    But you never actually talked about how exactly to decipher between the imitation stones: stone hardness, tell tale clues… how to examine the stones?

    Much of it is dyed white howlite. Or reconstituted chips of turquoise in resin. There are fine grey veins in howlite. Price does not discriminate - they will sell crap for high prices. Research the company and the origins before purchasing.

    Not a helpful video. Natural turquoise is so soft that most turquoise on the market today is "standardized"... filled with plastic or resin to make it harder and hold it together. Turquoise from different mines (most of them now closed) can have a very different look in terms of color (blue, green, whitish) and threads of black, brown, etc. This article doesn't talk about any of that or how to actually tell the difference between natural and imitations.
