 40" x 28" while only using a floor space footprint of 79" x 83".
Where on earth could I ever get such a sick board. Nothing on the market today even competes with such craftsmanship
The engineering possibilities of that machine are ENDLESS! What I would have done with a machine like that... my imagination is running wild!
Oh my goodness this is AMAZING. I'd LOVE to ride this.
And I'd also love to machine it and see the CAD program for this.
This right here is my dream co-op!
Come to IMTS 2014 Booth #N-6021 and see it LIVE! Maybe even win a deck. ;)
DatronCNC trust me, if I were close to Chicago, I'd be there bothering you guys without hesitation :p
Correct. 2 mil. radius tool for the bevel on the pockets and around the perimeter of the board. We have actually optimized the program further since this video was shot ... so the cycle is even faster now!
I really wish the DXF for this board was out there to be had Id have a great time running this on my mill and then adding a few out runner motors.
Yes, this board has been ridden and it is amazing. I plan to end the video with the machinist riding off into the sunset ... just haven't had time to complete it.
The aluminum is 1/2" thick. The pockets are milled out on the bottom of the deck to take out weight while leaving structural integrity.
Amazing machine, and fantastic project and video production to illustrate its capabilities.
One question I have, why is the final contour on the back conventional-milled rather than climb, as the pockets and other parts are?
just wow!, I watch watch all the time ... ,time well spent!, greetings
That's so damn fast. The last but one operation of just one step was enough to get desired effect of knurled back (no sharp edges at all)?
Mesmerizing. So badass.
Really nice!!! How much for one??
Unbelieveable sick!
Please tell me that u took it for a spin..
best and smartest machine ever ♥
How was it fixtured? Cant see any clamps anywhere
Joanathan, with our high-speed milling machines we offer optional, integrated vacuum table workholding in sizes from 18" x 12" up to 24" x 36". These are designed to swiftly and efficiently secure flat workpieces to the bed of a machining system. Thin stock, which could be secured only with great difficulties before, is now secured literally within seconds. Quickly secure plastic foils as thin as 0.001”, to 0.250” large aluminum sheets. This vacuum table features airflow-optimized ports, with recessed chambers, to provide superior vacuum distribution. A low cost, gas-permeable substrate serves as a sacrificial vacuum diffuser, allowing the cutter to machine through the workpiece, without cutting into the table.
I'm not really a skateboard kind of guy...but I want that!
Fucking sick. I love it. What about a pintail?
Was this video sped up?
i wants that longboard
WOW!
We will be raffling these longboard decks at IMTS - September 10 - 15, 2012, McCormick Place, Chicago, IL, BOOTH N-6049 (North Building). Visit our booth and drop off your business card for a chance to win!
Unbelieveable sick! Sub!
my end mill will broke in that speed + step lose on x-y axis
nicy
