- Summer is right around the corner, but you know things are heating up with Pedals and Effects! I've got nothing but mad love for Malekko, but young blood Nick has never played anything by them! I had Malekko send him their latest "Downer" pedal to see if he might get hooked on Malekko. The Diabolik (shouts out to Justin Meldal-Johnsen), the Scrutator, B:Assmaster, and now Eurorack stuff? Malekko is full of mad scientists that know their stuff, and they're all homies.

0:40 It's not waveform, but wave folder. Wave form would imply a wavefrom such as a square wave is use to modulate in the input. Wave folding is really cool, big in west coast synthesis. When you saturate a signal it's like it flattens above the threshold, making it more into a square wave, but when you fold it, you invert (fold) the wave above the threshold below the threshold, creating a whole set of interesting harmonics.

i here quite a few pedals emerging nowdays that sound very similar to the crowther audio prunes and custard. the crowther audio has that analog modular fm or wavefolder sound.

check out Latent Lemon Audio in the UK. makes a spot on germ B:ASSMASTER. and a gnarly harmonic percolator.

@the3-dkiller1 a year late, but hey, this is for anyone still wondering... if this is anything like the Malekko Scrutator: about 9 o'clock om the pre-amp is the regular volume output (but beefed up, as it is a very nice pre). I use my Scrutator with keyboards and synths with no issues whatsoever, so my guess is it'll probably be fine with an active bass.

Gotta be honest, I'm fuckin loving the sounds of this pedal but I'd probably go for the Scrutator first, this dude second. Granted I'd still get em both! And the Diabolik, too...
