I remember some Mary Berry advice about hosting dinner parties. She said most of them courses should be pre-prepared, requiring minimal work which allows the host to spend time with guests. Best advice ever.
Gosh! preparing 3 complete different meals is a lot of work, it shows a lot of care for your guests’ preference. Usually I ask my guests in advance what food they like or don’t like and I submit a draft menu for review, then I cook the same thing for everyone.
Do not worry Paige about missing the scheduled dinner time. Just yesterday I made oven brisket for my family, making the sides the day before to save me time and stress, but instead of eating around 7 or 7:30, we ate ten to 9. Instead of taking 4 to 5 hours in the oven, the brisket took 8 hours (it was put in the oven at noon).
Your party looks like it went really well! Notes for the future: You can prep the veg and other ingredients that need to be cut up early in the day and store them in containers in the fridge Also, shop for ingredients the day before, or do a grocery order for deliver to arrive the day before
They came. They ate. They laughed. They left. A successful dinner and great support from the sous chefs 👏. Would a pre-dinner questionnaire be of help in some way?
Preparing three meals for your friends is a lot of work. That is why that you should always do it ahead of time. Did you actually have professional chefs coming to cook at your house? It looked like that you guys had fun.
Awwww, that was a really fun video. Thanks for that. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I love cooking and having friends over. That’s my cup of tea more than clubbing. Fortunately during university studies I had friends with the same preference and we had a lot of parties like that. Therefore this vlog brought back memories of a fantastic time. You did a good job, Paige. PS: I tried to prepare food, which I only had to put in the oven by the time the guests arrive. Or stuff to reheat. For instance I made a soup as first part of the dinner (reheating), then a lasagna with salad as main (everything prepared, just to pour the dressing over the salad and the lasagna freshly baking in the oven, and as dessert apple crumble with selfmade icebreaker (also prepared and goes in the oven after the lasagna). Regarding the intolerances I use gluten-free pasta for the lasagna, gf flour in the dessert and so on. Is there a vegetarian, I use meat substitute for the bolognese (sauce in the lasagna) etc. It’s still one menu but with exchanged ingredients. Or nowadays I cook bowls where the guests can decide what they want to eat e.g. Bibimbap. Everybody can choose from a variety of toppings. Maybe these tips make it a bit easier for you.
I’d say you could come clean my hob as you did a fabulous job on yours but my apartment building has a cleaner (she needs a bonus after I cook!). I’m good at taking out the bins though
Congrats on hosting a🥂🍛 lovely dinner at your new house. A first of many, I am sure. The food looked amazing. Do try and prep some food, the day before, if possible. It was very heartwarming❤ to see all the effort you put in. Hats off!🎉
Oh you've given me anxiety with how late you've left everything 😂

It’s why I hardly invite people any more.
Yeah think I might focus on just the one meal next time!
It was nice of you to have hosted a dinner party for your friends. Prepping the food early in the day helps a lot. Potluck dinners are fun too.

Fully intended on pre-chopping earlier in the day, but somehow didn’t manage it. Next time!
@@PaigeYThe pre-chop is such a game changer. I even (try to! 😂) do it for “regular” meals I prepare when I am working from home

You’ve come a long way Paige. At least you weren’t defrosting trout in a bucket like I did at mine!
This is so wholesome. Thank you for sharing Paige.
so much positivity and energy. made me happy how you took the time to plan and make it a great time for your friends :)
3 different meals was ambitious for your first dinner party but you definitely pulled it off!
Love that you did an excel spreadsheet time plan!! 🤣
There’s always room for a spreadsheet

Hi, Paige! Love the pink earrings you had from the 10:15 timestamp until the end of the video. Where are they from? Thanks!
