I’ve been having this issue for years with trimmers I zero gapped myself such as the Andis Slimline Pro Li and I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Can you help?

Try using plumbers tape with the driver to fill in the gaps and turn it, if that doesn’t work you might need to get the next size up hex tool. But tbh you’d be better off trying to get new screws from eBay. I’m not sure if the size but it should be an m1.6 or m2. The screw may be a bit long but try getting the shortest length and sand it down with a pair of pliers to the correct length. Hope that helps!
