EDIT: We’ll Update 3 is OUT! Do you think SEGA contradicted their stance on Hyper Sonic and power creep? Which one of the 3 theories I laid out do you agree with? Or do you have your own? Join the SonicHub community discord: discord.gg/NARkMTAyDV
The thing with Hyper Sonic, I always felt it could return but they needed to find a way to write in the Super Emeralds despite never seeing the light of day since S3&K. If they stuck with the idea of bringing Hyper Sonic here in Frontiers, this would've been a good time to reveal the existence of Super Emeralds for modern Sonic. Maybe with Sonic being infected by the cyber corruption, he could use it to travel to Hidden Palace Zone where the Super Emeralds come from. That'll be a good chance to play a modern version of that stage too
What if the chaos emeralds could turn into super emeralds with the power of the ancients which causes super sonic to become hyper sonic? I mean from what super sonic was saying in the final boss (the end) it feels like super sonic was asking the ancients to give him their power, what if their powers turns him into hyper sonic? We have no idea what the ancients are capable of, they might even be the creators of the chaos emeralds since the emeralds originally were in their home planet and they used them to create cyberspace and cyber energy this means there is a high chance they were the creators of the chaos emeralds and if they were then they would have complete control over the emeralds and would have the able to turn them into super emeralds, this is just a theory thocso we are not exactly sure.
@@Starfall_abyss I don't think the ancients _created_ the emeralds, since the master emerald was originally unknown to them and on Earth. But they are adept at using the emeralds and probably know more about them then anybody. But yes. I like the idea that cyber energy/the ancients' power + the chaos emeralds gives him the power to become Hyper Sonic.
@@tdog9683 They could. But I don't see why they would, if they bring back Hyper Sonic that is. Why limit themselves to only classic? They've said that classic and modern are part of the same timeline, just younger and older Sonic. So, if it were a classic thing it would become a modern thing too.
Given that SEGA is *sorta* walking back on their stance on who can turn super, at least with the Classic games by letting Amy go Super/Hyper and continuing to let Tails and Knuckles go Super/Hyper in those games, I just hope that carries over to the Modern games as well, because we don't just want only Sonic playable anymore.
@@YimYum911 I have heard they're gonna be in Superstars. Those sources better not be lying and I do wish they would flesh out the non-Sonic super forms as well. Don't give us lazy ones that just make them flash white with no hairstyle differences and unique animations! I wanna see their hair stand up and actually acknowledge the power they have by flying whenever they run (Tails actually won't have to use his tails for that). And either make them all Super Sonic's gold colour or emphasize on the colours that they mainly used to flash as (gold for Tails, pink for Knuckles and pink or rose gold for Amy). Literally, just look up "Better Super Forms" and you'll find mods for Sonic 3 A.I.R., Mania or whatever that give the characters who aren't Sonic much more fleshed-out forms and animations. I want there to be *PASSION* in these forms, dammit!
I think Sega's best attempt at a compromise without giving in to the next-tier up power creep is probably just augmenting Super Sonic. Such as using the Cyber Energy but not creating an entirely new form but giving Super Sonic enhancements that aren't in his normal repertoire. Thus he still gets the brand recongition of still being 'Super' Sonic, while not being obsolete, while the fans still get something beyond 'Normal' Super Sonic.
In regards to Darkspine Sonic he technically was never at full power as he only had 3 of the world ring in theory he’d be omnipotent in the world of Arabian nights if he had all 7
While I do understand they didn’t want Sonic to have more forms because of “what’s the point of super if Sonic has a strong transformation” but they forgot it’s Sonic, he a Thrill seeker he’d totally use Super if it meant a better challenge
I get the feeling that what they are gonna do with super forms is make it an adaptive form that can change via the environment. Sonic is linked to the chao emeralds, but we do know their are other versions of these in different dimensions(sol emeralds and super emeralds). So if sonics super forms can adapt and change based on where he is when he collects them, that would be kinda cool and would ease the power creep some.
Having this form be a one off form might be the most realistic approach and also the most disappointing since it's something we might not be able to relive in another game... BUT, SEGA is still learning and I believe that they have plans in mind for the future titles by taking examples of the things the fans like to see, such as the other one off super variants we get from previous games i.e. Darkspine, Excalibur, Hyper sonic, Dark sonic (X). And how much we all love these forms, so they're giving us a one off form that we'll be able to play but also make this a formula for games going forward. One off forms doesn't necessarily mean a power creep because they're dedicated forms to a particular situation, so its more or less just sonic adapting to defeat an opponent. that also mitigates the problem of people asking questions like "why doesn't he just use hypersonic?" Simply because its a different situation and he no longer has access to using it, so even if a form would be formidable to fight an opponent the simple lore implications could be sonic just cant use that previous form for specific reasons, allowing for the OG super sonic to be utilized for mini boss fights, like how we see in frontiers but needing to evolve one step to take down the big bad before not being able to use that go further.
This one I agree with the best. I have no idea how to explain it, but it's just fitting with Sonic. With how he's a force of nature, you can definitely see him adapting to situations where the world's free will is at stake
They better, they have a perfect way to do so that dates back to Adventure 1 with the positive and negative energy. Chaos used the negative energy and Sonic used the Positive energy so Sonic would use both to go Hyper. This can also be a way to bring Dark Sonic to the games.
@@cmineawesome1007 no because they both co exist in the emeralds. Chaos drained a massive amount of negative energy from the Chaos Emeralds leaving them colourless but Sonic was still able to use their positive energy.
@@DJBurns-jq8mn I'm pretty sure that's not what happened at all given that the major lines regarding the power of the Emeralds was "Chaos is Power. Power enriched by the Heart. The Controller is the one that unifies the Chaos". There is no "light and dark" Chaos energy. According to this. Only Chaos energy that changes based on the heart of the user.
