Nope! I call a do over! 😂 Allie, I want to see you use products that are bad quality, not just because someone doesn’t like the scent. Let’s get crazy with it!
I love 9-15 pan eyeshadow palettes. Natasha Denona 15 pans, Colourpop 9 and 12 pans, enough variety to create new looks and have options, but few enough to not be overwhelmed.
For those who think that the days of $1 elf makeup must have been amazing: it was so bad that I declared "never again" to the *entire brand* from 2010 - 2020. It was a nice surprise that it improved and lemme tell ya, the current low price stuff is a much better deal.
You know what's way worse than having a product not work for you at all? Having the product you love the most discontinued! Anything I absolutely fall in love with and rely on as an infallible holy grail item gets discontinued. I swear it's borderline traumatizing.
Same here!!! This happens to me all the time especially with foundations. It takes a while to find a good foundation where you like the shade/finish/wearability, etc ... Then the company discontinues it or replaces it with an inferior product. This happened with BB Moisture Rich foundation which I LOVED! Then EL discontinued the Perfectionist foundation. I was devastated. Thanks to Allie I'm now using the Nars Light Reflecting foundation which has worked great with my dry skin.
I bought the NARS foundation on your recommendation and I love it. I'm 71 with dryer skin and I haven't experienced any creasing with it. I only use about a quarter of a pump for my whole face. It spreads so nicely I don't need any more than that. Love your channel and often make purchases on your recommendation. Have a great day.
I also bought it on Allie’s recommendation (and several other people) and it doesn’t work for me 😢 I have very dry skin and it just sinks into my creases. I wanted to love it so much
@violetviolet888 I appreciate the recommendation, but I don't like the feel of a heavy foundation. I moisturize with Tatcha Dewy moisturizer, so I don't need additional moisturizer in my foundation. I only need the light coverage I get with the NARS.
Honestly I love your view on products not working for everyone. This other RUclipsr I watched a couple videos from is like "don't buy these products." when it should be "this is what didn't work for me. here is my skin type." sort of thing. You are so detailed with your reviews and that is why I love them so much. Keep up the good work. Also those Morphe palettes are so huge. Got one for my birthday a couple years ago and I haven't used it much cause it is so annoyingly big. I love smaller palettes definitely.
Allie ❤Love you and your videos! Have you done a video like “Discontinued Products & What To Replace Them With?” You could ask viewers to submit options for the video so the audience participates.
Don't think I have ever heard my wife laugh so much at one of your videos. "Let's apply it" apparently was her trigger. Thanks for being so entertaining.
I have several of the Rare Beauty liquid blushes and I can say from my own experience that not all shades apply the same. I think it depends on the dewy or matte formula, but also how pigmented the color is and how it looks on your skin tone - so there are a lot of things to consider with the Rare Beauty blushes. And because it’s liquid it doesn’t really apply over powder well. But I’ve found that the shade “Happy” has worked the best for me and my skin tone. So sometimes it might depend on the shade.
It would be nice to have people rate actual products,, and not how expensive or cheap they are. Just the product's performance. Great video, Allie, as always!
I would say with out a doubt colourpop shines when it comes to affordable and well made eyeshadow palettes. I guess there is something to how much product they release but the quality is still there and we all have at least one eyeshadow palette from colourpop that we would call our signature palette. So I would say the 9 pan palettes are my favorite “So fly” is my go to when it comes to a fun and whimsical look with a touch of sophistication. FYI is my favorite shade as it has the coolest duo chrome shift. I love it so much!!
This was sooo much fun. I was crying laughing every time you said “well let’s put this on” after reading what was “awful” about a product 😂Somehow you made everything work beautifully, but also loved your honesty when something actually smelled bad or burned. This was so refreshing to know I’m not alone when a viral product doesn’t work for me. A Part 2 would be fun!
I have to say I giggled so much throughout this video 😂 What a fun one to watch and see your reactions Allie! Kudos to Tylan to “assess the situation” on products “not” liked 😅
I have a theory: many of us can only afford a minimal makeup collection, which means that we only have ONE concealer, ONE primer, foundation or whatever on hand. Many of these products look great if you just wear them once or twice in a long while, but with repeated use they wreck our skin and give us breakouts, etc. Influencers often don't experience that because they cycle through so much product.
