I enjoy this Highland Park expression. Surprising depth of flavor and complexity. My favorite highland park was their old 18 year old. This one is delicious as was dark origins. For the life of it, I cannot imagine why they would chill filter this! Quite a strange decision. Cannot help but imagining if that dampened the flavors in anyway. Got this online for 110$. Not too bad at all. Good review, for a delicious bottle. Cheers!
Thanks! $110 isn't bad at all. Yeah it's only gently chill filtered, apparently. But they were clearly going for “integrity” and they almost had it. Baffling. Hopefully we get more expressions like this from them. Despite all their marketing and shenanigans, I still have a soft spot for this brand. The barley flavour, the gentle peat, the touch of florals-great stuff.
You haven't understood the box at all, have you? It's not a "stereo", it's a parody of a Marshall amplifier guitar stack, beloved by Jimi Hendrix and generations of heavy rock/metal bands. It also has a joke on the side..................
Agreed! This one and dark origins are sitting on the very opposite end of spectrum, showing how does pure bourbon/sherry cask go with HP peat smoke. Turns out Great, but not unique though. Valfather is my favorite which is great and unique.
I’m convinced! How would you compare this to the bruichladdich classic laddie or Islay barley? Sounds similar in being more grain forward with a good ABV.
I like this more than Bruichladdich Laddie. It's over double the price where I live, though, so it makes sense. Haven't had the Islay Barley in ages, but if memory serves, again I'd go for this one. Top-tier HP imo. Cheers Chris!
If you can get a hold of the cask strength batch 1, i would like to see you review it. Also when talking about value i wish you can tell the price as a reference. We would know what is a good value vs overpriced value for the bottle.
The CS is something I'm interested in trying, but the price where I live is a bit steep, and I'm not convinced it will be worth the money. If I catch it at a good price I'll definitely pick it up and review it. 🥃
Just found one out in the wild today! Only one on the shelf! Didn't hesitate. $94 USD
Great price! Definitely worth it! 🥃

So I should grab one today for $104? There are 4 on the shelf!
I think that's a reasonable price, considering the age and the quality presentation. 🥃

Yeah no idea about any of that...

I haven't tried Valfather, although I wasn't impressed with Valknut. I'll keep an eye out for Valfather. Thanks!
Yeah, Valknut and Valkyrie are just "normal" HP, Valfather is totally another level!! lots peat and coffee tone, must try😋
I’m a big fan of Highland Park, but this one reminded me of a scotch version of American whiskey (maybe Michters or Stranahans)
Wow. I haven't had many American whiskies beyond the standard fare, but that's interesting!

I really enjoyed it. It was def hot but like a gentle build up to the full burn.