@@espurrseyes42 the positive and negative energy are both in the Emeralds and the good or evil in someone determines what one is used. Hence, *Enriched* by the heart
@@DJBurns-jq8mn That's not what "enriched" means/implies. If there was already negative energy in the Emeralds, the energy wouldn't need "enriching". It'd just be channeled. "Enrich" implies that the energy and its properties are influenced by the user, hence the specific usage of that term. The heart of the user feeds the energy, allowing it to align itself with that user. Chaos channels it with negative emotions, and the energy is negative. Sonic channels it with positive emotion, and it's positive. Something happens that causes Sonic to become genuinely mad, a negative emotion, and the energy becomes negative, creating Dark Sonic in place of the positive Super Sonic.
I think of this more as a Kaioken x100 situation than a Super Sonic 2. Sure, he has different eye color, but that seems to be the only difference as of right now. (and even then, we all know people will mod hyper sonic over Super Sonic Kaioken x100 anyway)
People say it's super sonic 2 because he still looks like super sonic but gains blue eyes and electricity like how in dbz, ssj has turquoise eyes and ssj2 has blue eyes and electricity
I feel like there's a good chance Sonic's new "form" in Frontiers isn't so much a full on transformation on top of Super Sonic so much as it is a soft enhancement to Super Sonic. That is to say, it's probably still just Super Sonic, but with a little bit of a boost using the digital power that was previously corrupting him.
That’s what I’m thinking, the question is I guess is if it is stronger than super sonic, which would seemingly be kind of a contradiction of their Stance on hyper sonic if it is stronger
Couldn't the Wisps' hyper go-on energy make it possible for Hyper Sonic to return? I felt like that was the best case scenario for it to happen. Just because the Super Emeralds are no longer a thing, doesn't mean there can't be alternative ways to get the same form. In the Archie comics, Sonic used the Master Emerald to go Super, so why not do the same thing here? All in all, I feel like there is a way for him to return, it's just that they don't want him to.
Personally it seems like SEGA doesnt want anything to do with him, and they want to avoid the next level power trope. If a new sonic form comes it will be interesting to see because it would seemingly walk back their stance on Hyper Sonic, paving the way for him to return in the future maybe
Also Sonic COLORS being one of the most successful sonic games in a while, Sega Japan was forcing the Wisps into as many things as possible with the hopes that the "nostalgia" would carry future sonic titles that ended up being mediocre because of the addition of them.
@@SonicHubYT If they wanted to avoid that, they probably shouldn't have made Super Sonic such a common occurrence in Frontiers. I mean, it's cool having it for every boss fight, but it does lessen the overall wow factor so you would have expected a new form for the final boss. If they continue abusing Super Sonic like they did here, they're going to need to give in to the power creep to maintain the excitement of reaching the final boss.
The way I'd do it is:- -Super is the main/base super form -One-off Forms that only work under certain conditions and are specific solutions to specific villains. Can range from weaker, equal to, or slightly stronger than super - but only in their given scenario. They cannot replace super. And due to this you can make as many as you need to without issue, as long as you can't just use it whenever. (Dark-Spine, Wisper Form etc.) -Enhanced Supers; this is essentially superform but with some kind of temporary/limited buff from an external source (e.g. Rage or Despair for Dark Form that grants a deadly temporary boost at cost of stamina/vitality - so it's not a permanent form that could replace Super; and Cyber Sonic which is super form with cyberspace buff - only works within cyberspace). These are either slightly more powerful than Super or are the same but with a completely different moveset. Largely follows same principle as the one offs, although these make sense to return in other games if they make sense gameplay wise or narratively. -Hyper; the final form characters can achieve. Maybe they can gain some enhancements like cyber power, or removing inhibitor rings etc. but all within the same boss fight and without changing forms. This is the end. Gameplay wise; it should only be in games that already feature multiple super sonic (or other form boss fights) where simple enhancements like cyber form, or team ups like SA2 or 06 can't resolve. Hyper would be final escalation of the power level. Narratively, it should be seen as a last resort too. There should be a lot of work for the cast to be able to unlock it, and there should be a risk to using it (collateral damage, dimensional tears etc.) so there's no reason for them to just seek this form out straight away. I think if they stick to these rules, and leave Hyper Form Transformations for only the biggest titles (e.g. SA3 level), it should work.
We need hyper sonic for a specific game/final boss. This boss would have to be stronger than Solaris, so multiversal+ in destructive power. Maybe we could have Super Sonic defeat this boss in his own universe, but after the fight the gang realizes that this being is beyond time itself. Knuckles then gets reminded of the Super Emeralds, and the quest to gather them or upgrade the chaos emeralds starts. Hyper Sonic comes into play, and he is able to destroy this multiversal being alone which can be the "endgame" for Sonic's power transformations. Super Sonic can handle universal threats, Hyper would be able to deal with multiversal threats.
I've always wanted Hyper Sonic as a completion bonus. Super Sonic was the story bonus and Hyper is the 95%/100%/All S rank bonus. Like, sup mate. You kinda just did everything. There isn't anything else more to do. Here, have this totally rad bonus that has no effect on the game records (thus isn't cannon) and thank you for playing.
The "alternate dimension" excuse is being overused. "Blaze is from an alternate dimension" "Classic Sonic is from an alternate dimension" "The Super Emeralds are from an alternate dimension" Come on, the Super Emeralds being cracked in Mania was a good enough explanation, they don't need to add "oh that's from an alternate universe" as well.
I think the reason sega didn't bring back hypersonic is because he is way too POWERFUL and his strength might cause more competition with forms from things like dragonball.