I agree for the most part, but I would say that's why we have to be careful with our trust in online personalities. Some influencers strictly do longer term reviews. Some do a mix. If we are going to base our purchases on someone else's opinion, we gotta decide if that person has similar makeup preferences, skin type, etc.
Yeah like the elf halo glo filter stuff made me break out so bad after a few weeks and i didnt even get that good of a result from it. I was just wearing it bc everyone else was😂
Oh I'll also never buy the IT!Cosmetics CC+ foundation...it NEVER dries down. Even with the lightest layer of product and a lot of powder, I STILL feel goopy all over the face!😮
I really prefer the minis of the Rare Beauty blush. The mini distribution of product is perfection such a pigmented product. The full size is definitely harder to get application right.😊
I can totally understand how your young, beautiful skin would make it so much easier for many products to work for you. I promise you that as you age, you'll discover the need to change out the types and brands of products that you can use. When I hit 50, many of the makeup products I was always thrilled with suddenly looked horrible on me, and it was just a reformulation issue with one or two items. I initially invested in new tools and learning new application techniques, but to no avail. I had to completely change up my foundation, concealer, blush and mascara. Only my lip products remained consistent (though I love makeup so I've expanded my lip product selection exponentially just for the fun of it). It was initially downright distressing to realize I'd have to change out all of my products, but then it just served to fuel my makeup addiction and became really fun. When I was younger I would NEVER wear cream blush and was terrified of red lipstick. Now I use both and get tons of compliments, because my face is now oily/normal combo and can accept cream blush, and red lipstick now looks kinda classy instead of scary. The ONE item I absolutely cannot use Grande Lash Serum. I woke up in the morning looking like someone had beaten me in the face while I slept... purple red swollen eyes, undereye bags that were headed for me chin... It was horrifying! I actually refused to go to work that day because I was afraid someone would think my husband had abused me. Never again!!!! And please tell your husband that this was a brilliant idea!
I might ruffle some feathers with my never buy again. Tarte shape tape concealer ( no other concealer settles into my fine lines like this one) Elf luminous putty blush. It doesnt last more than an hour. The NYX fat oil lip drip (sooo goopy) and any Essence mascara I've ever tried Allie, love your videos as always. This was fun! Tylan is a gem 💎 ✨️
I am with you on the Elf putty blushes!! So hard even get any color payoff and it does not last!! I like some Essence mascaras but man do they transfer!! No thanks.
I’m someone who likes to have a small makeup bag for daily use. Holy grails only. That being said, single eyeshadows are my favorite and I always use my bronzer for the crease. I have neutral, fair skin and hazel eyes. I find it extremely hard to find eyeshadows that flatter both my eye color and skin tone, and also won’t crease on my hooded eyes. When I find that unicorn eyeshadow, that’s the only one I ever want to wear! Right now that unicorn is the Revlon ColorStay Crème eyeshadow pot in the shade Creme Brulee. So affordable and beautiful. 😍
The elf hydrating concealer is one that I wouldn't buy again it made my skin look terrible no matter how little I used. I prefer 9 pan palettes, anywhere between 4 and 16 are good 😊
Love your recommendations! I just bought my first ND palette, but I really love the size of my huda beauty eye shadow palettes, and can't go wrong with the Lisa Eldridge liquid shadows.
What a fun idea 😂…I would never buy the Armani luminous silk foundation again (overhyped and too expensive!) or the benefit porefessional primer, terrible texture.
Agreed!! My sister thought I was crazy when I replaced my $75 Armani foundation with $5 foundation from dollar general (iykyk;) but it’s honestly better
@@Wpopurple glad it’s not just me! The Elf Flawless Satin foundation for $6 is my holy grail. Jessica Braun (another RUclipsr) got me hooked on that. It’s incredible.
omg I looooved the effect of the nars light-reflecting foundation and it was super easy to wear, but it broke me out! I don't usually break out from products but then again I'm very careful with what I put on my face. A reminder that just because a product claims to contain "skincare ingredients" like the nars foundation, doesn't mean it will be good for your skin. It can still be comedogenic, it really means nothing.
