Fantastic video you put together, very well explained and nothing skipped. Got a power socket reveal video coming up but missed out on the actual install of it
Lol yea since last April . I've been saying I would upload this video n just never got to editing it. I guess it was fine as I needed a better method of snipping the parts that needed to be sped up. Thanks for watching.
Nice job bro. You’re like me, I put thing on the way they came off, even if it looks like it doesn’t matter. My cruiser has a shat, so it’s a little different lol. Be safe dude.
Yes that's right . I wondered about those. Do you have to do any alignment? I would think not due to length of shaft . I found the string method to be the best for me currently.
Ah ok. That's awesome. Oddly my Buell blast (belt drive) is like that .. no alignment needed. Hmm. I finally was able to get the string method to work for me on the vstar , and got the rear wheel aligned with the front. It's good enough that if I let go of the bars it will track straight. Finally ... but I'm a picky nerd about things like that..
Nathan LaBrie haha .. yes I have . The only thing I wish I didn’t do was change tires. I ended up scuffing up my rims even granted I used rim protectors. My technique is better now, but oh well. Live n learn.
You could , but it won't help due to needing to follow the procedure in the book of using the measure tool to apply tension to the belt n tensioning it close to book spec, but slightly loose .
Most of the removal should be the same. Just pay close attention to the alignment plates, so you put them back exactly how they came off. Then take tire to shop get mounted. Remember to add grease to the needle bearings with lithium soap based grass. If you can handle it, it would save you some money, and you can service some of the hard to reach areas.
@@dbest1aVlogs haha, well the roads of New Haven had an off-road style pot hole that wanted to meet my motorcycle for a date and somehow didn't notice the hickey it left my wheel with lol. Seasons a wrap sadly
Yes it would be pretty much the same. To get the belt off you will have to remove the rear wheel. Note your marks and mark it or take photos or something. Then you may have to remove the belt covers on the side . You then can remove the front pulls cover and pull the belt off and if anything seems in the way , you will have to work that out also. Should be a 123 job. Just don't set your belt tension per manual. Set it a tad looser, as you know the 950 tension was to tight from the factory.
@@ryankittrell2352 awesome. I love the scissor jack to help, buy you can always refine it how you want. Just be sure to note the alignment marks before moving them. I didn't , but did end up keeping them close to the same position
I noticed the bag racks, so I'm assuming that's a 1300 deluxe. So you should have given your viewers the full treatment, of explaining all the crap you have to remove, just to get to that wheel hardware.
Yea , I know. Just wanted to keep the series to the point. Actually removing the bags is super simple. N also listed in the service manual which can be had in the download section of the vstar 1300 wiki page or the vstar 1300 Facebook page.
@@dbest1aVlogs I'm with ya. My deluxe is a twin to yours. Same color, same year. Except yours now has more bells and whistles. My biggest wish is to find a diamond shaped LED headlight replacement(not just a bulb).
@@kenbred46 the odd shape of our cluster makes it tough. If you look in the lamp. That metal cover over the headlight. Yup I pulled that out. Then added the led headlight. I’m running the opt7. Removing the cover n aiming the light down a bit makes a huge difference. Just takes time to aim. The spots actually added a little more peripheral light too. I could get by n be fine without them though.

I am glad you found it helpful. I know that rear end of this bike can be a pain. I am glad that this video helped you out .
Hello, thanks for your video, I'm about to remove the rear wheel , and put a patch inside somewhere at a tire shop, because the tire was punctured.
Great video and to the point, one of the best I've seen. Thanks.
Thank you. Appreciate it
great Job Bruce . I see you had time for the upload .. Take Care

Dbest1a’s Ride nope, no alignment needed when your mounting the shaft back. I love that part. It’s not the same with the FJ-09, which is chain driven.

Dbest1a’s Ride it’s good to be a picky nerd about stuff like that 😁👍
Yes very true lmao.
Had to review your video again! I gotta take my tire off and mount a new one today!
Glad it could help.
@@dbest1aVlogs damn, that was easy. Took 5 mins!
Lol
Good clean video man. You can tell you e done this a few times!

I reccomend taking a picture of the drive belt tentiin prior to dissasebly

Wondering after i have watched your vids to change my tires on my 950 myself. Seen the shinko review too. Doesnt look too bad

Just be sure to take pics of your marks,or use white out and mark the notch positions.
@@dbest1aVlogs cool, definitely will. Thanks again
My bike is a 2015 V-Star 1300 it has a muffler on that side it won't let me get a socket on it because the muffler's there so what do you suggest?
WELL, I would pull the muffler.
See my cobra slip on exhaust video in the maintenance playlist for how to remove it.

This is the video..
How about the muffler the mufflers right there where the nut is socket won't fit because the muffler is there
See previous post please ..
Thanks
Do I need to remove the exhaust to remove the rear wheel?
If stock exhaust yes.
Warm up the lower exhaust bolts with a heat cut or light flame to help loosen up the loctite
Is this the same as the 950? I swear I've been looking for videos for 950 belt replacement and cant find ANY

Easy to do but why have you removed the exhaust?
To get to axle nut. Unless you have a short exhaust.
Great job
Thank you
Good video, appreciate you!
Thank you for watching. Stay safe
Job well done.
That's what she said. 👍🏼
Kept asking self.. why not slide caliper out.. clang clang.. honestly tho thanks for the video
You will constantly refine your method every time you do it.