I think we are seeing the scenario Ian Flynn described wherein they carefully avoid the dangers of power creep. If Hyper Sonic was ever going to have an excuse to return, now is that time. Otherwise, it's being disingenuous to say "Hyper might return if there's a threat large enough" when everyone saying that knows Sonic will never face a threat grave enough. Solaris had to be taken out by THREE super forms. Sonic is the lone hero in Frontiers, he doesn't have friends that can help. You can argue Sage, but all she can do it pilot Supreme, which didn't even work last time. Then you can say "well this time Supreme has Super Sonic", yeah well last time three _other_ titans where there that aren't there _this_ time. So, it may be a wash, if not behind, if you consider Super Sonic to be as powerful as 1 titan, we are still behind by 2 titans. Either way, Sega must at least be walking back their objections to Hyper Sonic since they added this "new form" that builds on Super Sonic. The other one-off forms were instead-of Super Sonic, this one is _specifically_ "one-step-beyond". So, your scenario 3 seems unlikely. And just a "new move" or "slight power boost" seems really lame. All the hype for update 3 for just a new move that's the same concept as whenever Sonic gets new moves from absorbing the "cyber cages" around his friends? Why would that even have needed to get cut from the base game? Your scenario 1 also seems unlikely. Not saying Hyper Sonic _will_ be in Frontiers, but this is a glimmer of hope. And I also really want Hyper Sonic back.
Frontiers really is the perfect place to put him. It's a game where every major boss is already Super, so it makes sense to scale beyond that for the finale similar to how previous games has normal Sonic fight the bosses and then Super on the last boss. It's also centered around the people who first brought the Chaos Emeralds to Earth, if there was ever a way to upgrade the emeralds or draw additional power out of them without the Master Emerald on Angel Island, it would be on the Starfall Islands where the people who brought them to the planet lived. There is also that Origins did release somewhat recently, so it's pushed Hyper back more firmly into the minds of players. I see the glimmer of hope and the perfect set up for him, but I must admit I'm quite jaded; I'm expecting this to just be a non-Hyper upgrade to Super Sonic that can't be replicated elsewhere because of specific factors... Which would be cool I'll admit but not as cool as much as it would be a letdown and a wasted opportunity to throw us a bone.
About the new form in Frontiers,i don't really think it is going to be an actual "new form",it will rather be a power up for Super Sonic. You know how in the story Sonic could get stronger by absorbing the cyber energy but that would lead to corrupt him? Maybe that is what is happening here. To ultimately defeat the end he might have to seal him in cyberspace so Sonic transform into super form, absorbs all of the energy in cyberspace and use it to seal the end back in the cyberspace, and since Sonic is in his super form the corruption may not effect him at all. It is probably going to be a stronger super Sonic but also a one time thing just like in Black Knight and Secret rings
Firstly, I think it's an outright alternate SUPER SONIC, not an alternative form or power up. I wholeheartedly agree with the Hyper Sonic stance though, yours and Sega's. At best, I think Hyper Sonic and the Super Emeralds should be dimensional counterparts of Super Sonic and the Chaos Emeralds; more wild and unsustainable versions of the two that have more overt power but not greater strength and lower sustainability. Secondly, I'm going to go off on a bit of a tangent below. Feel free to ignore it. Still don't buy the whole "Oh, Solaris is actually the strongest enemy because LELS" nonsense. Yes, Solaris needed three Super Forms to beat, but EACH, yes, EACH, Solaris was still fallible to a single Super Form, and the very reason that many were even needed is outright CONTRADICTED by the game EXPLICITLY stating and showing that the TRUE Solaris was killable by the very method that Final Story Solaris was explicitly immune to (being blown out in the past, when even one Final Boss Solaris remaining would render any attempt to kill him moot) effectively all but saying that the power FSS had IS NOT Solaris innate power but rather due to the Chaos Emeralds. Not to mention that THE END literally IS the very nothingness that time would have collapsed into had Solaris succeeded, as well as the fact that the form it's fought in is just AN INCARNATION and one of many at that! Seriously, where does Ian get that "Solaris > THE END" nonsense from? Because it sure as heck is not from anything actually shown in ANY canon material!
Fr , that annoys me too , only reason Solaris needed three super forms to be beat was because of the whole "existing at three different points of time at the same time " thing and Solaris can be killed , THE END needed Super Sonic plus the Titan to be beat and even then is not really a "victory" since The End is literally the avatar of a concept that exist within the universe and guess what , that makes the End essentially unkillable .Thought i say that in the game the End doesn't feels as powerful as he is supposed to be , but i think update 3 Will solve that (hopefully)
Much as I love Hyper Sonic and want him to return, I'm not naive. There is presidence for this. The Storybook games both featured unique new forms that are likely stronger than SS. Excalibur Sonic is pretty much just Super with armor and a legendary sword and Darkspine is basically a super pissed off and brutal Super like Dark Super. The thing is, they are very unlikely to come back, because in both cases the items that let Sonic transform are very hard to obtain. It's like the Blaze and Silver problem but worse, similarly the Rings and Swords are in a couple different dimensions. This will likely be a similar case, not something Sonic can only find in another dimension, but a stronger form of SS that he could only attain due to the specific events of Frontiers: The Final Horizon.
After playing the DLC, my initial thought is that the new transformation can be considered a 'state of being' or a specialized technique layered atop his Super form. Enabling him to accomplish extraordinary feats that would typically be out of reach for his capabilities normally. Of course, this is just me saying "Oh it's similar to how Goku awakened SSGSS by stacking his God Ki on Super Saiyan!" For example, but I'm sure I could've given a more sincere thought process, or explanation than what's written above.
