    A truly amazing African woman. Very down to earth despite the enormous achievements. Humble through and through. The pride of Africa, the jewels of Africa. Modest and gracious. 300rand coffin sums up the humanity. Thank you God for giving us such a wonderful woman.

    Thank you Trevor for bringing this true legend of music and important messages that united South Africa during the challenging times of Apartheid. I met her went she performed at a wedding in Harare at Sheraton Hotel (now Rainbow Towers) in 1986. I was hooked on her music since then.

    "We cannot afford to be remote control parents..!" Took that one down, hopefully one day I'll be a better father. We continue to learn Malume Trevor. Qhubeka njalo with your conversations. I'm 34 but Sis Yvonne's music was a major part of my upbringing. Attie van Wyk on the productions, ah man, lovely lovely music. Who's the fireman who answered Yvonne's I'M BURNING UP telephone call ("...be cool honey, what's your address..?") when she wanted to be saved? Hahahaha

    Wow wow, Princess of Africa in the house. Back in the days when music was still music. She defines beauty for me. Africa's finest. Rare breed. It saddens me to realize we don't have her kind anymore in the music industry, only left with noise makers.

    I went to Nandos a week ago in Melbourne and found them playing Umqombothi! .That tells a story about how great Machaka is. Great work Trevor for bringing her to your show.

      I was in Nando’s in Brighton (UK) they where playing uVulindlela. I noticed they do play west African music mostly.

      When I was working for Nandos in 2004 all Nandos in Australia added Oliver Mtukudzi and other African giants on their playlist.

    The struggle was real!I feel you Trevor when you made reference of you using peanut butter oil cuz you had no vaseline.Totally relate with Yvone’s story as well.Same here , grew up in the rural areas .Had to use the same and at times lubricating grease and i do remember using a certain fruit(damba)’s juice as a lotion-but that did not deter me from dreaming!I can safely say I am a successful global citizen as i write!Thank you for these mentorship plartforms sir!

    Wow! One of your best guests Mukoma Trevor! For many of us her music was our first contact with international music and we are still attached to it. I am deeply touched by the advice on not sitting down and feeling sorry for yourself after making a mistake. And lastly, the R300 coffin resonates with my thinking about how one should go...indeed life is for the living!

    I learn as a human being you make mistakes but rise beyond that and redefine your self. She was there and still there. I life the fact that she keep her appearance even at this age.     Indeed bravo,kudos,tribute ,salutations to Yvonne MaChaka, the Princess of Africa!.She remains my favourite SA Artiste to date !.Motherland,Let him go!,Thank you Mr DJ! ,remains my favourite songs by her.Vividly & fondly remember her staging her 1st Zim concert in 1986..She acknowledges the beauty & the premium quality of Zim education &life!.She saw ZIM @ her Zenith &Apex !.Indeed her music was well received in ZIM!.Its a pity for the SA Afrophobia&Xenophobia towards fellow Africans who helped her fight & dismantle the vices&vestiges of Apartheid !.
