I hate how the cast basically told the daughters to deal with disrespect that boarders on abuse simply because the abuser is their parent who will eventually die. Absolutely not healthy advice and shame on them. Selena did PHENOMENAL job raising her daughters to be confident and respectful to themselves and others

YES, My father died w/o having spoke to me for 3-4years; ALL b/c of his wife. She didn't even want me to get updated information about his health when he was in ICU. She wouldn't even let my sons and I see him when we were in town for my mothers funeral. Those Actions were EXTREMELY hard to forgive her. She's forgiven but there is NO Roconciliation to be had. My parents are in heaven together just as they would been on earth had he NOT had an affair. You die how you live!

I think he feels the way some baby mothers feel. He had the hard work of raising them, taking care of them, dealing with their trauma and emotions while she ran off into the sunset with another man. But now here she comes back when most of the hard times have passed as their friend instead of their mother. And they’re forgetting who left and who stayed. What the other parents have to understand is in MOST (not all) cases, no matter how bad that other parent was, that’s still their blood and they still love them. I think what people don't get is Gucci hates Selena because she was never his 1st choice. When Selena left him he refused to sign the divorce papers. He was with Gucci for 10 years. He said he was thinking she would come back around and that never happened I think it was during the 7th year Gucci gave him an ultimatum that's when he signed the divorce papers. And married her a few months after. Gucci is harboring resentment towards Selena because Jj still loves that woman. Stirring up this drama was to solidify a divide between Jj and Selena and it worked because they were still cool.
Right and it’s why so many people are f’d up in the head because of that same old tired perspective. If a parent feels a child voicing their opinion as disrespectful the parent is the one with the mental issues. There is nothing wrong with respectively voicing your emotions to your parents. If you can speak your emotions to God you can surely speak them to your parents.
I was gonna write this same comment and I decided to delete it. It really annoys me when people don't value the child's pain. I went through this with the man who donated his half to help bring me here. And even though he treated me and his other kids like crap people would tell me not to disrespect him or ignore his treatment because "he's my dad" whatever anger I had for him I would unleash on them I didn't care if they were my senior. Don't tell a hurting child how to feel or dim her pain. Respect goes both ways. Giving life doesn't mean to mistreat. One thing I respected was my mom no matter how horrible he was she never talked bad about him. She let me see who he was/is for myself.
JJ is also contradicting himself when he says Sunjai and Sky got their attitudes from their mother because in the very scene before this he said he had never seen Selena act the way she did with Gucci. They were married all that time and he never saw her act like that? So that tells me Gucci is the problem. Everybody and I mean everybody sings Selena’s praises and says she’s the nicest person. But no one says that about his current wife.

We loved Salena, JJ and their girls waaay before Belles. We had no idea they weren’t together. I’m sure that this was hard for Sogucci since she wasn’t even an extra on their show. We even prayed for Salena when she got gravely ill. I feel she wanted to get back at Salena at the event. I’m glad that they ran the clip back of her threatening to throw the drink at Salena. She knows Salena and knew that she would respond. I feel this was her way of making sure Salena didn’t come and take over the show and she Sogucci get pushed in the background again. If she is on the show then Salena should too!
They said it super early on in the show, but they have chemistry when they're together so if you watched the later seasons of Bring It, you would think they were still together.
Those people are telling the truth about the matter. If you don't like the role that you played in somebody's story. Then that's your fault and your decision that you made at the time. I hear Carlos and Aikeshia when they say “you never lost a parent” and they are right, life is so short. But I also know people say that just to guilt the child into not living and speaking their truth. Of course losing a parent is terrible but so is ignoring your own pain just get along. Selena and her children are dead azz wrong. If she had assaulted anybody else, they would have pressed charges against her too. Selena went looking for a problem and she found one.
The girls didn’t say they dislike their dad. All they want is for him to stop talking badly about their Mom. Carlos all you had to do was convey that to JJ and tell him to work on that so his daughters feel more comfortable around him.
They tried to manipulate that whole situation. Why do we as the children have to fix what our parents messed up? They act like it’s wrong to tell a parent when they are wrong or when we feel a way about something they did to us. That stay in a child’s place mentality bs doesn’t work when we’re grown.
That's the Deep South mentality and they MS grown. JJ is the 'parent' and Sunjai/Star/Sky are the 'children' even though EVERYBODY is grown now. I think Selena lets them be adults and respects them as adults.
You have to be able to tell both parents that they’re wrong. Allegiance will cause you to lose out on something fixable. You have to be able to accept apologies. I lost a parent and valuable time, due to allegiance. Accepting my stepmother was hard, but she wasn’t hurting me.