The sheer determination to dodge power creep is admirable...except they've pretty much followed the right steps to avoid powercreep. Hyper is something that appeared for one game decades ago; a fever dream, and we've seen Super Sonic kick ass a lot of times. Not even kidding, Frontiers has made Super Sonic shine and given that he's been a last resort item for multiple games...the status of super sonic has been established. The addition of Hyper Sonic doesn't change that, and will not be some last minute crutch item that could be reliably called upon. The Super Emeralds, residing in other dimensions, would not be so easily accessible and not readily available. Sonic also has to sacrifice his ability to become Super Sonic, its a form with many risks in just collecting the emeralds. It more then balances Super Sonic becoming second fiddle to the next best thing when Sonic can't reliably enter other dimensions for hyper, and also if the need is so great that he'd risk Super Sonic in order to begin the collecting process. I think they can bring him back, and supposing they'd do they'd easily make gaming history.
Why cant Hyper be the true super form but it takes so much power it's can only be used once every good few years. Like a battery, its being drained every time its used. Maybe the emeralds felt a doomday event so they flew to the islands to recharge
In the leaked subtitles, it revealled that the towers on rhea will have sonic learn to convert his cyber corruption energy into power from the ancients that piloted the titans. This form is likely just that power combined with super
I think Cyber Super Sonic (that's what I personally call him) is a one off. It was borrowed power from Master King Koco after all, not Sonics own power. It's a huge pity too because Cyber Super Sonics Grand Slam against the End is so wicked and cool.
I think the best name for the new update no.3 for sonic frontiers should be smth like cyber sonic but then he would need a unique form so smth like cyber sonic would work but referring to a blue super sonic glitch could be the new colour cyan and glitchy, so hopefully someone relates to this
I personally dont really want hyper sonic to come back. I feel like they should just expand on super sonic instead of adding more but its fine if people want it back
@@IchigoKurosakitheSalvation this is not what Editor was talking about in the slightest 💀 They meant that they should give Super Sonic some time to grow. We don’t know everything super sonic can do. But I think he should come back temporarily.
Super and Hyper Sonic are W character designs for Sonic. It's also like common that we get more Super Sonic than Hyper Sonic. I mean they do need them to walk back to Hyper, because it is pretty rare that we see his hyper form. Still it would be nice to go back to him and they both are W designs and belong in the S tier. And your Channel and Content, Chris also belongs in the S tier cause you're my favorite RUclipsr! W Video!!
I mean really, why not say "Knuckles don't want Sonic using his Master Emerald to go Hyper", cause lets be real if you super charge the Chaos Emeralds using the Master Emerald, they will also become Super Emeralds and the whole dimension Hidden Palace Zone thing won't matter...
At the end of the day this topic is getting so much traffic...... But some of us just want tails and knuckles to get legitimate superforms.. lol....Why is no one asking sega about this?
I will be so happy and i bet that all of the sonic fans will be happy if we saw sonic having new transformations in games, comics, shows,etc... thats gonna be WAY PAST COOL!!
Sega could introduce new variants of Sonic Forms for specific matchups if their trying to make Super Sonic stand out. Something that I could see happen is Sonic being able to transform using a single Chaos Emerald.
I agree with your third theory. I want them to keep making Super Sonic cooler with each game, and if they’re wanting to make a new form, I just don’t want it to be stronger than Super Sonic and it should be a one-off form that Sonic only goes into in the one game due to the circumstances of the story. If Hyper Sonic were to continually be used throughout future games in the series, it would remove Super Sonic’s importance, and could be known as a “less cool and powerful Hyper Sonic.” Sonic is already pretty strong on his own and has been able to defeat past enemies in base form that he fought as Super Sonic in the game they debuted in, so another form that’s stronger than Super Sonic would just turn him into an unstoppable monster, which would limit the possibilities of threats that they could create for Sonic by a wide margin. Sonic also could very easily get access to the Master Emerald and use it to supercharge the Chaos Emeralds into the Super Emeralds, thus allowing him to transform into Hyper Sonic, which again, removes the need and importance of Super Sonic, and what makes him special.
Have in mind that according to Sega the Chaos Emeralds have limitless power. That means Super Sonic could potentially be as powerful as he wants. Perhaps the Blue Eyes with Lightning Super Sonic can be a stronger Super Sonic utilizing more power of the Emeralds.
Honestly, when the trailers were coming out, it felt like Hyper Sonic was practically a guarantee. With the connection between the Starfall Islands and Angel Island we saw in the animated Knuckles trailer, they definitely could’ve explained it as the technology needed to create the Super Emeralds came from the ancient civilization of the Starfall Islands, and there were just enough resources left over on the islands to recreate the Super Emeralds one last time (and then maybe have them break like we saw in Sonic Origins just to prove a point that “yes, we let you have Hyper Sonic one more time, now stop asking.”)
With the Chaos Emeralds and Super Sonic now usually being a part of the story, rather than something you have to go out of your way to get, it might be worthwhile to reimplement the optional Special Stages as a way to power up the Emeralds. If you power them all up, you get access to Hyper Sonic freely, in the overworld and stages, as well as in the final boss. Maybe give it some type of reward, also, like it not consuming rings in the final boss anymore. I don't know, this is all just off the top of my head, but I'm sure a dedicated game design team could figure it out with time.
A way to write in Hyper sonic and how it's almost never been seen is super easy. It's just an absolute pain to get the super emeralds. You need all 7 Chaos emeralds AND the master emerald near each other, which very rarely happens. Then (using dialogue from SA1) the statement from Tikal claiming that Chaos is power Enriched by the heart and that you have to unify it to truly master it can just be utilised in the way of Sonic needing to use both the positive and negative energy of the chaos emeralds which (in cannon) he has only used the positive thus far.
Would love more than anything to believe this will make a comeback as maybe then Knuckles and co can get some transformations too, but not holding my breath.