Sorry Allie😂but the Nars light reflecting foundation doesn’t work on me either😢I tried it multiple times with different methods, but the product never sank into my skin and slid around too much on my combo oily skin…
Fun video! I like the Colourpop 9 or 12 pan palettes because they have some variety but also come together in a pretty theme of tones so as not to be overwhelming. Also it makes it fun to collect them. I do love mascara but I d not like the super thick level. One thing I'll never buy again is anything plumping since it makes me feel I need Benadryl to calm the reaction. I'd like to see a video where you apply makeup to wear for a day outdoors. I have figured out certain products work better than others for outdoor activity and it would be interesting to see what you choose to wear.
You made me laugh throughout this whole video.😂 What a great idea! Tylan is a genius. I’ll never purchase the Rare Beauty primers again. I had a HORRIBLE allergic reaction to them. So sad.😭😭 I think 10-12 shades is perfect for eyeshadow palettes. Super large palettes are just annoying to store and play with in my opinion. I’ve been subscribed for forever, but I’ve really been LOVING your content the last few months.♥️♥️
The size of a palette depends for me. If I’m feeling more artsy I like the bigger palettes. If I’m wanting to do a simple look in a time frame I like the smaller ones.
I'm addicted to the Natasha Denona mid size eye shadow palettes. I hated the Shape Tape concealer until they came out with the creamy one. You look beautiful in everyone's least favorite products!
I was alarmed to discover that one of my favorite foundations cost almost as much with a 25% discount code as it used to to at full price just a few years ago. Also, great video idea. Thanks, Tylan!
I love an eyeshadow quad for effortless, everyday, quick looks. But in general, I think the ideal sized palettes is 10-15 shades. Patrick Ta and Natasha Denona midi palettes come to mind.
6 shades in a palette is my ideal. Love benefit brow pencil thanks to your recommendation as the only range with the right shade (but agree it’s pricey). Loved this idea for a video! ❤
The sky high!! Yes, I can't stand that mascara, and the wand is my least favorite. It hurt to apply because of the plasticity! Your UGH sound at the beginning made me laugh so hard. 😂❤
I’m overwhelmed by an eyeshadow palette any bigger than the ColourPop 9s. Those are even a bit much. Thrive’s quads are more my speed! Next challenge, should (you and) Tylan accept it, is to identify your absolute favorite full face high end products AND the corresponding drugstore dupes. Side by side.
Many years ago Revlon made compacts with interchangeable eyeshadow pans. I'd love to find the same thing but affordable. I basically don't need more than four to six colours and find at 68 I can't wear glittery shades, although I love the look. One of the best palettes I've ever used was Flower Beauty Nude Remix. Subtle and buildable colours and I used most of them. I didn't find the magic cream that special, although it felt nice on my skin and I don't mind the smell. Love the Elf Camo concealer.
The morphe pallets and similar large pallets are overwhelming. There’s so many options, and it almost inhibits my creativity. I can’t look at a 30 pan eyeshadow pallet and immediately envision a look using 3-4 of the shades.
I also Love the Nars foundation, so interesting that some people hate it 😂. Lately I find my ideal eyeshadow palette is 5 shades- preferable with 3 matte and 2 shimmer/topper. Love the Natasha Denona ones. Easy to travel with, not so many choices to confuse you , and takes up less room. Fun video.
I think 9 to 18 pan palettes are where it's at, 15 pans is probably my sweet spot. Something with enough options to create several uniquely different looks, but not so many choices that i have to really think hard about what shades to pair together. I really prefer indie palettes over main stream now, their formulas are just superior generallly speaking (obviously there could still be indie duds though) ❤
The Patrick Ta Major Dimension III eyeshadow palette is the perfect amount of shades. Warm and cool tones that you can dress up or down, and it isn’t huge.
(Lindsay posting from my husband's account) okay I originally submitted the rare beauty primer but now I wished that I would have submitted the nars light reflecting foundation 😂. I was soooo pumped to try it after your absolutely glowing reviews. Every other foundation recommended of yours has worked on me. Color and everything so I figured it's a no brainer. Luckily enough I did force myself to wait for it to go on sale and I pounced on it when it did. I'm not sure if the color is just too light but it looks so bad on my face. Cakey and creasey!!! It is probably too light but it shocked me because every other product just get whatever color you get and have no problems! Lol and it totally does smell like paint fumes 😂😂 it was a one-off tho and ILY so so much. Thank you for your dedication and reliability. Just like Mr. Johnny Ross I am here for every tues/thurs/sat video. I would watch every day though honestly. Oh and for eyeshadow I just wear 1 or two shades. Mostly 1 shade and a topper. For my eye shape it is most flattering to do only like a colored shadow liner and maybe a glitter topper. Took me a while to figure that out. I tried so many full eyeshadow looks that you've taught and it just makes my eyes look so small. They look great on you though! I have accumulated enough palettes that I really don't need to buy any. When they expire I'll just buy cheap pallettes for eyeshadow liner and call it a day! Hope everything is going well for you!!
