  • I haven't been doing well recently. This video sheds a light on what's been happening and what's about to happen. I'd like to thank you all for your patience and for all the kind messages I've gotten so far. Here's to hoping the surgery fixes things. Much love, Matt.

This must have been incredibly hard to say, thanks for sharing mate. I am sure the surgery will go well. I know it is your passion and you love doing it.. but sometimes you can say 'fk the fans' and focus on yourself & health as thats the most important thing. Best of luck again for the surgery, you will get back clicking soon ;)

    1. Did you get started in photography first and then timelapse or just straight to timelapses?
    2. What's the most difficult timelapse you've ever made and what did you have to go through for it?
    3. Aside from family and friends, what do you miss the most from Belgium?
    4. Favorite drinking game?
    5. What superhero ability would you pick?
    6. If you could only use a single lens for the rest of your life, which lens would that be?
    7. What's your favorite meme?
That's all I've got for now. Take care, man. Never ever feel bad for not producing content (aside from maybe an income standpoint, that shit is depressing), because your health comes first and I'm sure everyone agrees on that. I hope your surgery goes well.

I recently went through a traumatic experience.. mid June, after that I went through a lot of anxiety and panic attacks and depression. As time goes by I’ve been healing. It hasn’t been easy. God has been with me throughout this whole time. I’ve been praying more and I will say a prayer for you. I believe the Lord can heal you and your hand/arm will be as good as new. If you are a believer say a prayer.
😇 keep us updated after the surgery if you can to know how it went 😊

My mother fell about 3 months ago and broke a bone in her left hand and shredded the tendons in a finger on her right hand. She is a musician and has played the flute for 50 years, and also picks up the violin, guitar and anything else that makes a noise. Most physical therapy visits end in a great deal of pain and swelling, but she sticks with it. Her recovery has been difficult emotionally because music is her passion and also her job. She's had a good support system from friends and family, which has been the most important part of getting back to good health, but every now and then I can tell she gets down in the dumps about not being able to use her hands like she used to. I still don't know all the right words to say to her when she feels bad, but I know she appreciates all the "little things" we can do to help.
Best of luck on Friday! You know your body best, so if you still think there's a piece of wire left behind or if something else just doesn't feel right, then don't be afraid to speak up and put your foot down to get some answers. I work in healthcare, and I've noticed that sometimes doctors get in a "routine" of expected results/outcomes and they just need an extra loud voice to convince them otherwise. That being said, here's hoping everything goes GREAT and there will be a quick recovery with no obstacles!

I also wish your mother a speedy recovery! an injury is never good but patience and good therapy can really help! She's in our thoughts! You Too Matt! its all to real and just know that your amazing in everyway and that its okay to step back and just be. Warm regards!

Matt, best wishes with the surgery. Thanks for sharing....and hang in there. One recommendation after the surgery and something to look at regarding the 'depression'. Have blood work done and they should be looking at your hormone levels. In short, testosterone levels, thyroid, estrogren...things an endocrinologist would look at. You would be surprised how your hormone levels can effect how you feel..especially as you get older. Something to consider..again, thanks for sharing....and wishing the best.

This was my obsession question: how do most youtubers like you(that teach and work and vlog same time) could have this energy?
I was in burnout till some weeks ago. I wanna learn photography, video, timelapse and do my full time job as web developer at same time, plus some extra work like developer. One day I woke up, and no more motivated to do anything. This is fucking serious, but trust me that taking your time will be recover and you'll be back to your passion/work. Not the same who you was, but with a good start. Keep on Matthew! I still have a postcard in my desk drawer that is waiting to be written and sent to you

Mate, your a legend for speaking about your struggles. Most fellas don’t, (and lots of females too) and it causes a lot of harm by not doing so. It takes a lot of guts, more than you give yourself credit for. Do yourself a favour though, take a break from social media for a set period of time. Just try it out and see if you’re better for it. I’m a Sydney sider too and always keen for beer, coffee or timelapsing. Or all of the above! Take care mate!

Yes social media does put on this artificial pressure. But it's time to grow that FU attitude and put yourself first..next to Amelia. Also STOP! And do not conpare yourself to anyone or anythng. And i'll be honest...that last part in soooo HARD. Don't be to hard on yourself. And take time..take care buddy 😉

I feel your pain Matt as I have suffered from a lot of anxiety and a few periods of depression over the years. Your followers will understand. Although, I hear its still a struggle, you have good people around you and critically you have a few systems in place to take care of yourself. For me meditation and a plant based diet helps. You are also having to deal with a lot of uncertainty regarding what is the best medical intervention and as ever, their are so many pros and cons for any treatment. Came across this video by chance and discovered your content so I have now subscribed. Hoping that you have a speedy recovery from your surgery. Take time to heal both mind body and spirit and your photography will benefit from it. Best of luck John

Veel succes vrijdag man...!

Luv ya buddy...i celebrated 30 years on road this year as a touring audio engineer and it happens to the best of us. We aren't supermen. I am dealing with something similar from being hit by a car 11 years ago and the returning pain coming on as I age....and the mental beat down this pain brings with it also due to accompanying insomnia the pain brings. This will pass and you will be smarter for it ....be patient with yourself. Just don't ever give up. And you opening up about it helps me and your other viewers who are commenting about their struggles feel not so alone...and feeling not alone is always empowering. So this vid was a nice catalyst for that "non isolated" feeling. Sending you all the positive vibes and I know your next operation will be a-ok. All of us who deal with this sort of stuff are put here to help each other out. 👍👍👍

The surgery will have amazing results for you! I live with chronic pain, and it is exhausting, so I relate to that. Also, thank you for sharing re depression, I really appreciate that!💞

Felt heartbroken upon hearing about your injury that had lasted nearly decade physically as well as mentally. But just like establishing yourself as a timelapse photographers in overly crowded community took guts and courage and it worked out fine, so will your courage and strength work out the best for your surgery. Clearly you're a mentally strong guy which helps the body physically as well. Heaps of prayers and good vibes from here. All the best for the big day that will relieve your ongoing struggle. Stay positive (p.s. getting involved in spiritual/social service practices does help with mental stability and i have personally felt it work in favour for me.i know that RUclips is social service in a way but i am referring to local service offline where you physically get involved) once again you've got this mate.

You're a legend mate! I wish the surgery goes great, but I mainly I hope the depression problems decrease and eventually cease to exist. I hope you can find a new hobby or passion where to put your anxiety and stress on, until your wrist is healed and you can go back to the gym, if that's what you still like the most!
You're true inspiration! Thanks for what you've done so far !