My biggest wish with this new form since cyber space mixes blue and red would be somewhat mixing these two colors a bit more, since so far all I could see was a red aura and blue eyes, maybe have blue and red light reflect off his quills, have his eye colors change back and forth between red and blue or have heterochromia, even have blue lightning mixed with that red aura since that could add to that sense of strength and duality of this cyber space form, since a different colored aura and new eyes doesn't seem grand enough to me.
My headcanon is when Sonic and Knuckles went Hyper in S3&K, the strain it placed on their bodies nearly killed them. That’s why they don’t tap into that much Chaos energy again.
Here's the thing, they could bring back Hyper but they can also maintain their whole it is in another dimension thing. Maybe removing it for too long collapses the dimension and affects others or something?
Or... maybe it's just axtra abilities from the corruption. Like all the extra abilities he learns in game that he kinda never used before or had. Some are like upgraded versions of his older abilities. Maybe it's just an upgrade since he got some cyberspace corruption. OOOOOO what if they add a new song too?!?! YESSS!!!
I have a feeling that Sonic's new form isn't going to be like SSJ2...but more like a SSJ Kaioken concept. Imagine the cyber powerup being usable without super form, and then just being stacked on during the boss.
Well they can make story where he goes to chaos demension and there the chaos emerald can spread around and become super emerald and it can still keep the canon intact cause chaos demension is never been explore and it can also help to expand the lore of master emerald
They never had issues with giving Sonic alternate forms in other pieces of Sonic media. Darkspine, Ultra Sonic, Excalibur Sonic, Werehog Sonic, Dark Super Sonic etc.. Theres no reason why it should be non canon along with the Super forms for Knuckles and Tails.
I would love for hyper to show up but keep it in its own little box, only have it show up for special events for in cannon story and/or have it be end game events that are not cannon.
I think the major thing that differentiates this from Hyper Sonic is that it appears to be purely circumstantial as a power up. If theories are right and this power up is Sonic properly harnessing the cyber energy, then it means that this will probably be the only time he ever uses it. On the other hand there's hyper Sonic, who is made from the super emeralds, which are made from the chaos emeralds. Which then begs the question: If Sonic has the chaos emeralds and can go super, why not just skip a level and go hyper instead? Personally, I think there's a perfectly good middle ground to be had here and that's to make Hyper Sonic just be something that Sonic really doesn't like and/or refuses to use. The way I'd go about it would be something like this: Super Sonic is what comes from Sonic harnessing the positive energy of the emeralds, but in order for him to go hyper he needs to use ALL of the emeralds' energy. To do this, he needs to harness the negative energy as well and achieve some kind of equilibrium. Sonic could just hate using the form because trying to balance all of that negative energy with positive energy can take a serious toll on his mental state. Maybe Hyper Sonic lacks a lot of the sass and personality that Sonic is known for, with him instead being stoic to the point of emotionlessness. He would just be a machine, brought out to complete a task but lacking all of Sonic's usual charm and empathy. This could be a valid justification for why he COULD do it, but would rather not. Hyper Sonic could then be delegated for rare moments where Sonic absolutely needs its power and can't skimp out on going the extra mile to see the job done.
This "form" shown in the trailer looks to me like Sonic somehow found a way to use Power Boost while in Super Sonic (which should be impossible, given their conflicting nature, but I dunno maybe enough cyberspace corruption can break down even that rule)
Me personally I have 2 theroies 1: the power up shown in the trailer is like sonic stacking the cyber energy on his super form kinda like kaioken can stack with super sayain in dbz 2: it's sonics super form evolving going off the idea sonicis getting stronger over the course of the games and so the slight change in form reflects that
they could add hyper sonic by making it super hard to get at least in universe and has a big draw back something like that an example being that sonic would have to do some sort of ritual after going to hidden palace that would take time so they would not be able to use the power up on the go more like a last resort when sonic has lost and nothing can get much worse, or if sonic knowns about a fight and uses it prepare, hyper sonic could also drain energy from sonic until kicking him out leaving him defenseless or something along those lines
they could do it where hyper sonic is only used if super sonic isnt enough that would make sense because otherwise they are basically saying super sonic has a power scaling of infinite potential, making hyper sonic useless just make hyper sonic only used on specific games, like something stronger than solaris
Sure, they want to avoid power creep, however, if Hyper-Sonic is a fan favourite you should add it. You could do something like it's super hard to something like this happen, I don't know just as an example you would need Super Sonic, Super Shadow and Super Silver to combine and also to use the master emerald energy to get Hyper-Sonic or something like that, and have that for the important anniversaries only, like the past 35th years, maybe for the 45th or 50th. That I think would keep both forms being important
It's probably Sega testing the Next Power Level trope and they're probably gonna make Super Sonic stronger while increasing the speed at which players lose rings, so, instead of 1-2 seconds lost every second, maybe 4-5 rings lost every second
It seems sonic'a new super form is using his cyber corrption combined with his ring power. Since when he collects enough rings his eyes glow blue in the same manner
i never played the old sonic games or the new modern game but i saw that form in a fan made animation nazo vs shadic :U it's been like 6+ plus since i watched that video i think i will go back to re watch it
I think the best thing you can do for Hyper Sonic is, make is so the only time you get it is when you are doing something super sonic is capable of doing but Hyper Sonic can do it easier, there should never be an obstacle that Hyper Sonic can take down but Super Sonic can not. Hyper Sonic can be the reward for going out of your way while Super Sonic is the the default story power up.
