First, I need to say that each of y’all are important, way more important than these K-pop idols and K drama idols. Remember that. Many of y’all are still young and won’t understand the message I’m about to give, but for those of us who are adults I need you to read this and take this shit to heart. As Black women, we’re forced to be at the bottom of the dating pool, and we all feel it, which can lead many of us to seek attention from those who might not otherwise be attracted to us. This can lead to idolizing people who don’t prefer us, and we may even deny this truth and criticize each other for acknowledging it. For some, this has become like a game-there’s excitement in chasing someone who you wouldn’t expect to be attracted to you, and when some of us win that chase, it lights that fire of obsession to have it for yourself. So we become fixated on these interactions to the point of reaching. Many of us black women who idolize, are on the autism spectrum, where idolizing things is common. Whether it’s boy bands, romance novels, films, or fantasy books, it’s usually harmless. But it becomes an issue when we start to feel desperate, delusional, or obsessive about people whose celebrity crushes are often white women and now mixed women with white mothers. This isn’t to say there aren’t exceptions-there are K-pop idols or K-drama stars who might be open to dating Black women. But, let’s be honest: most are influenced by European beauty standards, and many seek partners in places like Russia rather than Africa. Their celebrity crushes are usually white women, often ten times out of ten, and sometimes nine out of ten. Let’s not forget the cultural and parental biases against Black women and men when dating. South Korea has a lot to learn. Just because we sometimes see Black women with Korean partners online doesn’t mean your idols would do the same. It’s considered so “unique” in Korea that they put it on television shows with absolute curiosity. And whenever they portray “Westerners/Americans” in K-dramas, they always cast white people, in the most cringe-fucking way. They even use Russians for American roles. They genuinely believe Westerners in this country are predominantly white, when in reality, it’s far more diverse, influenced and built off the backs of Black people. Here we are idolizing people who don’t idolize us. If you’re going to create or absorb content like this over idols, do it without reaching and with self-respect. Stop getting excited when idols sound, look, dance, and are influenced by black culture, profiting off of it, but are obsessed with white women behind closed doors. I need y’all to stand tf up
Dat right there💯. "We black women" must love, value, respect, and appreciate "ourselves". Stop being a pick-me and looking for validation when the truth is we are just exotic toys and fetishes to be dismissed and thrown away quickly by "them". They (East Asian) are under Confusus philosophy. So therefore, they only love and pick whiteness. But, I believe KPop and K HipHop will end very soon.
Why are you posting this as if they don't know? Why is it every time a bw posts about IR content for bw there is always one of you trying to be the voice of reason to deter them? There is enough dating content of bw in korea online for them to get a fair picture of the status of bw with korean men. The USA IS predominantly white. The stats say so. It's a fair assumption on their part. They're just crushing on performers as many young women do. Do Celebs ever idolize their fans anyway? I'm on the autism spectrum .. I'm not idolizing anything. Celeb crushes for most men are white or lighter skinned women - even for bm. So what are they to do? Not have a preference anyway? To deny their humanity in having a ceeb crush? Let them enjoy their youth for goodness sakes. No one speaks to men like this. Why are women always being warned on setting standards too high or unrealistic when a man can be a basic bum and folks just let him go on with his preference without judgement?
@@TheQueenIsWithin yeah the original commenter never said black women shouldn’t have high standards, black women should absolutely have high standards and crush on whoever they want, just like everyone else does. but this video does come off as seeking validation, and feels very desperate. y’all can act obtuse all you want but the vibe of the video is weird. it would’ve even been a lot less weird if it was just a compilation of black fans and idol interactions, cause I know black fans can be very underrepresented in fan compilations. but instead the video just comes off delusional and wanting to be picked and validated by these men. and I’m not talking about the black women in the videos who happened to take photos with these idols or the black fans who are just excited to interact with their faves, I’m talking about the person who made this compilation and the context behind it. it’s literally ‘kmusicandblackwomen’ all over again 🙄