JJ has a belief about how this woman treated his daughters while they have their own experiences. Her own daughter admitted that she neglected them to run behind JJ. The problem is that this is so MS (like my momma and her family). Listen.....this was so triggering to watch. I grew up with a toxic father who spoke very ill of my Mother even though he was the one who cheated and beat her up. My Mother never uttered a bad word about my Dad. She told us the ugly truth but only when we asked questions about things that we saw growing up. She never volunteered information and she would always tell us to love and respect our Dad. She didn't say your Dad was this or that. And to our detriment, she forced us to have a relationship with him after they divorced. Speaking ill of your child's other parent to them is abusive and I can speak from my experience that it is HARD to forgive and move past that. They will only resent you for it later in life. If you have children and you don't get along with the other parent please find a way to refrain from bashing them because you're not hurting that other person. You're hurting your children and one day they will grow up and have their own minds and understand the truth of the situation. I'm happy Carlos stopped the back and forth but I understand them not wanting to speak to their Dad. Especially since they've communicated to him how it affects them when he speaks ill of their mother. This is just a nasty situation and I hope they can work it out for the betterment of everyone involved.
Something happened in their marriage.. JJ had custody of those girls, and they lived with him growing up. He raised them by himself.. Not Selena.. That's why he said in this clip that they were dying for their mother's attention and didn't get it. He said that Gucci was helping him by combing their hair and making them plates.. treating them as a mother and not like a sister and best friend (Selena).
I went thru this with my daddy growing up sometimes men are just blind to women when they're married or in relationships. My mom tried to tell him for years but he finally saw the truth.

I hate seeing children (grown or not) in the middle of their parents drama. Both of my parents are deseased and it hurts me to my core to see these beautiful girls at odds with their dad. When one of them passes away.. ain't no coming back from that.
My thing is that it seems like Selena been dealing with this from JJ and So Gucci and never really involved the girls until this show happened. FACTS! My father stopped spiking to me. Then he couldn't speak at ALL or even write. It sadden me that he got that bad. But his wife was KEEPING Secrets about is health. He died NOT being able to speak or express himself for 3 + years up to his death. My 8yo his dad has NO relationship with him an NO longer sees our son because of his relationship and Midlife depression untreated. It is so SAD to witness. But thank GOD for Miguel he is EVERYTHING and More than a boy NEES in a father. BUT GOD!

This is not rocket science. You can never compare a real woman like Melody to a garden tool like Selena. And I am not even a fan of Melody! I loved how Carlos made the executive decision to pivot and have a heart to heart with the daughters because I NEEDED to hear that- so many times you wanna give your parents a piece of your mind because you grown now-not realizing your parents are human too and don’t always have it all together or “parent us” the way we feel that they should, but whatever tension or animosity you may feel for your parents is not worth it in the grand scheme of things when tomorrow is not promised to any of us. & this is not a end all be all statement because I get some parents are really toxic but it seems like in this situation the day is trying.

Man it’s literally NOTHING wrong with voicing your opinions to your parents in a respectful manner? I welcome my child to respectfully discuss their emotions and especially as it pertains to me. That’s why people die so young and have so many emotional and mental issues because they were never able to express themselves to their parents.
I come from a blended family. This is serious and not easy to fix. Seeking professional help may be needed for all involved. So sad. Setting healthy boundaries too. Respect is important. Forgiveness is needed. My stepsister doesn’t talk to me now.

I love that the host tried to mend the brokenness. Yes life is short, heal that hurt, and continue to honor your parents (and that’s not to say tolerate disrespect they do when you’re grown or in your marriage) but find a common area that you can cling to bond with and just love them even if it’s awkward, from a distance but still check in them, still behave in the world in a way they can be proud of, still show some respect even if they are wrong and selfish because God made a promise to those who honor their parents. It’s not just about them even though your parents gave you life so some type of love is there because they could’ve easily gone to the clinic, but it’s most importantly for your soul. I hate when people say “ I lost a parent you only have one parent” I feel like that’s a one of the most manipulative things people say especially to guilt children into trying to forgive their parents but not make the parents take responsibility in the part that they played into why their children are feeling the way they do.
I feel like it’s on Gucci and JJ. It’s one thing to be a child and one parent planting negative seeds about the other one in their head and it affects the way they feel and move about them and the person they married and step family. It’s another thing when they become adults and they still feel that way. Over time you start to see who was real problem as you get older. If Gucci was being nice to them it would show.

Some step parents are absolutely horrible, evil people and I had one and if I ever ran into it in the street, I don’t know what I do to her. God has made it where I have never run into this lady even though we only stayed 15 blocks apart. She was one way when it was just us and a totally different person when my father was around . Thank God for our neighbors who saw things going on and told my dad and threatened to call DCF if he didn’t address it. We don’t know what goes on when the cameras stop rolling.