What Sonic could be doing is stacking the Cyber Energy that originally corrupted him and using it to boost his Super Form. With this additional boost in energy allowing him to access the full power that the form can provide without draining himself too much and instantly ending the transformation. Why do I think this is just an improvement to Super Sonic? Because Sonic's eyes turn blue similar to when you gain the power boost from reaching full ring capacity. Meaning this Super Sonic could be at the same power as the normal one. But because of the Cyber Energy. He doesn't lose rings.
the one thing i really want to argue on is how hyper sonic isn’t a stronger power up, it’s an *achievement; a manifestation of growth.* you’re not the same person wandering into the game once you’ve adorned that ethereal rainbow of chaos! i do get how this wouldn’t translate as well to more story based games, but while the form that means more is stronger, there’s no point in a strong form that means nothing. it isn’t a tool for sonic to use, it’s a sign of what sonic can do if he puts his heart to it; and he can do a lot, hence the strength. super sonic is the application. the test. putting what you’ve learned playing the game to the test, and getting serious.
if it isnt a power scale thing, though it basically is, it might be a version of dark super from sonic X, it was a corrupted form after all. however, in terms of a lore based reason for hyper to return, the only thing i can think of that actually makes sense would be an enemy so strong it take over and corrupts or utterly destroys the master emerald and all of its energy becomes unstable, leading the chaos emeralds or master emerald itself to harness the scattered energy or somehow boost the emeralds as a last ditch effort to save the master emerald and keep everything from ending. apparently chaos energy is extremely strong and still hsnt been shown to have real limits if it even has any limits, so an unstable or completely unleashed energy not being regulated by the master emerald would likely need the most powerful form possible to deal with that. the issue with super in a lot of cases is he is very over used, even though i like him as a character he shows up and its just for the end fight, and he has always had inconsistant power, examples being sonic 3 (somehow got knocked out of the form by knuckles, maybe with help from the master emerald), or the fact that in frontiers he gets knokced out of the form multiple times even though he isnt supposed to be vulnerable to any form of damage, and since adventure 2 weve had shadow with a super form, 06 gave silver a super form, and now amy has a super form as well which is cool, but unimpressive at this point because it takes 3 super form headgehogs to deal with solaris, but hyper which can likely move at light speed would have likely been so fast and strong it could destroy solaris by itself even able to travel through time. I have always made the arguement that shadow claims to be the ultimate life form, but he was based on the hidden palace mural, and though he does have graeater control of the chaos powers, sonic is the only character to have multiple forms including an unofficial transformation in the dark super sonic from sonic X,and hyper would basically would make him absolutely unstoppable as as he gains the chaos abilities shadow can use but its even greater. the hyper flash is basically chaos control pushed to an even stronger degree.
i mean they said there wouldnt be any possible way for hyper sonic to return cause it was in a different dimension , but in sonic forces infinite sent your cac and sonic to null space which is technically another dimension. c mon sonic team if you can pull some half-assed sh*t like that, then you can sure as hell find a way to have sonic enter that dimension and use hyper sonic again
It would be amazing if supreme was made to be a better titan, not just a giganto 2 and then you fought supreme as hyper sonic with “I’m here” playing in the background
my head cannon is that after the events of S3K the Super Emeralds had to use their power to help restore Angle Island back into the sky and thus become Chaos emeralds again. Not the official story but it works in my head. Hyper Sonic was a great power up though.
Sonic Hypermix, a theroretical fangame idea that only has super emeralds because the story is that eggman was looking for a Alternitive to chaos emeralds, until he found a temple which has a Special Relic that contained a beast that is so strong, not even the power of the chaos emeralds would even stop it, thats why the chaos Emeralds transformed into super emeralds in the special stages, now sonic has to Save Eggman from the Eternal Lord's trap... Zones 1) Grand Garden Zone 2) Barista Badlands Zone 3) Seabreeze Sanctuary Zone 4) Musical Metro Zone 5) Dubious Depths Zone 6) Artic Ark Zone 7) Fallen Factory Zone 8) Tetonic Temple Zone EX) Hyper Highlight Zone
While many can debate in this, Lego Dimensions technically brought back Hyper Sonic last I remembered since if you went Super and hit the Invincibility box you had the same colors as Hyper
Would you agree that it's thanks to the animated fan film by Chakra-X, "Nazo Unleashed" that Hyper Sonic, as well as Hyper Shadow, Super Knuckles and Tails are to this day still all rather popular, loved, and well remembered by fans?
EDIT: We’ll Update 3 is OUT! Do you think SEGA contradicted their stance on Hyper Sonic and power creep?
Which one of the 3 theories I laid out do you agree with? Or do you have your own?

Hi
Sonic hub has the w!!
Hi
I agree with more the 3rd theory.
I think he'll be more powerful than super sonic but he'll be a one-off form so that super sonic isnt gonna be less special
That'll be a good chance to play a modern version of that stage too
Frontiers really could have been an appropriate game for something like Hyper Sonic to return if the story wasn't rushed and fully fleshed out
What if the chaos emeralds could turn into super emeralds with the power of the ancients which causes super sonic to become hyper sonic?
The super emeralds were in mania. They could just make it a classic sonic thing
Remember, Superstars officially made tails knuckles and Amy’s super forms cannon!
Egg man super
I agree
Did Knukles and Tails not go super in Heroes? Or am miss remembering?
I think Sega's best attempt at a compromise without giving in to the next-tier up power creep is probably just augmenting Super Sonic. Such as using the Cyber Energy but not creating an entirely new form but giving Super Sonic enhancements that aren't in his normal repertoire.
Thus he still gets the brand recongition of still being 'Super' Sonic, while not being obsolete, while the fans still get something beyond 'Normal' Super Sonic.
If Dragon Ball can have Super Saiyan 2, Sonic can have Super Sonic 2 :P
This seems like the most likely scenario to explain the leaked cinematic.
Wouldn’t the positive energy of the emeralds cancel out the negative energy?
