    The chime on these things is insane! They're also very articulate for higher gain leads (that neck pickup ...). Love them. I've played a decent number of different strat pickups (not by any means an expert), but they are the best I've personally heard.

    I love the two post bridge! Plus, I have these pups as well. They are just extremely accurate in a narrow range of the sound envelope. Sure the Texas Specials, or 69s are nice, but in my eyes one-dimensional. You get those for sounding like SRV, or Jimi. But, these are great!!!

    I personally like the '69s just a touch more than these. The '69 neck pickup has a bit more of that bell-like twangyness (very technical terms, I know) generally associated with Fenders.

    My two best Strats both have 12 to 14 inch neck radius's (1989 Korean and a 2019 Compound Elite USA) and need unstaggered pickups.
    So, got the original low output vintage 4.5Kohm's in the Korean, and putting hot Deluxe Drives in the Elite partscaster to compete with a Pearly Gates bridge Humbucker. The Deluxe Drives are flat across . . . no stagger.

I notice in the video you turn down the tone a bit which must help. The way my preloaded pickguard is wired the tone controls don't control the bridge . . . I guess I'll have to fix that as otherwise these pickups are Strat heaven.

      Replace the second tone pot with a no load pot acting as a blender one...that way on 10 you have your stock strat tone but if you roll down a bit you start bringing a bit of neck (where bridge pickup is on) and round the sound up just the way you want it and the vice versa for the neck(bringing a bit of bridge) best mode out there that requires a couple of extra wires....

    The fat 50s were designed for a vintage style neck with a 7.25 inch radius. Given that the player has a modern 9.5 radius, did you notice any difference in the volume of the strings? For example, the pole piece on the 2nd string is much lower on a 9.5 neck than it would be if the neck was 7.25.

      @Crescent_Audio 3 года назад

      @@PherotoneStudios Dude, glad you asked....It's everything I ever dreamed of in a bedroom tube orange monster. I've been playing the hybrids and solid state oranges for so long, and they sound great too, but I had forgotten what a real tube amp sounded like, especially on the clean channel. It's just that gooey texture that's hard to describe. And then there's the dirty channel, holy shit man, so I have a pretty decent pedalboard rig nowadays that I use for plugging into various amps and I have a joyo UZI distortion onboard that I combine with a timmy and/or a tube screamer to mimic a high gain tone. I can get the pedals close but there's just that response and saturation that the Rocker 15 has that can't be perfectly matched by pedal circuits. I love having the board for versatility and jamming with my brother but the Rocker 15 is like my tone cathedral. I havent got to play it or crank it but a few times since we got a new puppy a few weeks ago, but last sunday I did build a new 2x12 cab for the head. put a vintage 30 and a celestion neo cream-back in it. All in all, it's great man. Just got home from work so I can watch your new video. I left a like but didn't get to watch it yet. Cheers brother!

      “Tone cathedral” - epic phrase!
      Did you build the cab yourself? Nice speaker choice. Nothing really beats a 2x12” vibrating your body
      A little too for the rocker: put it on a clean channel and use a boost pedal to push it into drive territory! Sounds wonderful!
      Thanks for the like, hope you enjoy the fretless series. There will be some interesting parts to it.

After going to all reviews and listening to various pickup combinations (I was thinking of Texas Specials) and listening to a few comparisons I came t the conclusion that Fat 50s were more to my liking. So the search for a deal begun. Well I got lucky, Sweetwater had Fat 50 prewired pickguard on sale, only the black pickguard qualified but that was on by me eben though the guitar had white, when I ordered they were out of stock, guess everyone jumed on them as they were like $100 US off I still placed the order, so my sales engineer calls me to apologyze and after seeing what he could do he offered me a tortoise shell or aged white for the same deal. I eas tickled pink and of course I went for it. CAn't wait to have it installed on ths cheap a** Squire, maybe it'll fro fender wings.
