I'm from Brazil, and when I saw Chihayafuru, I was completely in love with karuta! It's so amazing, and I keep learning a lot with all of those animes!
I started watching this sport because of Chihayafuru. I HUNGER for karata now. It's better than American sports and European futbol combined. It keeps on me on set the whole time and when someone wins I like like it's my whole body wants to explode. It's sooo exciting. This is a REAL sport.
Chihaya's love for Karuta is spreading though out the fans and I'm one of the fans that got hit by that and now I want to learn all about Karuta and all about the hidden meaning for each card of the past like how Chihaya learned from Kana-chan.....thumbs up if you are here to know the hidden meaning of the poems like Chihaya
Chihayafuru is the best and because of it I really want to play Karuta and I've search all the information I could get. It's really fun!! and now i'm starting to memorize the 100 poems.
It's funny to see how many people only know this game through anime. I know the game from a very old black and white Japanese movie... I forget the name of it... but it took place during edo period, and I recall the people walking in the snow. The karuta had no pictures and the cards were made of wood.
Hell yeah !! Chihayafuru fan in tha house!! LOL seems like Japan can make an anime or magna out of anything. Here in the US seems like only fantasy, action, comedy or drama get made into cartoons and comics. I wish somebody would make anime/manga or cartoon/comic about Western games like Poker or Chess. Those games are pretty competative and we even have serious tournaments. I can't play either one of those games but I like to watch.
Sharrylyn Rivero I thought the same!... the opening poem is different than the usual, and BLuELovESIEOK in Chihayafuru they are faster than here, (this is the first game so probably they are not here as fast as they can be) however I saw a real final game few months ago and they where incredibly fast!! :) this game is great!!
Yeah, but you know that there are different kinds of Karuta... I think this is kinda demonstrate Karuta and the one in Chihayafuru was competitive Karuta...
"Naniwazuni- Sakuya kono hana fuyugo mori-- Ima wo harube to sakuya kono hana- Ima wo harube to sakuya kono hana". done watching chihayafuru season 1 and season last episode. wew I only watch it because im curious about real karuta play. weew infuence by watching chihayafuri haha.. I loved japan :D OTAKU is everything
This isn't the karuta I'm used to seeing. Where's all the inner monologue and in depth analysis between readings? And how come there are no cards stuck into walls?
I get that the clothing is traditional, but it just seems hella inconvenient. I can totally see it happen that you swipe a card on the opponents side and completely ruin the deck xD. Also find the way the poems are told kinda... annoying at time. Yet i still enjoy watching Chihayafuru. It made me look up karuta and it brought me here :).
I think that the reader of the cards in chihayafuru is far more better than the one in this video. It just hurts my ears with that squeaky voice. I think no one smashes the cards like Chihaya does almost everyone plays like the queen.
I'm becoming obsessed because of chihayafuru
Florence Yuen samee TAT
I've been trying to imagine the U.S. having an elegant, ritualistic and rigorous sport based upon LITERATURE.
Impossible
I would literally hug a person if someone in my school knows this either from anime or from the internet or just a random thing
Julia Nguyen same
I am here because of chihaya furu . O.O Wanna try to play it too. hahaha
Ikr
Chihaya furu brought me here....I kinda like this karuta
The Karuta they play in Chihayafuru is so much more intense and sensitive from noise. I also play Karuta and believe me, it is actually quite hard.

it looks so elegant!!!!! I´m so envy of the people who live in Japan!!!! .....I want to play Karuta........
Lara Chan same ;-;
I'm from Brazil, and when I saw Chihayafuru, I was completely in love with karuta! It's so amazing, and I keep learning a lot with all of those animes!

It's funny to see how many people only know this game through anime. I know the game from a very old black and white Japanese movie... I wonder why foreigners can enjoy Chiharafuru without understanding a single Japanese word of Karuta.
Trumpf there is a thing called subtitles
Sharrylyn Rivero I thought the same!... the opening poem is different than the usual, and BLuELovESIEOK in Chihayafuru they are faster than here, (this is the first game so probably they are not here as fast as they can be) however I saw a real final game few months ago and they where incredibly fast!! :) this game is great!!

There are lots of Chihayafuru fans here ! xD
who expected the players to bang the floor and swipe up the card? i was hoping there was actually a person that can play that fast
all of you watched this because the chihayafuru's effect, just admit it.. :D
This isn't the karuta I'm used to seeing. Where's all the inner monologue and in depth analysis between readings? And how come there are no cards stuck into walls?

How can they strike at the card if they wear such heavy clothes .. anyway I'm really envious of their traditions though
Karuta is fun
Haha lol😍😍😍😍I want to play this!!
the opening poem is different from the usual "Naniwa zu-ni/Sakuya kono hana..."
It is the words of old Japan.
Chihayafuru? I came across this looking for "traditional bukake" 0.o
Yes i saw their smile ^^
It's forbidden normally ?
Nearly all the comments are about Chihayafuru >.
Chihayafuru brought me here too xD~
I get that the clothing is traditional, but it just seems hella inconvenient. I can totally see it happen that you swipe a card on the opponents side and completely ruin the deck xD.
Also find the way the poems are told kinda... annoying at time. Yet i still enjoy watching Chihayafuru. It made me look up karuta and it brought me here :).

Chihayafuru !!
Chihaya-chan brought me here :D
wah the young girl wearing the red at the second row(the right side row) is so cute XD
I think that the reader of the cards in chihayafuru is far more better than the one in this video. It just hurts my ears with that squeaky voice. I think no one smashes the cards like Chihaya does almost everyone plays like the queen.