@@cmineawesome1007 no because they both co exist in the emeralds. Chaos drained a massive amount of negative energy from the Chaos Emeralds leaving them colourless but Sonic was still able to use their positive energy.
@@DJBurns-jq8mn
I'm pretty sure that's not what happened at all given that the major lines regarding the power of the Emeralds was "Chaos is Power.
@@DJBurns-jq8mn
That's not what "enriched" means/implies.
I call it the Cyberken. Cyber Kaioken.
That’s what I’m thinking, the question is I guess is if it is stronger than super sonic, which would seemingly be kind of a contradiction of their Stance on hyper sonic if it is stronger
@@SonicHubYT It's possible that rather than making Super Sonic "stronger" it might give him some kind of new ability that's got a specific usefulness.
@@Crow_Rising I think thats what well see...well find out in a few hours though!
@@Crow_Risingsuper sonic 2
The way I'd do it is:-
-Super is the main/base super form
-One-off Forms that only work under certain conditions and are specific solutions to specific villains. Can range from weaker, equal to, or slightly stronger than super - but only in their given scenario. They cannot replace super. And due to this you can make as many as you need to without issue, as long as you can't just use it whenever. (Dark-Spine, Wisper Form etc.)
-Enhanced Supers; this is essentially superform but with some kind of temporary/limited buff from an external source (e.g.
I mean, technically super sonic 2 is just using cyber power with super sonic, not an upgraded form
"Blaze is from an alternate dimension" "Classic Sonic is from an alternate dimension"
"The Super Emeralds are from an alternate dimension"
Come on, the Super Emeralds being cracked in Mania was a good enough explanation, they don't need to add "oh that's from an alternate universe" as well.
I think the reason sega didn't bring back hypersonic is because he is way too POWERFUL and his strength might cause more competition with forms from things like dragonball.
well he's already stronger than dragonball characters so..
Good point.@@x7Emeralds
I actually love these animations, they are so unique and adorable. I’m honestly a huge fan!
It has been a whole 29 years since sonic 3 and knuckles came out and I really hope it's theory 2.
Bro ngl they would ONLY need to add hyper sonic only when mario beats them
About the new form in Frontiers,i don't really think it is going to be an actual "new form",it will rather be a power up for Super Sonic.
Isn't the main reason why Hyper Sonic hasn't come back simply because now the Super Emeralds turned to stone?

Sega: Sonic will go Hyper again when Shadow dies
Fans: Shadow’s immortal
Sega: *EXACTLY*
I’m so happy that hyper sonic might come back nice video sonic hub!
I feel like it's like Sonic mixing his Boosted state from getting max rings with Super Sonic due to the blue eyes and electricity.
Why cant Hyper be the true super form but it takes so much power it's can only be used once every good few years. Like a battery, its being drained every time its used. Maybe the emeralds felt a doomday event so they flew to the islands to recharge
Simple solution to make hyper sonic cannon while keeping super sonic useable, just make hyper sonic alomst destroy the chaos emeralds if used
personally id like to see darkspine sonic make a comeback
In the leaked subtitles, it revealled that the towers on rhea will have sonic learn to convert his cyber corruption energy into power from the ancients that piloted the titans. This form is likely just that power combined with super
I think Cyber Super Sonic (that's what I personally call him) is a one off. It was borrowed power from Master King Koco after all, not Sonics own power. It's a huge pity too because Cyber Super Sonics Grand Slam against the End is so wicked and cool.
I'm just gonna say that the fact super sonic is in MULTIPLE BOSSES means that the end feels boring cuz it's the SIXTH TIME
Yeah the super sonic boss fights were dope but get progressively less exciting to me
I think the best name for the new update no.3 for sonic frontiers should be smth like cyber sonic but then he would need a unique form so smth like cyber sonic would work but referring to a blue super sonic glitch could be the new colour cyan and glitchy, so hopefully someone relates to this
Maybe this new form is like Super Sonic using the Cyber as a defense against Supreme.
I personally dont really want hyper sonic to come back. I feel like they should just expand on super sonic instead of adding more but its fine if people want it back

I always thought they didn't bring hyper sonic back because epilepsy concerns
I don't know, this is all just off the top of my head, but I'm sure a dedicated game design team could figure it out with time.
i actually like this video a lot, good job
Aye thank you
A way to write in Hyper sonic and how it's almost never been seen is super easy.
It could be just an evolution for Super Sonic
My headcanon is when Sonic and Knuckles went Hyper in S3&K, the strain it placed on their bodies nearly killed them. That’s why they don’t tap into that much Chaos energy again.
Here's the thing, they could bring back Hyper but they can also maintain their whole it is in another dimension thing. Maybe removing it for too long collapses the dimension and affects others or something?
"We wont bring back Hyper Sonic......but here's Darkspine Sonic, Excalibur Sonic, Prismatic Sonic, and a werehog!"
Or... maybe it's just axtra abilities from the corruption. Like all the extra abilities he learns in game that he kinda never used before or had. Some are like upgraded versions of his older abilities. Maybe it's just an upgrade since he got some cyberspace corruption. OOOOOO what if they add a new song too?!?! YESSS!!!
When I was in a cutscene with knuckles in the desert I SAW THE PURPLE SUPER EMERALD
I have a feeling that Sonic's new form isn't going to be like SSJ2...but more like a SSJ Kaioken concept. Imagine the cyber powerup being usable without super form, and then just being stacked on during the boss.
From what I gathered from the Datamined script and the trailer people are looking way WAAAAY to deep into it,
this could be a small bridge to the archie comics sonic, super sonic using chaos control.
I like the idea of keeping the super forms for the hedgehogs so it doesnt lose its value.