Everybody and their mother absolutely loooooved the L’Oréal Infallible fresh wear foundation but no matter how I applied, how well prepared my skin is (as with any other foundation) and how little or more I applied, it always looks so so cakey and dry on my very dry skin 😢 and I wanted to like it so much seeing how it seemed to work for everybody but nope, horrible!
I've never found a foundation, at any price point, that I like. I gave up on complexion products until I got a really good tinted moisturizer in boxycharm. Then I realized that I absolutely despise the look and feel of any visible foundation on my skin, so ofc I hate every one I try!
I have oily AF skin and it looks a little cakey on me too. It clogs my pores too so I don't reach for it on daily basis. There's something about L'oreal products in general where they never seem to be good in the long run for me.
Same!!! It looks SO SO SO dry on me! Like immediately, as applying it. Crap dried down so fast, like before I could even blend it out nicely. I HATED it! I also HATE the L’Oréal infallible concealer everyone else seems to love!
Just saw your subscriber count and realize that I’ve been with you for quite a few years now! Since somewhere in the mid 200K! Can’t wait until you hit 1 million!
I love also 10-12 pan eyeshadow palettes, but a good basic palette such as Colourpop Stone cold fox is a great add to my collection. Love you Allie. From Mexico, Paola
Eye shadow palettes…4 to 5 shades…a base, a transition, a shimmer, a deeper corner and a dark lash liner. Eye liner pencils irritates my eyes but dark shadows applied with a very narrow angled brush…perfect!
I agree the elf putty primer, I feel like it does absolutely nothing as far as pore filling goes. I want to try the new liquid one and see how that does. On the other hand the elf hydrating camo concealer is holy grail for me. Same with the L'Oreal lipsticks. And Sky High! It's the only thing that makes my short, sparse, straight lashes look somewhat lengthy and full.
Most of my palettes are 12 shadow ones, but I wouldn't 'denied myself' if I find a gorgeous shadow with a great formula & colour, in a different presentation ❤
I love travel/mixed palettes with blush/highlighter/bronzer in it...I personally don't want to have a hassle in the morning, and open different palettes for different things, do not have the time tbh, and they're also ideal travelling. Milani eyes & cheek palettes, the LH cosmetics glam palette and the balm multi-functional palettes are my favourites.

Yes!
Right?! I want to see the duds that are on the market!
I love 9-15 pan eyeshadow palettes. Natasha Denona 15 pans, Colourpop 9 and 12 pans, enough variety to create new looks and have options, but few enough to not be overwhelmed.
Totally agreed! Massive palettes are not usable and minis are wack of colours. So middle ones are the best😍

Lol sooooo true! 💯
True. Elf was kinda sketch back in the day.
haha. this is so true. But now ELF is one of my favorite drug store brands. They really upped their game over the years.
Yes!!! Used an elf product back in the day that was so awful that I couldn’t believe the hype haha
Makeup revolution used to be like this too for a bit. Single shadows at £1 or palettes at £4
6-9 shades in an eyeshadow palette is perfect for me! I am agreeing with most of these products!

I also hate it when products get reformulated. It’s usually called “new and improved” but almost never is.

For palettes, I’d say 9-12 shades. But I’m happy with a good quad as well.
I never use all the shades in larger palettes

I was alarmed to discover that one of my favorite foundations cost almost as much with a 25% discount code as it used to to at full price just a few years ago. Also, great video idea. Thanks, Tylan!
My go to is the Jeffrey star mini breaker pallet, born to run and sweet talk. Those all work together great to make casual to intense looks. Love em
I love an eyeshadow quad for effortless, everyday, quick looks. But in general, I think the ideal sized palettes is 10-15 shades. Patrick Ta and Natasha Denona midi palettes come to mind.
An eyeshadow trio or quad is all i want and need in my life. I do the same two looks, so i do not want any more distractions in my makeup bag
I love the Nars Light Reflecting too.
