I've been using using the Toyota Sprinter Apex (1986) most of the game with a few exceptions like driving Nakai sans Porsche, it makes a great drift car

i've just figured out that those people in the game, the characters, aren't Americans. So I googled and watch their videos of them speaking their native language. They're British. Awesome!
5:13 so there is a good way of turning angle on this cause it's front wheel drive so it will under steer a bit more so it's like now you can turn and then drift. You disable brake for drifting and the you turn and drift. That's even wursee. Blackpanthaa 2016

yes , awd you can really cut some corners going insane speeds , fwd like the civic you can still easily steer at high speeds , rwd feels agressive and tough in the corners , but can drift really well

The Mustang (1969) has a crazy bodykit that changes it drastically, also the Fairlady changes drastically with a bodykit. Bodykits are pretty much what change the cars look a lot, not much customization :/
The 86 triplets (GT86, FR-S, BRZ) come close
The Original Skyline GTR, Original MX5 and the 180sx are the most customizable cars and in the case of the Skyline I believe you can customise almost everything.
