The OWL Multimode and Singlemode Fiber Certification Tester is great and easy to use. With the power meter you can test Single and MM, Multi Mode, fiber optic cabling for your network project. Many times in the Philadelphia and New Jersey most companies just do a light test. However....even with that basic testing you might have signal loss.
With the fiber cabling it is used in long distances from the computer room to remote locations or distances over 300ft, which you should not use CAT6 wiring. Packet loss or just general spotty transmission rates will occur if you do not have the proper connections. Fiber is actually easy to install, just most techs are not familiar with it nor do they have the proper training or tools. Bridge Cable techs are taught a system for pulling and like above, proving the strength of the signal of professional installs!

OWLs are nice testers. Got a kit a few months ago. Much more affordable than a Fluke system

Amen....for most everyday installs the OWL is a great tool. $1000 vs $12000 and up for each tech. Adds up :)
