New 6abc transmitter makes broadcast signal more powerful

- 6abc has some new technology that will help our viewers who have had trouble watching us over the air with antennas.
We have been working hard for years to get the approval we need to increase the power of our signal, and now the government has given us the green light!
A brand new, powerful, state-of-the-art transmitter should fix the problem - or at least greatly improve it.

You should’ve moved to Hi VHF at the minimum or even better to UHF. Low VHF (channel 2-6) is a terrible frequency. I guess now it’s too late because all the UHF bands are full
I remember back in the day you could hear channel 6 on fm radio 87. Something lol
Needs to be switched to a different band, not boosted. Completely useless.

Last night I couldn't get it in on 2 different TV tuners. Normally if I stick a 3 foot wide VHF antenna out the second floor window it came in. It seems you've made the problem ever worse with all the complaints here.
Dear ABC Philadelphia, I just installed an RCA amplified HDTV multi-directional antenna on my TV to watch local channels. I performed a scan. I get lots of other channels, but not ABC. Is there a different antenna that I should use? Your tower is within range of my location in NJ. Sorry, but your upgrade just doesn't seem to be working!
Is your antenna designed to pick up Low-VHF signals? To get more information about 6ABC Philadelphia watch The Antenna Man channel on RUclips. Maybe his video might help you because Low-VHF signals are very difficult to pick up and are prone to interference making it harder to receive.
My new smart tv doesn't pick it up. 10/24/2023. You also don't stream unless you sign up for funk or slosne. How does the Fcc let you get away with this?
FCC only regulates the broadcast signal over the air. It does not regulate streaming. Your signal reception can be affected in many different ways that is outside the control of the station.
If you already have a good outdoor antenna and still having issues, it's likely where you are that plays a role in TV reception.

Is there any way to currently buy a free TV oldstyle set today with rabbit ears? I would love to just get the 5 channels I used to get before cable made all of us pay $250/mo instead of FREE!!
Depending on your location and antenna type, indoor or outdoor there are currently 39 stations transmitting in the Philadelphia area. That probably means there are a ton of subchannels available increasing that number of offerings many times over. Here in Albuquerque, you will get roughly 80 channels between the main and subchannels out of 27 over the air signals (without filtering out the useless crud) . Just looking at the big four stations plus PBS in Philadelphia , you are looking at 22 channels that are probably easily receivable because they are full power stations and have mostly decent subchannels to choose from. There are notoriously tons of other channels less interesting and repeats of the same channels so I wouldn't count those, or shopping channels or religious channels that never have anything on but talking heads.
So if you have any TV bought since at least 2009 (after the digital tuner mandate came into effect) you should be able to put up an antenna and get those stations I would expect.
If your really looking to find an old CRT tube TV than I would suggest looking at estate sales or Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace to find an older TV, but it will need a converter box just like back in 2009 after the digital transition. There are absolutely no analog transmitters on the air anymore in any place. The last of the analog low power transmitters went away back in 2021. RUclips channel Antenna Man documented one of the last analog low power transmitters still on the air in 2021 right before it had to be shut off; I think it was some home shopping channel that was hardly receivable because it was so low in power.
