The market for large cabin, long-range business aircraft is one of the industry's most competitive sectors, prompting manufacturers to vie for dominance with ever-more sophisticated technology. So, it's little wonder that Gulfstream has stepped up its investment to bring the new G700 aircraft to market. The model claims a competitive edge over near rivals like Bombardier's new Global 7500 with its new Rolls-Royce Pearl engines, a new application for the latest Symmetry flight deck systems and an impressive cabin. Ahead of the G700's launch at the 2019 NBAA show, AIN got an exclusive preview of what the new Gulfstream jet brings to the party.

There's not many things as beautiful as a Gulfstream's wings.
I guess you havent seen them up close🙄
@@scavenom2008 yeah its s work of art looking at the wings as it soars above but on the ground it's just like any other wing except its shape is different.

If I could afford one, I wouldn't buy one. If I could afford one I'd be one of NetJets biggest customers, and I wouldn' have to pony up for hangering at the local airport, and maintenance and fuel and insurance and crew salaries and insurance and retirement and hotel for when I'm away. For those times I didn't NEED a 7,500 mile airplane -- the VAST majority of the time, I could order up a more reasonable sized airplane to fly from south Texas to Denver, for example.

"By pilot for pilot" cockpit design. Brilliant move by Gulfstream.
Pilots are not the ones who usually purchase such planes though
Maxim Matkovsky their the ones who fly it though dipshit
@@maximmatkovsky6490 I am very well aware of that, but taking the workload off any pilot, like they have done here, is any aircraft owners' dream. A happy pilot means happy pax.
@@Brother-Louis that is true, but like I have said opinion of pilots might not be the deciding one. Financial costs of the plane would decide it for corporations, all else irrelevant for them. That cockpit tech makes the 787 / A350 cockpits seem stone age. Very impressive.
Actually, submarines try to keep noise "in" and "out" of the sonar-scopes for the bad guys.
Beat me to it. Thank God the engineers are smarter than the C-suite.
Actually, maybe he didn't mention that submarines try to keep noise "in" given that nobody in the airline industry gives a fuck about keeping noise in.

I think that allowing pilots to build the flight deck by pilots for pilots was a stroke of Genius & will really push the G700 forward in sales .
I’m sure that the CEO’s are scrambling to figure out exactly how many jobs to eliminate in order to buy one.
Not actually. No one pays their own money to purchase a jet. They grow their buisness and use the tax money to buy the plane and write it off.
I've never thought of plans being beautiful but this is a art peace

For just under 7min, I was a billionaire being taken through my next jet.
@:43 The shorter takeoff distance required,(450ft), for the Global 7500 might give it an edge. This will get it in and out of more regional and private airstrips.
Looks very nice, but I don't know about touchscreen cockpit controls. Touch screen breaks/malfunctions often and it doesn't seem so safe to put such critical controls this way.
I've never had a problem with touch screen.
vol4cast there’s manual option if that happens
It's going to be a nice airplane, no doubt. Gulfstream is a great company. We used to have a G4, a Global Express and a Falcon 900 back in the late 1990's. The new cockpit is the weakest part of it. Too much information, too many goodies and a sidestick. Touch screens on the overhead panel, seriously? How about during turbulence...oops, wrong switch? This is why military aircraft have no more touch screens and really modern airliners keep the normal switches. For the owners the G700 looks very modern and state of the art, but less is more. Especially when your average G700 pilot has little experience in electronic checklist, FBW and sidestick operation. Even for us widebody airline pilots who fly every day, the state of the art electronic equipment is a handful. During normal operation it is very helpful but during non normal events you really have to know the details of your aircraft and fly the beast at the same time safely. Corporate pilots are in general not the best pilots. No offense here, but the reality is that their aviation background is a kind of flimsy, to say the least. Most of them never went through skill tests to become a professional two men operator. The second thing is: they simply do not fly enough. The average Gulfstream or Global Express driver logs less than five hundred hours per year. That means less than a hundred landings per pilot / copilot per year, mostly on the same three airports. This is simply not enough to fly safely and to efficiently operate a highly automated fly-by-wire sidestick cockpit aircraft. The aircraft is perfect, but the quality of the pilots is questionable. I am aware of the fact, that maybe ten percent of the corporate pilots would be good enough to fly widebody aircraft around the globe. As copilots. The new G700 cockpit is way too demanding for pilots which make only a handful of landings as PF per month. The medium rich owners have no clue about this. They trust their pilots. If they would take their flight department as serious as their own money making business, their pilots would go thru a professional selection process and they would be given a couple of takeoffs and landings per month for practicing. But most owners are cheap and obviously not smart enough to make decisions like that. They will pay the price. I have seen it.
Control your reflexes and try to understand my post. You may not agree, but this is my experience after 35 years of flying one, two, three and four engined fixed wing airplanes. From hanggliders to helicopters and from P-51's to the jumbojet.
Greets from the 747-8 flight deck. I have been in corporate aviation, flying small jets, turboprops and Falcon 900 worldwide, homebase Lugano/Switzerland.
Congratulations to Gulfstream. It is a beautiful airplane.

have they fix the engine issue yet with the 6X?
You confond with the 5 X but the production has been canceled now dassault will produce the 6 X bi engines in 2022 , pratt & witney builds the engine . The cabin will be the widest and tallest all category !
The 8 X and 7 X already fly without problem
Dassault didn't build the engine of 5 X but the company Safran . Safran has not enough experience for small engine ( business jet) but only for airbus or boeing engines.
Safran has been forced to pay dassault who has been forced to stop the 5 X .
During flight emergency, pilots often refer to the manuals for directions to figure out the issue and solve it in order to land the airplane safely at nearest airport, but given latest computer technology and flight control display, can they design the touch-screen flight manual in stead of paper manual and install the manual instructions for both pilots to use?

I have a question about the jets really can it fly from usa to philippines directly? Or nahh
Gulfstream should have gone with speed instead of range. Consistent mach 1 flight. Theres only a handful of individuals that will stand to sit in a plane for 14 hours.
Mach 1??? That doesnt justify the cost and technicalities
yeah speed is way better then range, if they can shave off a couple of hours on each flight that would be a big selling point
Its bad..........i travelled 1st class...........14 hrs.........my first really long flight.........i felt we need SSTs.....
I believe all the manufacturers are exploring supersonic designs currently.
The problem with supersonic is that it would immediately alienate all the government maritime agencies that use Gulfstream aircraft. Mission time and equipment capabilities are more important to those buyers than cruise speed.
Can you deliver 2 by Xmas?

One word-REDUNDANCY
There's a lot of redundancy in these systems, you've always got back up
I agree. Having flown for 50 years, and watching Airlines Crash INVESTIGATIONS, if it's not hydraulic failure, I notice so many episodes about aircraft with computers calling out "Approaching Stall AND Overspeed" simultaneously and even when the crew disengages the autopilot, no matter WHAT the pilots do, the plane will go into a nose dive or up at a 60 degree angle until it DOES stall.
And that SIDE joystick, connected to the computers will NOT obey your commands.
No thanks! Not putting down Gulfstream per say,but the whole aircraft manufacturing industry going in that direction.
We are PILOTS, not monitors of computers.
Maybe it was just me but first thing at hearing about the new G700, I immediately had to find a pic to count how many windows-- "7,8,9,10! ohhhh boy!"
