McCallie is impressive. My HS used to play them when we were constantly 1 or 2 in the nation. That was back in 2001. My team has since become meh. McCallie is still that good. That’s amazing for a HS team to have that kind of staying power.
This is high school, the best players at this age don't play for their schools but rather their clubs or MLS next teams. This are not the top high school aged kids in the nation by a wide margin
Rankings are political. And as others have said, the best players no longer play for their HS teams. It’s now just a watered down version of what it used to be.
The best highschool boys soccer team to ever play together in the history of highschool soccer was the 2010 East Kentwood Falcons from the west side of michigan. Had 3 players turn full pro directly after the season skipping d1 college opportunity and there last season of Academy and head to Europe. Had one residency under 17 national team player, 4 ODP Region 2 team players, two kids who went and played at michigan, 1 at MSU, and another at Butler, and multiple who went on to play d3 and NAIA.

I don't know who is reading this, but if you ever fill an empty whole, which cannot be fulfilled, the only way to fulfill is by Jesus. @@fizzedball7078 I think a few of the players look like they are in club….but the overall lack of play and finesse in tight spaces is one of those telltale signs they didn’t grow up being trained in the total football philosophy….no tiki taka….no rondos….etc. I’m sure they will do well at some D1 program.
Part of the problem is they don't play on a proper pitch. The field is too narrow and the ball moves too quickly without real grass. So it just turns into a crazy free for all.

The United Coaches poll has St. Benedict’s Prep out of Newark, NJ as the number 1 team in the nation. Consistently the best . Max preps has them ranked 13. The team in this video is not even ranked top 25 right now. Good hard game.
a SPA is an auto yellow according to rules Stopping a Promising Attack (SPA). The foul that led to initial PK is a DOGSO (denying obvious goal scoring opportunity) is a red card unless in the box that leads to PK than card is downgraded to yellow. There differences between SPA and DOGSO for example location on field where foul occurs, how many defenders between ball carrier and goal and others but ref seemed to do a good job from watching the recap. Obvious high tension game so trying to let them play but also keep things in control...tough to balance.
Btw oceanside aint even a high school they recruit which is illegal in SCHSL I know because i was offered a spot. Ashely Ridge 2022-2023 was insane beat everyone has 4 D1 commits and 2 ODP National players and i was JV that year coming for varsity as a Freshman made ODP regional.

While they are ranked 2 now they aren’t even that good compared to the team i play on. Riverside soccer was ranked lower this year but the difference is crazy. RiverRidge struggled building out of the back and keeping the ball compared to riverside who would hold the ball for 80% of the game. If you watch riverside at the end of the year they are hands down the best team in the nation.
There a few players trying to move the ball, but mostly looks like they are trying to see who can run the fastest. if i could explain american soccer, i would say watch this game.
should have seen arnold vs jesuit state championship for 5A Florida championship, we (arnold) had a crazy comeback in OT to then make a crazy comeback in PKS, it was insane moment and feeling. especially when we found out we are ranked #1 for winter soccer, crazy

East Coast talent doesn't play for high schools, it's all travel, select and MLS development teams. Playing for a high school was insulting. If you weren't playing semi-pro by 10th grade, you weren't going anywhere and it's definite pay to play.
