I am a carpenter builder and have the dcs 575 and the power is insane ,it does full depth rips as fast as my 1600 watt corded saw ,trust me the 575 is more than you'll ever need.
Also I think the Walt is playing marketing games with these two circular saws because they both have the exact same RPMS and specs and everything else so just by looking at the spec sheet you can't tell there's any kind of difference and so I doubt that you're really getting almost 50% more power with the flexvolt advantage version compared to the full FlexVolt 60 Volt DCS 575 that we're using and I love that saw too
Ive owned the 578 for 6 months and that thing is stupid powerful. Im am only a DIY and i cannot see in my use this saw not having enough power for something.
A 9AH battery is about 50% more powerful than a 6AH battery. So to help market the new saw, it just sounds like they used the stronger batt with the new saw. Big deal. The real question is, is BOTH the 575 and 578 able to take advantage of the 9AH battery in the same way? I don’t see why not. Both are already flexvolt tech. At the end of the day, it just sounds like the 578 comes with a hook. So if you’re a roofer, etc, I guess get the hook version. Everyone else who already owns a 575? Wait for the next big upgrade.
Hi Jeff and fellow tool aficionados! A bit late commenting, but I bought this as a ‘kit deal’ earlier this Summer. It came with the 9 Amp hour battery, Saw, DCD 796 drill, and 2.0 battery, with one of the new 6 amp chargers, for $299. I believe you featured this in one of your Vids, Jeff? It indeed is a bit stronger than the DCS 575. One of the most powerful cordless saws I have used. Check the blade alignment and the baseplate for evenness if you buy one. Good saw! Stay safe Peace 👍🙏🇺🇸
That was a killer deal you got on that saw combo kit. I bought a similar one with my DCS575 and the DCD996 hammer drill, the yellow fast charger, a 6 AH Flexvolt and I think a 2 aH battery, for $314
It's funny that the brush-less motor design and energy density of battery hasn't improved a whole lot in the last while. Maybe the newer designs are to substantiate the high cost of R and D engineers and labs. Tesla seem to be onto a new battery design that could be the mainstay of future power tool R and D
That new FlexVolt saw has been out for a little while now , and that's why your Saw kit with the Drill was on sale because it was the older version....👍🛠🖖
@@chiefsnation8347 awesome deal, no chiefs? Got the same deal. The compact hammer drill is actually quite nice. Runs smooth, and good FWD/ REV switch, and the chuck spins real true! Saw is very strong! That newer 6 amp charger is nice as well. Two stage charging works well. Peace
I bought the 575 and also the 60v flexvolt grinder when they first came out in 2017... now, they've got the newer 578 and newer flexvolt grinder claiming both have more power... I can't stand not having the latest and greatest, but, I don't think I'm missing out ... both tools I own are pretty powerful... but, you're the expert- should I upgrade and sell my old tools 1/2 price on Craigslist???
you guys really like confusing yourselves dont you! LoL. Home Depot has an exclusive agreement with SBD to sell Flexvolt 60v. Lowes and HD both enjoy having different model numbers of the power detect and flexvolt advantage because that means they dont have to honor each others sale prices. Model numbers have to be exactly the same. Also, Lowes is exclusive for FLEX brand tools made by Chervon and the "Flex Advantage". Not to be confused with Flexvolt Advantage LOL.
Dcs578 has already been around a year it's not new and 578 produce 2400watt of power only when used with 9amh or 12 amh batteries since they utilize 21700 cells
I know it's been around, but I don't think it did 2400 UWO with the 9 AH batteries until recently and their web site only calls out the 9AH battery not the 12 AH battery. the Detection of Power is not the battery itself it is the software inside the drill. Why else would Dewalt say new on their web site? This might be an incremental change.
Hello Jeff, according to Dewalt is only 47% more power than the one u have. Thanks again for your videos I went to Costco yesterday 😜 good deals. from Tx.
... if Dewalt wanted a rafter hook without much modification he could use my innovation, and he could sale it separately, because all he had to do was to make modification just one the front handler , not to modify entire card carcass. You can see it on my videos .
It's not 47% more than power detect, it's the same tool as power detect, power detect is lowes exclusive and advantage is home depot exclusive. They had to name it different
I never said it is 47% more than power detect, I said and pointed it out specifically on Dewalt's web site that it says 47% more power than the DCS575, which is my circular saw, formerly their top of the line saw. My DCD575 is not a Power Detect, nor did I ever says it was a power detect, nor did I ever say the new Dewalt DCS998 is 47% more powerful than any Power detect saw, so I'm not sure what it is you are trying to correct me for saying.
Its definitely not the same tool as power detect. I have the power detect and the dcs578 and the dcs 578 has way more power. And u can't use the battery from the detect in the dcs578
@@chiefsnation8347 That is correct! Brandon just a little confused. 🙄😀 I don’t know why DeWalt is creating this confusion with all the power this, and advantage that. 60 volt tools will NOT run on 20 volt batteries ! And now they seem to be promoting the new ‘advantage line’ like it is only ones that can run on the FlexVolt batteries? I use several 20 volt tools with the 60 volt batteries, no issues? Some have reported the FlexVolt causes the 20 volt tools to burn up? They most likely’tweaked’ the electronics to put out more juice, and keep this from happening? Back in the day, the older 18 volt NiCd tools ( mostly the drills and recips ) ‘pulled’ a lot of amperage draw from the batteries, giving them an edge on performance, at expense of the batteries. The DCS 578 has not been out for over a year. It came out around December last year or so. It is most certainly stronger than the DCS575, which was akready a gutsy saw! Stay safe Peace 👍🙏🇺🇸

I was able today to price match the dewalt Workbench at my local home depot at 99.00 to an out of state home depot at 69.00. Got it for $69.00
