I agree about the end. That's copied from the original but here it kinda feels to me like they just found the script for the movie and decided to do that. I loved everything else about this though, including Orlok's look! It feels more historical and more character-based, as well as getting away from other Dracula conventions that have become cheesy from overuse. Very happy your review is based on your experience. I feel like a lot of people just went into this with a mental checklist of things they think should be in it and no intention of having fun.
I definitely can appreciate how unique Nosferatu's look is in this film (even if I found the mustache a little distracting hehe)! When going for something new, some people can love it and some can hate it, but at least it was trying something different! I think we have a similar mentality towards viewing films - I really went in with little expectation and just wanted to see what the film brought to the table!
I think my two take aways were that he came right out and said his motivation, it was one word, but I don't want to spoil your spoil free (ish) video and two, maybe the intention of this movie is going back to the vampire as the monster. In our current world of True Blood and Twilight where the vampires are the protagonist... they weren't always. There was a time where vampire's were the monster of the movie. Thank you for your review!
Ahhh I respect your integrity to not spoil it for anyone in the comments!! But I think I know what you mean. And absolutely - though I love a good romantic vampire, I'm always interested to see more vampires that are animalistic and monstrous! Thanks for checking out my video, I really appreciate it! :)
@@softnspooky Yes! Ever since watching Interview with the Vampire (movie), I have loved the vampire as protagonist story. However, with that... it was almost refreshing (and terrifying) to see the vampire as a pure monster (and see the horror from the human characters). And I very much enjoyed your video! Im starting to work my way through your reviews!
“I can’t resist her” - Friedrich to Thomas “I can’t resist you” - Friedrich to Anna “I am an appetite nothing more” - Orlok The “villains” are subtle. Orlok is a force of nature, an appetite. He doesn’t care to spread plague or be evil he only does so as a means to an end to get to Ellen. The “villains” (not true villains) are the Dr, Friedrich, Thomas, and even Anna a little. They do not believe Ellen, they dismiss her, restrain her, deny her agency, and infantilize her. Not maliciously but because they don’t truly understand her. Ellen believes she may have evil within her because that’s what everyone around her, except Von Franz, tells her
You shoud stick to stipler movies oviously This is a film with a greater deep And the ending sticks to the original movie Sounds like you havent seen that And the Dracula storey is very mutch about sexuality This film is a masterpice im going to give you a Thuns down this is realy bad sorry
Ooooh, so now ppl who don’t absolutely hail Eggers’ Nosferatu as a masterpiece are stupid? What a dork. If you’re going to be an elitist at least have better takes. I asked the cinematheque if they saw you at the Sokurov retrospective, the Bela Tarr retrospective, Serras screening of Pacifiction, the 70mm screening of The Brutalist… and NO ONE SAW YOU THERE.
Ain't nothing wrong with going to pound town. It's extremely scientific!🫣 Nosferatu is an exceptional work of a classic legendary story retold and incredibly performed. Nothing short of phenomenal & a new horror masterpiece in cinematic folklore. Robert Eggers delivers once again. No surprise. An adventure so tense and chilling to the core, staying with you & holding you tightly. Worth the wait & absolutely revisiting, many times again. 5/5😱🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟👌 P.S Did you get that Nosferatu Popcorn bucket?😄🍿
Can't wait to see this soon! Also, love your channel.
@@arc683 ooh you’ll have to let me know what you think of it when you see it!! And awh thank you so much!! ☺️
@@softnspooky sure will! And it's my pleasure, your work is amazing.
@ wow, that is such a high compliment!! Thank you so much 🥰
16:10 wait, isn't that the plot from Darby O'Gill and the Little People? I mean, not the sex part but, ya know, keep him distracted until sunrise?
Also the plot of the original 1922 Nosferatu movie, so...
Well there's a core memory unlocked!

Happy New Year! I’d like to work on something. Robert Ebber was underrated.
Beetlejuice voice over old school nosferatu made me laugh so hard
Hahaha THANK YOU!!! Sometimes I'm editing stuff and cracking up to myself and I wonder if anybody else thinks it's funny hehe
But who was hallway? Was Nosferatu hallway??
