really appreciate this doc, how I wish you're one of my professors. heheh. I was able to understand the test thanks to you Doc, keep up the good work. shalom.
If the eye is (for example, the right eye) clearly esotropic, what does cover test adds to me? As the eye is esotropic and there is failure of abduction, so one can easily diagnose a 6th nerve palsy. Will appreciate your response
Perhaps not for yourself, but it is useful in determining the exact size. This allows for quantitative measurement of the esotropia (using a prism bar) and can help determine the amount of prism required to resolve it; it can be useful to those carrying out any corrective eye surgery (EOMs). In your case for an esotropia, I'm not sure how much value it'll add to an obvious SOT. However, you can tell the value it adds from picking up phorias and smaller tropias in the first place.
Dear Professor, AAO's PPP recommends during a comprehensive eye examination to perform Cover Test and Alternate-Cover Test. Is there any situation in which a heterophoria should worry an ophthalmologist from neuro-op point of view?
Great video! I have one question, why the prism cover test will measure the amount of tropia and phoria while simultaneous prism cover test measures only the amount of tropia
i finally understand this concept- thanks to you!
Outstanding explanation doc!! Thank you so much for these videos!!
