Yeah. "Doppelgänger" in German, and either "Doppelgaenger" or just "Doppelganger" in English. Funny word to include in hindsight.

English spellings make no sense in general, that’s why spelling bee is a thing.
because English uses loan words and rules from a lot of other languages. English takes other languages to dark back alleyways and mugs them for words and rules

I think it's doppelgänger in English probably acceptable without the accent mark or with an ae but I think standard English spelling had it as one of the few words with accent marks. Like an über rare letter.
