    Sato looses it by spinning down the track while DF head up the banking, DF was actually giving him room for the pass. Sato lost it because he was too aggressive, the impressive thing is that DF didn't loose it! DF did push Sato down the track initially, but Sato didn't start to loose it until DF started to give him room, Sato had the throttle pinned through the beginning of the turn which is what lost him the race.

    The first Indy 500 I watched and one of the greatest races I ever saw.
    I´m loving Formula 1 but this is the real racing and the spirit Formula 1 used to have!
    Sato raced in a great way, I really hoped he would end up on the podium.
    Racing from nearly last to first within 100 laps is a stunning performance by Franchitti - and his interview crying remembering Dan Wheldon made me nearly cry too.

    Absolutely correct. Queen Elizabeth II is the Queen of England as well as the Queen of Scotland (and of Australia, Canada, New Zealand etc etc). Turning back to motor racing, Dario Franchitti is definitely up there with Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton as being currently the best drivers from the UK to compete at an international level. British motor racing is in a good place at the moment!

  • @TOWexpert1

    As a matter of fact I did. I said that the car industry these days rely on international cooperation. If Dallara pulled out then there are plenty of industries that can take the place.

    It was a heck of a ballsy move for him-a shame it didn't pay off. I have to wonder, the way the draft was working that day, if he would have been able to hold the lead through the ensuing final lap, though. If he had made this move in turn 3 instead of turn 1 and pulled it off, he might be having his likeness made for the Borg-Warner right now.

  • @TOWexpert1

    O know Dario personally and he's one of the finest drivers I've ever met. His knowledge of the race and all there is to do with it is absolutely enlightening to hear. Not any normal human being is capable of racing at those speeds year after year and on top of that WIN! All indy racers are amazing, but he sets a really high standard hard to match. Once again, well done Dario.

    They talked to Barnhart about that after the race last year and he held off on throwing the yellow because you cannot benefit from a caution you caused. Not to mention the fact that it wasn't certain JR was going to cross the line. So if you freeze the field there what happens? JR was up against the wall and not in the racing line, Sato was, which was why the yellow was thrown.

    As Ayton Senna once said... if you no longer go for a gap your no longer a racing driver. Sato went for the gap on the last lap of the Indy 500, it didn't pay off but good on him for having a go. What you expect Dario to just move over and let him have it..... pfffttt yeah right!!!

    Blocking is placing one's car directly in the path of another to impede its progress. What Franchitti did was run a defensive line -- which is now perfectly legal, by the way. Then, he merely held his ground on the outside. He gave Sato a lane, and that's all that was required of him. There was no cheating there.
    Furthermore, the fact that you actually expect Franchitti to make it easy for another driver to pass him on the last lap of the Indy 500 demonstrates your clear bias against him.

    how do you not see the entertainment? indycar isn't all ovals, as most undereducated people think. there is a mix of road and street courses and also oval which is what makes indycar so unique and enjoyable. instead of getting accustomed to one type if racing course, you must learn them all. not hating, just saying.

    Not a Dario fan, but he did nothing wrong. He defended his line once on the straight and gave a good amount of room in turn 1. It was a racing accident IMO. Kudos to Taku for going for it. Great Race!

  • @DJK83
    @DJK83 12 лет назад

    Are you high? Franchitti held his line and left enough room to account for the width of Sato's car. On the last lap of the race, that's all he's required to do. It's not Franchitti's job to give Sato the room to COMFORTABLY make the pass; that's not how racing works. When Sato made the move, there was an extremely limited amount of space available. If that wasn't enough for him to work with, he shouldn't have MADE the move. It's that simple. Franchitti did exactly what he was supposed to do.

  • @slurry15
    @slurry15 12 лет назад

    Sato is the same driver he was in F1. His being too aggressive in his overtakes usually results in his crashing out of the race. Don't blame Dario for Sato just doing what he usually does. Just lucky that Sato's crash didn't take out the usual 3 other cars.

    What the hell are you talking about!? He's from the UK (like I am) which makes him a British racing driver. His license to go motor racing is awarded by the MSA of Great Britain and therefore races under the Union Flag. You do realise that being Scottish also makes him British as well right?? The same as me being English also makes me British.

    No, it's NOT. It looked fine on ABC HD. For years now, Indycar's RUclips channel has had problems with their video editing. First, it was a failure to de-interlace the original 60i video, resulting in the "comb" effect during motion, and now it's this excessive aliasing.

    The rear engine race car was introduced to F1 by Sir Jack Brabham in 1957. F1 was still considered a primitive series at the time. In that day Sports Car Racing was considered king and the 24 Hours of Lemans the ultimate race. The rear engine car was slow to catch on in F1 and Brabham took the design to the Indy 500 in 1961. Indycar adapted to the new design much quicker although diehards like Jim Hurtibise will tell you otherwise. AOWR to to the format quicker than F1. No ripoff was involved,

    After getting a glimpse of the F1 life (via RUclips and games), I think of the IRL as a bridge between Nascar and Formula One. It introduces the Western audience to open wheel racing, but keeps it simple by going around an oval, instead of a road course. I guess Westerners prefer speed over technical driving.