Raise your hand if you first saw Hyper Sonic in Nazo Unleashed.
I would love for hyper to show up but keep it in its own little box, only have it show up for special events for in cannon story and/or have it be end game events that are not cannon.
Let's be honest here, the canon of Sonic is already messed up even Game Apologist couldn't handle it back in his Hyper Sonic matters video.
I think the new form isn’t necessarily a new form but rather just a power up for Super Sonic to give him the power he needs to defeat the end
The way I'd go about it would be something like this:
Super Sonic is what comes from Sonic harnessing the positive energy of the emeralds, but in order for him to go hyper he needs to use ALL of the emeralds' energy.
This "form" shown in the trailer looks to me like Sonic somehow found a way to use Power Boost while in Super Sonic (which should be impossible, given their conflicting nature, but I dunno maybe enough cyberspace corruption can break down even that rule)
it could just be a different variation, one imbued with cyber energy that is able to more effectively fight this new final antagonist
Me personally I have 2 theroies
1: the power up shown in the trailer is like sonic stacking the cyber energy on his super form kinda like kaioken can stack with super sayain in dbz
2: it's sonics super form evolving going off the idea sonicis getting stronger over the course of the games and so the slight change in form reflects that
they could add hyper sonic by making it super hard to get at least in universe and has a big draw back something like that an example being that sonic would have to do some sort of ritual after going to hidden palace that would take time so they would not be able to use the power up on the go more like a last resort when sonic has lost and nothing can get much worse, or if sonic knowns about a fight and uses it prepare, hyper sonic could also drain energy from sonic until kicking him out leaving him defenseless or something along those lines
they could do it where hyper sonic is only used if super sonic isnt enough
that would make sense because otherwise they are basically saying super sonic has a power scaling of infinite potential, making hyper sonic useless
just make hyper sonic only used on specific games, like something stronger than solaris
I feel the power-uo might be something relativley close to going super sonic + all the whisps absorbed.
It's probably Sega testing the Next Power Level trope and they're probably gonna make Super Sonic stronger while increasing the speed at which players lose rings, so, instead of 1-2 seconds lost every second, maybe 4-5 rings lost every second
I think it’s the same as a lot of the other games. They have always give new forms for different games. We have a werewolf sonic for example.
It seems sonic'a new super form is using his cyber corrption combined with his ring power. Since when he collects enough rings his eyes glow blue in the same manner
i never played the old sonic games or the new modern game but i saw that form in a fan made animation nazo vs shadic :U
it's been like 6+ plus since i watched that video i think i will go back to re watch it
I think the best thing you can do for Hyper Sonic is, make is so the only time you get it is when you are doing something super sonic is capable of doing but Hyper Sonic can do it easier, there should never be an obstacle that Hyper Sonic can take down but Super Sonic can not.
Hyper Sonic can be the reward for going out of your way while Super Sonic is the the default story power up.
A truly good question man.
I mean… I’d say you’d need to collect and have 1000 rings and the chaos emeralds to open up a secret boss where you’re hyper sonic
He doesn't lose rings.
the sonic form in sonic prime i think should be called prismatic sonic
the one thing i really want to argue on is how hyper sonic isn’t a stronger power up, it’s an *achievement; a manifestation of growth.*
you’re not the same person wandering into the game once you’ve adorned that ethereal rainbow of chaos!
i do get how this wouldn’t translate as well to more story based games, but while the form that means more is stronger, there’s no point in a strong form that means nothing. it isn’t a tool for sonic to use, it’s a sign of what sonic can do if he puts his heart to it; and he can do a lot, hence the strength.
super sonic is the application. the test. putting what you’ve learned playing the game to the test, and getting serious.
if it isnt a power scale thing, though it basically is, it might be a version of dark super from sonic X, it was a corrupted form after all.
however, in terms of a lore based reason for hyper to return, the only thing i can think of that actually makes sense would be an enemy so strong it take over and corrupts or utterly destroys the master emerald and all of its energy becomes unstable, leading the chaos emeralds or master emerald itself to harness the scattered energy or somehow boost the emeralds as a last ditch effort to save the master emerald and keep everything from ending.
apparently chaos energy is extremely strong and still hsnt been shown to have real limits if it even has any limits, so an unstable or completely unleashed energy not being regulated by the master emerald would likely need the most powerful form possible to deal with that.
the issue with super in a lot of cases is he is very over used, even though i like him as a character he shows up and its just for the end fight, and he has always had inconsistant power, examples being sonic 3 (somehow got knocked out of the form by knuckles, maybe with help from the master emerald), or the fact that in frontiers he gets knokced out of the form multiple times even though he isnt supposed to be vulnerable to any form of damage, and since adventure 2 weve had shadow with a super form, 06 gave silver a super form, and now amy has a super form as well which is cool, but unimpressive at this point because it takes 3 super form headgehogs to deal with solaris, but hyper which can likely move at light speed would have likely been so fast and strong it could destroy solaris by itself even able to travel through time.
Honestly, im pretty sure people only started wanting hyper back, despite it being a one off form, because it appeared in Nazo Unleashed.
i mean they said there wouldnt be any possible way for hyper sonic to return cause it was in a different dimension , but in sonic forces infinite sent your cac and sonic to null space which is technically another dimension. c mon sonic team if you can pull some half-assed sh*t like that, then you can sure as hell find a way to have sonic enter that dimension and use hyper sonic again
It would be amazing if supreme was made to be a better titan, not just a giganto 2 and then you fought supreme as hyper sonic with “I’m here” playing in the background
I swear and want to believe hyper Sonic makes a return in frontiers update around the end of this month
my head cannon is that after the events of S3K the Super Emeralds had to use their power to help restore Angle Island back into the sky and thus become Chaos emeralds again.