6 shades in a palette is my ideal. Love benefit brow pencil thanks to your recommendation as the only range with the right shade (but agree it’s pricey). Loved this idea for a video! ❤
The pallet question! I love 5-shade and 9-shade pallets. Small enough to bring with me and enough options to allow for some creativity.
Thank you Allie for this video🌺🌺🌺
I feel like a 15 pan palette is just about perfect plenty of space for mattes and Shimmers
The Benefit clear brow gel is my fave❣️It lasts a long time, and I like the hold. If going drugstore, NYX Control Freak is my go-to.
Big palettes are way too overwhelming! I think the perfect size is a 12 pan, and also love 5 pans as they're one look done and dusted! 💗
I haven’t watched your videos since I am a little busy. I missed them so much! Love your videos❤❤
Side note: I’m loving that Kathleen Lights gave Allie a shoutout on her latest RUclips video! Would love to see a collab!! ❤
Love this idea! Hope you are having a great Tuesday! 🩷
You look so pretty!!
Love your content!!!
Me too...
Same for me plus the turn orange on me.
Same!!! It looks SO SO SO dry on me! Like immediately, as applying it. Crap dried down so fast, like before I could even blend it out nicely. I HATED it! I also HATE the L’Oréal infallible concealer everyone else seems to love!
4-6 shadow palettes are what I buy! Perfect amount of variety
Just saw your subscriber count and realize that I’ve been with you for quite a few years now! Since somewhere in the mid 200K! Can’t wait until you hit 1 million!
I literally have a backup of the NARS foundation because I love it so much I never want to run out of it! Its sooooo beautiful!!
I used to be into the midsize, eyeshadow palettes, but now I am definitely a quad and single shadow girl.
I love also 10-12 pan eyeshadow palettes, but a good basic palette such as Colourpop Stone cold fox is a great add to my collection. Love you Allie. From Mexico, Paola
Small palettes are best for me. I love the size of the naked palettes from Urban Decay, and the new format from ABH are great for traveling ❤
This video made me laugh so hard! Everyone has their own opinion but you handle it so graciously. Great Job!
9 pan palates are my fav! Enough to get a couple types of looks but not so much it’s bulky or overwhelming!
I love the colourpop 9 pan palettes for everyday!
Eye shadow palettes…4 to 5 shades…a base, a transition, a shimmer, a deeper corner and a dark lash liner. Eye liner pencils irritates my eyes but dark shadows applied with a very narrow angled brush…perfect!
I used make up face and body drops for 2 days and it made me break out bad. My face was itchy and red after usage.
I love videos like these! Great idea, Tylan! ☺
ALWAYS prefer smaller palettes!
Rare beauty blush was also super patchy for me the first few times I used it, I had to work with it a lot to get it to look right but now I love it
I agree the elf putty primer, I feel like it does absolutely nothing as far as pore filling goes. I want to try the new liquid one and see how that does. On the other hand the elf hydrating camo concealer is holy grail for me. Same with the L'Oreal lipsticks. And Sky High! It's the only thing that makes my short, sparse, straight lashes look somewhat lengthy and full.
"That sounds awful! Let's apply it" 😂
Also I like 9-12 shades for eyeshadow palettes but my max for ones I use on myself is 16
I like the look you created 🎉❤
I feel seen because I also hate the laura mercier powder, looks so yellow and patchy! Love you Allie
Every product that you used looks terrific ❤
I think the Hollywood Flawless Filter is overhyped even if there wasn't a dupe
Hi Allie!
Allie we need a hair tutorial please 😍❤️
Nearly every Mascara I bought I would never buy again.
My lashes are so weak and strange that every hyped Mascara did nothing for my lashes 😢😢😢😭😭😭
I love the benefit eyebrow product
Most of my palettes are 12 shadow ones, but I wouldn't 'denied myself' if I find a gorgeous shadow with a great formula & colour, in a different presentation ❤
I love travel/mixed palettes with blush/highlighter/bronzer in it...I personally don't want to have a hassle in the morning, and open different palettes for different things, do not have the time tbh, and they're also ideal travelling. Milani eyes & cheek palettes, the LH cosmetics glam palette and the balm multi-functional palettes are my favourites.
I love the makeup that u did! Having said that, I do believe morphe eyeshadows were way over hyped!
My favorite brow products is the nyx eyebrow pencil in espresso and the elf brow gel 20/10