There were things I held him accountable for that his mom didn't hold him accountable for but entertained bad habits! So breaking that pattern and getting him to understand that me holding him accountable wasn't attacking him. It's a lot to unpack our triggers and trauma together with the addition of children. One thing I thank God for is knowing my lane and not competing with anyone but myself. There are times when my youngest bonus baby will say he has two mothers and I try my best to explain that I'm a bonus parent but his Mom will always be his mom. I feel bad for saying that because it's not that I don't look at him as my own but I never want to take the title or position of something that I'm not deserving of. I don't know the experience of carrying and delivering a human being.

We loved Salena, JJ and their girls waaay before Belles. We had no idea they weren’t together. I’m sure that this was hard for Sogucci since she wasn’t even an extra on their show. We even prayed for Salena when she got gravely ill. I feel she wanted to get back at Salena at the event. I’m glad that they ran the clip back of her threatening to throw the drink at Salena. She knows Salena and knew that she would respond. I feel this was her way of making sure Salena didn’t come and take over the show and she Sogucci get pushed in the background again. If she is on the show then Salena should too!

Listen.....this was so triggering to watch. I grew up with a toxic father who spoke very ill of my Mother even though he was the one who cheated and beat her up. My Mother never uttered a bad word about my Dad. She told us the ugly truth but only when we asked questions about things that we saw growing up. She never volunteered information and she would always tell us to love and respect our Dad. She didn't say your Dad was this or that. And to our detriment, she forced us to have a relationship with him after they divorced. Speaking ill of your child's other parent to them is abusive and I can speak from my experience that it is HARD to forgive and move past that. They will only resent you for it later in life. If you have children and you don't get along with the other parent please find a way to refrain from bashing them because you're not hurting that other person. You're hurting your children and one day they will grow up and have their own minds and understand the truth of the situation. I'm happy Carlos stopped the back and forth but I understand them not wanting to speak to their Dad. Especially since they've communicated to him how it affects them when he speaks ill of their mother. This is just a nasty situation and I hope they can work it out for the betterment of everyone involved.

I love that the host tried to mend the brokenness. Yes life is short, heal that hurt, and continue to honor your parents (and that’s not to say tolerate disrespect they do when you’re grown or in your marriage) but find a common area that you can cling to bond with and just love them even if it’s awkward, from a distance but still check in them, still behave in the world in a way they can be proud of, still show some respect even if they are wrong and selfish because God made a promise to those who honor their parents. It’s not just about them even though your parents gave you life so some type of love is there because they could’ve easily gone to the clinic, but it’s most importantly for your soul.

GIRLS given to the father and not the mother by a Judge for so long is disturbing. For some reason this woman didn’t prepare for death of a spouse, divorce or any other possible tragedy to keep her family together, but she has the up-to-date weaves and outfits. Remember the Coach of their dance team always had to put Selena in her place. The only time any conversation comes up about Selena from their father is when those girls become vocal (abrasive) or dismissive of him and his wife who were there for them. He could had a different type of woman that paid NO attention to them. Who can speak on the family dynamics better than their father. He’s the one who stepped up and did it alone for lengthy time. You have to respect on that!! No matter their age, they need to stay out of, stop becoming emotionally involved, vocally disrespectful towards their father and his wife. Because kids can feel the difference and you can't hide your true thoughts and feelings behind gifts and fake support. Real recognize real. Just remember that if you should marry that man and you have a child or children with him and one day you divorce that you'll never be able to date for fear of meeting someone who feels exactly like you do or you're going to make excuses for him to your kids because you think it's perfectly fine to disregard them as long as he doesn't disregard you. There are a lot of women who feel like you and are so miserable.

I don't think her comment was meant in the way you're interpreting it because I have three beautiful bonus babies,
but it's hard at times to find my footing. I love them as my own but the situation can come with unnecessary drama. A lot of times I feel like I'm a silent mediator for my love and the mother of his children. I don't believe in bad-mouthing or disrespecting their mothers in front or behind the children. I don't agree with one mother getting special treatment than the other and I damn for sure don't agree with kids getting treated differently because of the mothers. I was a product of this type of environment. My mom bashed my father so much that it turned me against him and they both messed up the dynamic of me having a relationship with him. I say both because of my mom's bashing and my father not fighting hard enough to be in my life. By the time, I wanted to mend my relationship with my dad he was on his deathbed. One thing I can say is my love doesn't talk badly about his children's mothers in front of or behind them. There were things I held him accountable for that his mom didn't hold him accountable for but entertained bad habits! So breaking that pattern and getting him to understand that me holding him accountable wasn't attacking him. It's a lot to unpack our triggers and trauma together with the addition of children. One thing I thank God for is knowing my lane and not competing with anyone but myself. There are times when my youngest bonus baby will say he has two mothers and I try my best to explain that I'm a bonus parent but his Mom will always be his mom. I feel bad for saying that because it's not that I don't look at him as my own but I never want to take the title or position of something that I'm not deserving of. I don't know the experience of carrying and delivering a human being.
