- Awesome share by one of my favorite NA speakers, Scott H. I love the way he relates to the addict in this tape as he tells his story of recovering from a hopeless addiction to a wonderful life he never dreamed was possible! Very moving and uplifting, it also has several parts that make me laugh out loud!
"Narcotics Anonymous (NA) describes itself as a "fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem" following the Twelve Steps and the Twelve Traditions developed by Alcoholics Anonymous, and it is the second-largest 12-step organization.
As of May 2010 there were more than 58,000 NA meetings in 131 countries.
Because no attendance records are kept, it is impossible to estimate what percentages of those who come to Narcotics Anonymous remain active in NA over time. The only sure indicator of the program's success in attracting members is the rapid growth in the number of registered Narcotics Anonymous meetings in recent decades and the rapid spread of Narcotics Anonymous outside North America.
In 1978, there were fewer than 200 registered groups in three countries.
In 1983, more than a dozen countries had 2,966 meetings.
In 1993, 60 countries had over 13,000 groups holding over 19,000 meetings.
In 2002, 108 countries had 20,000 groups holding over 30,000 meetings.
In 2005, 116 countries had over 21,500 groups holding over 33,500 weekly meetings.
In 2007, there were over 25,065 groups holding over 43,900 weekly meetings in 127 countries.
In 2012, there were over 62,700 meetings worldwide in over 142 countries" From Wikipedia

I am in a treatment center and I have 10 days clean now. After 34 years of total madness I realized, 10 days ago, that I had a life threatening issue going on with me. Thank GOD that there places out there that exist for people like us. I now feel some serenity and self worth, Thank to the speaker, Scott H., and all of you for your comments. All of this truly let me know that I am not alone and that this way of life works if you work it.

I listened to this message because i didn't have time to go to a meeting before i go to my job. I have been feeling very low lately and i needed to hear the message of recovery to get me through another day. I'm 9 months clean on Sunday because of N.A. Thank you N.A

Holy shit. Scott thank u so much. That was powerful. Our stories are alike yet so different , this shit has me laughing ,crying and scared all at the same time. So think u and I'll jeep coming back because I know my father God in heaven has my back always and forever. To anyone that doesn't get the God part ...... Give it time he will show you just how powerful he is once he knows your willing to work hard for his love, plus u get recovery at the same time.

as an addict i find myself hyper-intellectualizing and my Dexedrine / Vyvanse addiction doesn't help
but even in recovery when i go to meetings i'm alw ays like 'how does this work? do i really have a higher power? could it actually be a tree? how would that be a higher power? do i want what these people have to begin with?" etc etc.. and it gets a lot deeper than that but i'll spare you all. i'm looking forward to going to meetings again cause I've become a toal shut-in or hikikomori
I struggle day in and out being addicted to adderall and I don't know how to stop. I torture myself with so many thoughts that don't ever seen to stop cycling in my brain. I want recovery but I don't know how to let go. I used to feel like you did about meetings but I know that this is the only place I'm going to find myself, the truth and serenity

Right now I am just past my 9 months clean and having the hardest period in my recovery yet, not because of some event, just because I am hitting that wall emotionally and need NA more than ever.
For all of you who have just found NA and these tapes, keep going at it because your investment now will definitely help you stay clean when things cool off and you wake up with a couple of months clean behind you and realise that many of your emotional trouble is still there. Investing means dialing those numbers and getting to know other recovering addicts and asking for their advice.

Anna ur comment brings tears 2 my Eyes bc I'm thinking bk 2 my experience 7 yrs, 8 months & idk how many mins & secs. My clean date has not changed since 12/12/2009 my Celebration or Anniversary celebration date has changed bc I'm not in charged but my HP is. Anyway, Anna I was struggling to come off methadone from Feb. 4, 1998 - Dec. 12, 2009. My Higher Power sent persons my way 2 show me how to wean off of methadone. My highest dosage was a 100 mg & my lowest was 10 mg. I remembering my 1st Christmas experience not drinking my "juice" AKA Methadone I had been detoxing for 2 wks. & I was physically beat but I also was Spiritually UPLIFTED by my family, my network, my Hm group & my Sponsor. My family got the grand idea 2 visit me 3 days prior to Christmas to prepare dinner. They told me I didn't HV 2 do anything but RECOVER. The LOVE I FELT JUST LIFTED ME UP. & guess what I felt so much better each & everyday. For the 1st time I ever had 20 or more family members in my Hm & it was BEAUTIFUL. We cried, We laugh, We argued & We enjoyed one another. Some stayed over night & some went Hm. Wow! Hang in there HOPE is on the way! Love u & be ENCOURAGED!
