your wellcome, i was suprised my self how good it works, so i thought i need to share this :-) also everything for engraving is so expensive, but there is a very cheap solution for must of the things.
Dude, yes! It worked. So well. I was skeptical but I kept following and 2 “AHA” moments 1) was seeing the ink on the parchment and 2) seeing the graphic on my metal after peeling it away. THANK YOU!
Does this method work on rock as well? I have a silver piece that I want to inset into onyx pendant but I have to outline it onto the onyx before I carve it out.
Yep. Knew I shouldn't have passed up that metal engraving kit that was on sale last month. I realized how my cheap investments at harbor freight ain't paying off and I need to up my methods a bit. I use a Dremel set for rock engraving. Now after seeing how well you did that with the engraver got me all 🤔 Inspired.
We live and learn. I have purchased things from Harbor freight thinking I got a good deal but after a year the motors burn out or sockets snap or clamps don’t hold. Harbor freight is a great secondary resource if you need a tool for one project and never intend to use again. If you want repeat performance from a tool, always spend enough to get the quality and durability you want. I have tools in my box that I bought 30 years ago and still perform like new and I even have tools my grandfather used back in the 50s that still perform perfectly!
hello wanted to add a little something....with clear packing tape the same rice paper and pencil you can get the same effect...this way there is absolutely no chance of smudging and a layer of the tape protects against small slips and stray marks copy the art the size you want then take the clear tape fold the ends so that you can grab them press them over the penciled art and take an object taking care to go over all the lines pressing the tape into the pencil ...note the pencil will darken when the tape is pressed correctly....simply peel and resurface onto metal and use the etching tool or dremel to cut throught the tape to the metalno smudges no stray marks from tools
the tape works not so well if you use engraving tools like i do. my tools are not rotating, its like a chisle pushed in with force, that makes the tape cringe up and skip away from the surface, also the depth controll is way harder to get right with tape, since some of the lines are so thin, they are not even as deep as the tape is thick.
@@WildStyleWorks yeah you are right. i usually use the tape to get started and razor blades to carve a light outline. any suggestions on better engraving tool sets?
some advice: use avery labels. Buy the ones with the single 8.5 x 11 sticker on it, peel off the actual sticker and discard. laser print your artwork onto the glossy coated backing paper. It will loosely adhere. then iron onto the clean metal, let cool, then peel the backing off. I personally invert the image in photoshop, print it out, adhere. then i etch in the appropriate acid for just a few seconds....this leaves a permanent guide to engrave into that will not come off.
sounds very nice too, the sheets you mention are mostly teflon coated or HPDE coated paper, about the same principal as the parchment paper. etching it is a nice idea, but i wanted to keep it as simple as possible, because what to use to etch titanium, for example. and most people dont have acid at home or dont want to deal with them. a thin coat of hairpray will also protect the laser powder very good from rubbing off. i invert the print in the printer settings, just one little hook to klick onto, thats it 🙂
Thank you. Well i can do that if you want me to, but to be honest i changed my tool for a new self made 😊 i made a lindsay style air graver and it works much better, it has much more power and needs only very little air. I planed to also make a video on that one, since i also wanna sell them 😊
@@WildStyleWorks please do , share some ideas if you are able , im still doing chasing hammer and i want to switch to modern but of course no body wants to spend a lot of money in the beginning, so if you can share some ideas about the tools please do , tnx!

Anyway, while I was there I went to some local jewellery supply stores to buy tools, and they had some really amazing gravers which ignited an interest in me for adding scrollwork to unadorned areas of some of my jewellery pieces
@@sirflamedrop6165 nice, well i mostly do only engraving, no stone works my self. I will make a video soon on my gravers and will mention the astimated price there also 😊 shipping to south afrika would not be a problem, just a bit expensive. But not that bad
@@WildStyleWorks awesome! And thank you so much for responding to my comments 😋
@@sirflamedrop6165 your wellcome 😊
Try to shadow your engravings would look even nicer
Thanks, getting better by the time 😊
I couldn’t see anything because the camera wasn’t on you and the clip was very slow.
as long as you get the message what to do, thats the important
Wax surface, not oil
that allways depends on what thing you engrave 😁 i never tryed out wax, because normaly i make knives and those dont get waxed 😅
Thanks for sharing but it would be much better if you just stuck to the topic!!
???
Not here to listen to you waste time talking about a knife.
Then go somewere else, i dont care! I am not here to read your mean comment, if you want to learn something then liste, if not, click the little x on the right upper corner.
